The City of Thousand Oaks has an excellent promotional opportunity for a Landscape Maintenance Worker I/II in the Public Works department.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform skilled work in the pruning, care, and maintenance of trees and grounds maintenance, including chemical application duties
• Perform heavy manual labor in the care and maintenance of trees and in performing grounds maintenance
• Install, repair, and program irrigation systems and controllers
• Perform graffiti removal
• Perform routine and emergency work from an aerial lift bucket
• Assist in overseeing the work of contractors

The City of San Carlos has an opportunity for a full-time Maintenance Worker to work in their Public Works Department. This classification performs a variety of routine, heavy labor and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of public works facilities, City parks, and City buildings.

Essential Duties

• Perform daily safety checks and routine maintenance of equipment to ensure it is safe for use.
• Use proper techniques for operation of equipment and tools in a safe manner, according to accepted City procedures.
• Operate maintenance equipment and tools such as trucks, power tools, sewer rodder, hydraulic jet rodder/vacuum truck, loader backhoe, compressor, boom truck, CCTV truck, pneumatic and electro-mechanical controls, and related equipment and tools for a variety of construction and maintenance operations.
• Perform on-call duties and work in emergency situations as required.
• Install, repair and modify pump station machinery and controls.
• Check pump stations for proper operation; troubleshoot and remedy malfunctions and stoppages.
• Read and interpret maps of underground sewer and drainage systems.
• Paint traffic markings on streets, crosswalks, parking lots, and curbs; operate airless line striping equipment.
• Manufacture and install traffic signs and remove signs no longer required.
• Design and manufacture special signs for municipal facilities.
• Install and remove traffic barricades and cones as required.
• Repair surface failures, utility cuts, chuckholes and seals cracks in asphalt pavements properly and competently.
• Break out and replace concrete sidewalks and gutters using a concrete saw, pavement breaker, wooden forms, and hand tools to finish the surface.
• Clean sanitary sewer lines using hand tools, a hydraulic jet rodder/vacuum and mechanical rodder.
• Excavate, remove, and install sanitary sewer pipes utilizing hand tools, power tools such as pneumatic pavement breakers, compaction equipment and loader backhoe.
• Repair storm drains, catch basins and storm drain pipes.
• Drive dump trucks to haul material to and from the job sites.
• Rake leaves, shovel and digs holes.
• Pick up and dispose of trash and debris from parks and roadsides.
• Control the growth of weeds in lawn areas, shrub areas and flower beds using hand tools, spray equipment and weed eaters.
• Trim trees, hedges, and shrubs using appropriate equipment, remove debris.
• Check irrigation sprinkler systems and ensures their proper functioning, by cleaning and adjusting heads and digging up and repairing broken lines.
• Clean City's park buildings by sweeping and mopping floors, carpets, and cleaning restroom facilities. Replaces light bulbs.
• Provide set up of tables and chairs for City functions.

The anticipated hiring range for the Engineering Assistant position is $91,185 - $113,982 annually, with a full salary range up to $136,778.  

The anticipated hiring range for the Engineering Associate position is $100,652 - $125,815 annually, with a full salary range up to $150,978. 

The anticipated hiring range for the Associate Engineer position is $111,100 - $138,876 annually, with a full salary range up to $166,651.

DESCRIPTION 

The Capital Improvement Division of the Public Works Department is seeking up to two motivated and capable individuals who can approach challenges with confidence and professionalism. Ideal candidates will have experience/background in civil engineering and utilities design and/or construction.  

The position may be filled as an Engineering Assistant, Engineering Associate, or Associate Engineer, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and certifications. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Prepare and oversee the preparation of  design plans and specification, construction documents, engineering studies and reports 

• Assist the Project Team (Division Manager, Senior Engineer, and outside consultants) in managing and performing varying responsibilities including permitting, preparation of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and estimates or the city capital projects, which may include water, wastewater, storm drain, landscape, pavement, and roadway improvements.

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative technology leader to serve as its first Deputy Chief Technology Officer (Deputy CTO). This position will play a critical role in supporting the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in building, operating, and maturing the City’s newly established Information Technology (IT) Department. 

The Deputy CTO will serve as a key partner to the CTO, helping translate the City’s Information Technology Strategic Plan (ITSP) into effective, day-to-day operations and successful project execution. While the CTO focuses on long-term vision, executive leadership, and Citywide strategy, the Deputy CTO will provide strong operational leadership, oversee core technology functions, and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality IT services across the organization.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Department Operations & Leadership 

• Support the CTO in establishing and maturing the City’s standalone IT Department, including policies, procedures, governance, and service delivery models. 

• Provide day-to-day operational leadership for IT functions, ensuring stability, reliability, and performance of Citywide technology systems. 

• Supervise, mentor, and develop IT management and technical staff; promote a culture of service, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Department Collaboration 

• Serve as a trusted partner to City departments, helping translate business needs into effective technology solutions. 

• Facilitate collaboration between IT and operational departments to improve business processes, user experience, and system adoption. 

• Represent IT in interdepartmental meetings, steering committees, and project teams as assigned by the CTO. 

Priorities 

• Establish strong, reliable IT operations that build confidence and trust across the organization.

Glenn County is recruiting an individual to fill a full time position in the Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker I/II/III position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of County roads, bridges, and other related structures, and in various traffic control maintenance and  repair activities of the Public Works Agency; operates a variety of construction, maintenance and transportation equipment as necessary to complete daily tasks at the Glenn County Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker III position is the journey-level class in the series, and is distinguished from the Public Works Maintenance Worker II by the primary responsibility to operate heavy diesel and gasoline-powered construction equipment in the maintenance of roadways, drainage systems.

What You'll Do

The Maintenance Worker position may be filled at either the I or II level based on experience. The Maintenance Worker will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, signs, sewers, storm drains, pump stations, traffic signal and street light equipment, traffic systems, or municipal buildings; and to do related work as required. Some of the duties of this position are as follows:

• Operate construction and maintenance equipment such as backhoes, motorgraders, boom trucks, tractors, vac-all and small sweepers, and skip loaders for a variety of construction and maintenance operations involving streets, sidewalks and gutters, sewer lines, and drainage channels.
• Use concrete cutting and braking equipment; operate a jackhammer; pour and finish concrete; construct concrete forms and perform rough carpentry work.
• Operate maintenance equipment and tools such as trucks, power tools, sewer rodder, hydraulic jet cleaner, vac-all, front loader, backhoe, compressor, sandblaster, power wench, boom truck, cc TV unit, main and auxiliary pumps, pneumatic and electro-mechanical controls, diesel power plants, and related equipment and tools.
• Assist pump mechanics to install, repair and modify pump station machinery and control.
• Paint traffic markings on streets, crosswalks, parking lots, and curbs; operate a striping truck.

The Department: 

The Department of Public Works (DPW) constructs, maintains and improves various components of the City’s infrastructure and provides quality, cost-effective, timely services to the residents and businesses of Santa Clara. DPW is responsible for a wide variety of programs throughout the City which include implementation of solid waste and urban run-off pollution prevention programs, design, construction management, inspection and maintenance of City streets, bridges, storm drain systems, traffic signal systems, building facilities, fleet, street trees, landscaping and the closed landfill. The Mechanical Maintenance Position is in the Facilities Division of the Public Works Department.

The Position: 

The Mechanical Maintenance Worker is a journey level technical classification. This classification operates, lubricates, cleans, adjusts, and makes repairs to heating, ventilating, refrigeration, emergency generators, solar systems, and other stationary building equipment, and installs and troubleshoots electrical systems up to 480 volts. The Mechanical Maintenance Worker is distinguished from the Mechanical Maintenance Foreman/Forewoman in that the latter is a supervisory position responsible for supervising Mechanical Maintenance Workers and Utility Workers in the maintenance and repair of the mechanical equipment found in City buildings.
