The Environmental Services Department provides comprehensive and innovative utility services for Sunnyvale’s residents and businesses, including initiatives to achieve the City’s sustainability and zero waste objectives. We are currently recruiting for the following Environmental Program Specialist positions:

Regulatory Programs Division: Implement Watershed stewardship programs focused on pollution prevention practices for stormwater and wastewater management.

*Regulatory Programs Division: Implement Sustainability programs (e.g. building or transportation electrification) including policy development, program design and implementation, and community engagement.

*Solid Waste Division: Implement Zero Waste programs including SB1383 compliance, waste management technical assistance, outreach and enforcement for multi-family dwelling and commercial businesses.

*Water and Sewer Division: Implement Water Conservation programs to support “Water Conservation as a Way of Life.”

*These are new positions included in the recommended budget for FY 2024-25, which will be considered by the Sunnyvale City Council on June 18, 2024.

The eligibility list from this recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies in the classification.

All positions are responsible for developing, planning, and implementing environmental programs, and are expected to become knowledgeable about all of the Department’s service areas, regardless of which division they are assigned to. What You’ll Do

The Senior Management Analyst will perform complex, professional, and sensitive administrative and technical duties in providing staff assistance to the Police Department, including conducting special studies, surveys, and research assignments in a variety of administrative and operational procedures and topics, often with City‑wide and/or major financial impact. The emphasis of the work may be upon financial analyses, grant and contract administration and/or policy development. Successful performance of the work requires a good knowledge of municipal operations and functions in addition to well‑developed communication and analytical skills.  Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• When assigned to the Police Department, may be required to oversee civilian, alternative response-teams (i.e. homeless outreach, clinical crisis response, or other units as determined by the department) and respond in the field to calls for service related to those teams as determined by the department. Several of these teams involve partnerships with outside organizations/community partners where inter-agency collaboration and coordination is key to continued success.
• Compile and analyze data; prepare reports and make recommendations on the formulation of policy and procedure, and staffing and organization changes, often with City‑wide impact.
• Conduct surveys and perform research and statistical analyses on administrative, fiscal, personnel, and operational problems.
• Conduct financial analyses; prepare reports and make recommendations regarding rate structures, bonding, budgeting and other financial matters.
• Prepare contracts, proposals, grant applications and similar documents; prepare reports and monitor grants and contracts for program compliance.
• Participate in the development of an installation of new or revised programs, systems, procedures, and methods of operation; update and revise policies and procedures.
• Coordinate the development, administration and monitoring of the City or department budget; prepare a variety of fiscal, administrative and management reports.
• Compile materials and prepare technical and administrative reports, manuals, and publications.
• Act as the Department's primary liaison with management staff in discussing and solving sensitive and complex issues.
• Assist in the design and implementation of systems and forms for use in operation.
• Respond to complaints and requests for information; recommend solutions and courses of action after evaluating alternatives.
• Represent the City in interdepartmental, community, and professional meetings as required; negotiate settlements and has authority to adopt course of action.
• Assist in the coordination of intradepartmental and departmental activities with other City departments and divisions, and outside agencies.
• Interpret Federal, State and City regulations; coordinate their application to City operations.

The Senior Management Analyst in the Police Department receives general direction from a Sergeant or higher level department personnel and may exercise technical and functional supervision over office, technical and professional personnel.

The City of Saratoga is currently recruiting to fill a full-time Accounting Technician position within the Administrative Services Department. The incumbent will report to the Finance Manager.

The Accounting Technician, under general supervision, performs journey-level technical and administrative account support duties associated with preparing, maintaining, and processing accounts receivable and accounts payable records and transactions. The incumbent’s duties include reconciling accounts and ledgers, preparing financial reports, batch runs and wire transfers, tracking and maintaining manual and computerized accounting and financial records, establishing and updating vendor records, and performing related duties as assigned. The incumbent will be assigned to the Accounts Payable and Program Procurement Support responsibilities.

The Technician will have knowledge of and proficiency in: Terminology and practices of financial and account document processing and record-keeping, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, utility billing, and business licensing; Methods and techniques or preparing and maintaining records of financial transactions; Methods and techniques of researching and resolving accounting transactional discrepancies; Business arithmetic and basic accounting and financial management knowledge; Record-keeping principles and procedures; Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and ordinances relevant to the area(s) of responsibility; and related areas necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

The Information Technology Manager is a key management position at the City. This individual will lead and promote the technological growth, innovation, and cybersecurity of the entire organization. The Information Technology Manager is responsible for managing the operations of the City’s information technology activities, while delivering excellent customer service and administering comprehensive information technology initiatives to accomplish City goals and technological needs. Included in the parks and recreation areas are tennis and pickleball courts, dog parks, softball diamonds, picnic areas, playgrounds, soccer fields, a skate park, shared use of a performing arts center and open space.  The City of Menlo Park opened a state-of-the-art new facility that incorporates a community center, gymnasium, aquatics center, senior center, youth center, and branch library in May 2024.
