THE DEPARTMENT
The Burlingame Police Department is a municipal, full service, community oriented department.  We offer a variety of investigative, preventative, and community policing programs to both protect and serve a community that spans five square miles and is home to more than 28,000 residents.

The Burlingame Police Department is divided into two divisions: Operations and Administration.  The force currently consists of 40 police officers, made up of the Chief of Police, 1 Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 6 Sergeants, 6 Corporals, 2 Inspectors, and 22 Patrol Officers.

We are active in county-wide law enforcement efforts by participating in the San Mateo County Gang Task Force, Avoid the 23 (DUI) Task Force, Narcotic Task Force Details, Alcohol Beverage Control Operations, Office of Traffic Safety grants and as Police Academy Training Officers.

POSITION
Burlingame Police Officers are responsible for preventing crime, arresting law violators, directing traffic, etc.  In that capacity, officers may also serve in special assignments such as K-9, detective, SWAT, hostage teams, FTO, and motorcycle patrol.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Patrol various areas within the City by driving a police vehicle or by walking to prevent criminal activity, to enforce various laws, regulations, and codes.

Entry Level - Proof of completing the POST Written Test and Physical Agility Test with a passing score.

Lateral Police Officer - To be considered for a lateral Police Officer appointment, candidates must have prior experience as a sworn law enforcement officer within the past twelve (12) months, including the completion of the field training program and probation period with a law enforcement agency.

POSITION

Education/Training:

The County of San Mateo Coroner's Office is accepting applications for the position of Forensic Autopsy Technician.
 
Forensic Autopsy Technicians assist pathologists in the performance of autopsies where trauma, unnatural, or suspicious deaths are examined, maintain the morgue and autopsy room in sanitary and orderly condition, and provide temporary care of decedents in the custody of the Coroner’s Office.

• Record weight of organs and volume of bodily fluids.
• Prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
• File pathologic specimens and perform minor laboratory work.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

The City of Foster City is seeking a Police Sergeant to join our Police Department.  This leadership position is crucial in maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, and fostering community relations with our diverse city. 

Under general or direct supervision, the Police Sergeant plans, schedules, assigns, reviews, and supervises the work of officers and non-sworn staff on an assigned shift within the Police Department. Licenses and Certifications:

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, and a good driving record, to be maintained throughout employment.

Based upon a review of employment applications and supplemental questionnaires received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Assessment Center which will include two oral board panels and one presentation. The oral boards will focus on Technical Skills and Community Relations, with each panel weighted at 40%. The presentation, based on a topic that will be announced closer to the testing date, will be weighted at 20%.  An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 80% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Police department will make the hiring decision.

THE ORGANIZATION
The City of Wheatland operates under the Council/Manager form of government. The city is governed by five Councilmembers elected at-large, each serving four-year terms. The City Council appoints the City Manager and City Attorney. The City of Wheatland currently operates with a staff of 28 positions and provides a full array of municipal services including public safety, streets maintenance, parks, water and wastewater utilities, and administration. The city’s total budget for the current year is $11.1 million. 

ABOUT THE POSITION
 Under policy direction from the City Council, the City Manager serves as the chief executive officer for the City; The City Manager plans, manages, organizes and directs the overall administrative activities and operations of the City, develops and implements budget and financial strategies for the City and provides complex administrative support to the City Council. The City Manager develops and recommends policies, procedures, rules, and regulations governing City operations for presentation and approval from the City Council and ensures proper communication and implementation of policy decisions. This position directs the preparation of staff reports and agenda items and ensures that all City Council actions are properly recorded and implemented.
