THE POSITION

The City of Chowchilla is seeking a full time Water System Supervisor who, under general direction, supervises, develops, and directs the work of staff performing difficult and complex technical and administrative support related to all programs and activities of the City’s water distribution division; assists with long- and short-term project planning and overseeing the design, construction, maintenance, and operations of water utility systems, facilities, and related appurtenances and other programs; works with technical and engineering staff to monitor and maintain water quality in accordance with State requirements; coordinates assigned activities with other City departments and outside agencies for services such as meter reading and repair; provides complex and responsible support to the Public Works Director and others in areas of expertise; and performs related work as required.

Incumbents serves as the Division Manager to the City’s water distribution system. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, supervising, reviewing, and evaluating the work of water quality, maintenance, and operations staff either directly or through lead workers. Incumbents are expected to independently perform the full range of water quality, maintenance and operations duties. Performance of the work requires the use of considerable independence, initiative and discretion within established guidelines. This classification is distinguished from the water worker series in that it has direct supervisory responsibilities.

Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) is a new commuter rail system located in Marin and Sonoma Counties. We are seeking two full-time Code Compliance Officers to perform specialized inspections and enforcement of ordinances, regulations and laws governing the transit system. This position is non-sworn and unarmed.

Code Compliance Officers hold limited enforcement authority and are responsible for enforcing ordinances and laws approved by the SMART Board of Directors. Considerable judgment is required in meeting emergency situations, enforcing regulations and in coordination with other personnel and agencies. Ordinances are enforced by the issue of citations and arrests are occasionally necessary. This position is required to prepare incident/arrest reports and other forms either written or using a computer. Code Compliance Officers will be required to testify in court when subpoenaed and may work varied shifts.

In performing their duties, Code Compliance Officers will be called upon to assist and provide information to patrons and the public and ensure the safety of passengers on platforms and in parking lots. This position is classified as a Public Officer under the law with powers of arrest. A primary responsibility is to enforce the fare ordinance by performing unannounced random inspection of fares onboard trains and in paid fare zones. The ability to speak, read and write Spanish is highly desirable.

Description

We have ONE immediate Distribution System Operator internship available with the District in the area of Water Distribution. Assignments are for a 40 hour week. Optional work schedules or reduced hours (i.e. part-time) may be considered on a case-by-case basis.  Duration of assignment is for up to six (6) months. Position will operate out of MMWD’s Corte Madera location (Water Distribution).

The Position

Distribution System Operator Intern: (1 position) Under the direct supervision of a certified water distribution operator, learn how to operate and maintain mechanical, electrical and control equipment. Perform inspections of mechanical and electrical equipment.  Assist operators in handling consumer calls.  Assist field personnel with confined space entries.  Learn the basics of a potable water distribution system.  Safety Boots required. Work hours are M-F 6:30 am to 3:00 pm.  This position is for up to a six (6) month duration at the Corte Madera location. 

Desired Background: Must be 18 years old or older.

Candidate must have current or recent enrollment in one of the following college level courses of study:

Must be detail oriented, possess good problem solving skills, ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.

The City of San Rafael is hiring for the temporary position of Parks Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department.  This is a full time temporary position working 37.5 hours per week under general supervision.  Duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning restrooms, picking up and disposing of debris; mowing and edging turf; pruning shrubs and groundcovers, cleaning asphalt surfaces; general landscaping maintenance; and minor building maintenance and repair.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to operate mowers, edgers, backpack blower, small athletic tractor and weed eaters; work flexible time; follow written and oral assignments with a minimum of supervision and work with moderate public contact.

POLICE OFFICER

Police Officers perform general law enforcement, criminal investigations, crime prevention, patrol traffic, DUI enforcement and other public safety duties. Officers are rotated through long and short-term specialty assignments including motorcycle patrol, investigations, juvenile officer, and inter-agency SRT, allowing for variety of career development. Officers are assigned to rotational shifts of 3/12 and 4/12 work weeks, working nights, weekends and holidays. The City of San Rafael is hiring for the temporary position of Facilities Repair Worker in the Public Works Department.  This is a full-time temporary position working 37.5 hours per week under general supervision.  Duties include, but are not limited to: performs carpentry, plumbing, interior remodeling, painting, and a variety of other work in the maintenance and repair of City buildings, structures and facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to use and operate basic hand and power tools.  Ability to make basic arithmetical calculations.  Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions with a minimum of supervision as well as communicate and work cooperatively with others.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
