Under policy direction from the City Council, the City Manager serves as the chief executive officer for the City; The City Manager plans, manages, organizes and directs the overall administrative activities and operations of the City, develops and implements budget and financial strategies for the City and provides complex administrative support to the City Council. TOWN MANAGER - TOWN OF LOOMIS

The Town Council of the Town of Loomis, California (population 6,800) is seeking an energetic and engaging individual with a commitment to public service to become its new Town Manager. The Town Manager directs, coordinates, and manages the overall administrative   activities and operations of the Town and advises and assists the Town Council while exercising significant independent judgment and initiative. In this smaller-sized entity, the Town Manager will need to be comfortable with a hands-on and collaborative approach to day-to-day  management. This will include providing strong leadership and frequent interaction with the small team (Finance, Community Development, Engineering and Public Works), fostering a    collaborative, open dialogue, and teamwork. The Town Council also seeks a Town Manager who enjoys working in the public sector and appreciates the variety and diversity of contributions from all sources within the organization, as well as from this active and engaged community.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree and progressively responsible experience in an administrative, managerial, or senior level staff capacity in a comparable organization with  similar issues. California municipal experience, particularly in a rural setting, is highly regarded by the Town Council, although all highly qualified candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. An advanced degree may be a plus based on overall career experience.

Per Diem Management Analyst I - City Manager's Office

The City Manager’s Office is seeking a Management Analyst I for a per diem opportunity beginning as soon as possible. The position offers a flexible schedule. The expectation is this position will work 20-25 hours per week, but may go up to 30 hours per week on occasion, and will not exceed 960 hours total. The hourly rate is $48.91.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Oversee and promote the City’s volunteer program with an eye toward continuous improvement and program evolution.
• Provide direct support on special projects led by the Senior Management Analyst and/or Assistant City Manager.  
• Coordinate ongoing management of select City public art installations.
• Represent the City Manager’s Office on cross-departmental committees and teams, such as the Safety Committee and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and act as a conduit for critical information.
• Assist with the organization and implementation of community engagement events.
• Conduct research and analysis and make recommendations on the formulation of policies, procedures, and best practices.
• May draft staff reports or slide decks for presentation to city commissions and/or City Council on various policy and program topics.
• Develop requests for proposals and assist in negotiation and execution of contracts with consultants and service providers.
• Participate in the development and installation of new or revised programs, systems, procedures, and methods of operation.
• Assist in the coordination of intradepartmental and departmental activities with other City departments and divisions, and outside agencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

• One year of general administrative experience, preferably in local government.
• Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major work in public or business administration or a closely related field.

The Bolinas Fire Protection District is a combination paid/volunteer fire department providing services in emergency medical care, fire protection, disaster response, fire prevention and community education. Bolinas is a unique coastal community with approximately 1,500 year-round residents. Thousands of visitors are also attracted to our beaches and surrounding National Parks year-round. The District employs a full-time Chief, full-time Administrative Manager, and three full-time Firefighters. We also rely on the support of a dedicated group of approximately 20 volunteer firefighters and EMT’s. The department responds to approximately 300 emergency and public assistance calls annually, with approximately 80% medical aid calls.

DUTIES:

• Report to the Bolinas Fire Chief
• Perform scene command and personnel supervision during incidents
• Perform fire apparatus engineer and firefighting duties
• Perform fire prevention activities and public education
• Assist in leading volunteer trainings and support the volunteer firefighting program
• Provide BLS emergency medical care
• Drive and operate fire apparatus and related equipment
• Maintain fire station, grounds and related equipment & apparatus

• Possession of Firefighter 1 (FF1) certification from an accredited organization
• Possession of California Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
• Possession of (or ability to obtain within 3 months) a California Driver’s License (Class C w/ FF endorsement or Commercial Class B) with a driving record in good standing
• Possession of a current Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)
• Pass a standard pre-employment background check

The Public Works Department is responsible for operating, maintaining, and improving the City’s public infrastructure – streets, water, storm, public buildings, the City’s fleet, trees, parks, and traffic signals. The Department also reviews plans and inspects construction of public improvements to serve private residential and commercial development and plans the capital and operating budgets.

The Department

The City Clerk’s Office administers the democratic process such as elections, access to records, and all legislative actions, ensuring transparency to the public. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Reserve Firefighter will respond to and participate in fire suppression, hazardous materials, rescue and medical operations requiring full unassisted ambulatory activity including bending, stooping, lifting up to 100 pounds, walking on uneven surfaces, squatting, climbing, lying prone, and running. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, and exposure to water, heat, fire, smoke and other hazardous substances. Reserve Firefighters will wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), protective clothing and boots, operate heavy rescue equipment and administer medical treatment to ill and injured persons.

Please Note:  Reserve Firefighters will be required to work a minimum of two (2) shifts or 48 hours.

San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department

The San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department commenced operations on January 13, 2019 and serves the cities of Belmont, Foster City, and San Mateo as a Joint Powers Authority. The Opportunity:

To perform technical inspection and investigative work in enforcing compliance with laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to the prevention and control of fires; and do related work as required. The Fire Prevention Inspector I/II position is flexibly staffed based on experience.

This is the entry level class in the Fire Prevention Inspection series. This class is distinguished from the Fire Prevention Inspector II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series including weed abatement and smoke detector inspections, which do not require prior specialized experience. Generally, work is observed and reviewed both during performance and upon completion, and changes in procedures and exceptions to rules are explained in detail as they arise. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or no directly related work experience.

What You’ll Do:

• Interpret and enforce provisions of fire prevention and fire safety laws, ordinances, and other regulations.
• Perform periodic inspections of new and existing buildings, structures and installations requiring fire clearances; identify fire hazards; recommend corrective actions; perform follow-up inspections to see that corrective actions have been taken.
• Investigate complaints pertaining to violation of fire prevention laws; issue correction orders as necessary.
• Investigate fires; secure fire scenes; identify types of fires; investigate causes of fire; collect, prepare, and present evidence; interview witnesses and suspects; write fire investigations; testify in court when required.
• Provide information to the public concerning the fire prevention practices and procedures; develop and conduct training programs and group presentations relative to fire prevention and fire investigation.
• Instruct fire suppression crews about code interpretation and inspection techniques regarding fire prevention.
• Draw and prepare diagrams of buildings for pre-fire planning and fire inspections.
• Check building plans for code compliance, consult with architects and developers regarding problems and solutions.
• Perform tests on water flow, sprinkler and fire alarms and elevator return systems; certify smoke detectors.
• Prepare records and reports.
• Provide information to the public in forums and meetings.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Woodside Fire Protection District has an exciting opportunity to join our Fire Prevention Department.

Under the supervision of the Fire Marshal or their designee, the Wildfire Defensible Space Inspector (Per Diem/Part- Time) supports wildfire prevention efforts across the District. This position is seasonal and ideal for those interested in public service, environmental safety, or fire prevention.

This part-time, per diem role is responsible for inspecting properties to ensure compliance with wildfire prevention and fuel mitigation requirements. You'll engage with residents, educate the public, and help reduce wildfire risk across the District.
