The City of Fremont’s Human Services Department is currently looking for a temporary employee to serve as Winter Shelter Coordinator. This position is responsible for the daily operations of the shelter and overseeing monitors and volunteers who staff the facility. This position reports to the Human Services Director, or her designee, and coordinates with the Department’s Executive Assistant regarding scheduling, reporting, and other administrative tasks.
POSITION: The City of Fremont opens their Winter Shelter every winter to provide a safe and welcoming environment for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Participants have access from approximately 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m., where they will be provided with a warm meal, restroom facilities, sleeping bags, cots, Breakfast, and a to-go bag. The Winter Shelter is open from mid-November to mid-March. The Human Services Department is currently recruiting for Winter Shelter monitors for next season (2019/2020).
The position will work up to 30 hours per week.
The City of Hayward is excited to announce its recruitment for the position of Family Counselor. Under general direction, the Family Counselor provides crisis intervention, counseling, and referral services to youth, families, and individuals and performs other related duties as required, such as school based, case management, and gang prevention/intervention services. This position is partially funded by Alameda County Probation Department, Delinquency Prevention Network, RFP 901499.
Under general supervision, the Clinical Supervisor plans, organizes, participates in and oversees the clinical work and clinical staff of Youth and Family Services, including coordinating crisis and counseling intervention services, providing technical expertise, guidance and supervision for clinical staff, administering the clinical intern program, and performing related duties as required.

POSITION: The Police Public Service Assistant III works within the Police Department’s Animal Services Unit to provide customer service to the many people visiting the animal shelter. Duties include taking in stray and surrendered animals, adoption interviews, answering phones and e-mails as well as animal behavioral assessments. In addition, the PSA III will assist the shelter officer with other related tasks. This is a long-term temporary assignment and may work up to 20 hours per week.
