The Department

The South San Francisco Fire Department provides residents, businesses and visitors with service in fire suppression; emergency medical and ambulance transport; hazardous materials response; urban search and rescue; marine rescue; fire prevention, investigation and public education.  The Department operates five (5) fire stations throughout the City, plus and Emergency Operations Center, Live-Fire Training Tower and is comprised of 92 dedicated staff members.

The Legislative and Regulatory Manager is responsible for organizing, assigning, reviewing and participating in the performance of a wide range of professional duties related to Pioneer Community Energy regulatory and legislative matters, with particular emphasis on representation of Pioneer’s interests at the California Public Utilities; develops Pioneer’s positions on complex issues; and develops analyses, written reports, and presentation materials to support Pioneer’s position. Duties include:

• Planning, prioritizing, and reviewing the performance of professional staff involved in the research and analysis of legislation and regulatory issues.

The Central County Fire Department is seeking a dynamic, community-focused Emergency Management Program Manager to plan, organize, coordinate, implement, and maintain a comprehensive emergency management and disaster mitigation program for the City of Burlingame and the Town of Hillsborough (“agencies”); develop, coordinate and implement training and exercises for agency employees; develop and maintain community-based programs for mitigating community risk; and provide expert professional assistance to the agencies’ executive management staff.

• Coordinate EOC operations including the creation of Emergency Operation Center (EOC) procedure manuals and checklists, training and maintenance of response platforms, ensuring that the EOC is properly equipped, and serving as liaison with the San Mateo County Department of Emergency Management in the event of an EOC activation.
• Provide CSTI/Cal OES emergency management classes for agency staff.
• Provide resources and other information as requested for EOC staff and support and provide necessary National Incident Management System (NIMS) training for agency employees.
• Represent the Department with dignity, integrity, and the spirit of cooperation in all relations with elected officials, staff, and the public.

Knowledge and Abilities

You possess knowledge of theories, principles and practices of emergency program planning, development, management techniques and training; National Incident Management Systems; function and operation of a municipal government and an Emergency Operations Center; community emergency and disaster support and assistance resources; development of public education programs utilizing 5-step planning process, development of community risk reduction programs utilizing methods of evaluation; customer service principles and problem resolution techniques; business letter writing and report preparation.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under supervision, the Community Service Officer (CSO) performs a wide range of field and office support duties in the patrol and support services divisions within the Marysville Police Department.

This is a specialized, full-time, non-sworn classification. The Community Service Officer has no powers of arrest.

Definition: 
To perform varied and routine non-sworn duties with emphasis on parking enforcement and vehicle abatement program.

Examples of Duties:

• Enforce sections of the Marysville Municipal Code, other enforcement codes; and assist other City Departments in various code enforcement

• Perform traffic control and non-violent crowd control

• Assist Police Officers in routine investigations and respond to and investigate non-injury traffic collisions

Woodside Fire Protection District offers an exceptional Cadet Program for individuals interested in a career in the Fire Service. Cadets gain hands-on experience participating in training and public service events. Cadets work 24-hour shifts and ride-along on emergency calls.

Woodside Cadets will work and be involved in:

The Skywalker Fire Brigade Fire Chief (FC) position will supervise, lead, and train the Skywalker Fire Brigade (Department). This is a management position for 9 employees that staffs one private fire station and has the opportunity to build and direct a motivated staff of firefighters. The Fire Chief will oversee three duty Captains and their projects, providing guidance and leadership for the organization. The Fire Chief will oversee daily schedules with regard to standard prevention activities, training, and special events. Oversee fire prevention inspections, lead vegetation management projects including pile burning, shaded fuel breaks, and interact with the property insurance agent and facilities manager for future projects. The Chief will represent the Skywalker Fire Brigade during county-wide meetings for Operations and Training. Skywalker Fire employees provide an extraordinary level of customer service and hospitality to Skywalker Properties' clientele. While this role operates within a Brigade fire department, the position itself is mostly comprised of prevention and training. DEFINITION
Under general supervision to perform general duty firefighting and fire prevention activities; to respond to  emergency calls; to operate and maintain firefighting apparatus and equipment; to assist and participate in fire training programs and fire station maintenance: and to do related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This classification includes a variety of assignments in preventing, controlling and extinguishing fires, performing emergency medical care and rescue operations, public education activities, and maintenance operations. While time spent fighting fires constitutes a small fraction of the scheduled work time, incumbents must be able to meet such emergencies and the hazards which may involve considerable physical exertion, and potential risk to health and safety.

Education:

• Graduation from high school or equivalent. (College level course work in fire science desirable).

License/Certification: 

• Possession of a valid Commercial Class B California Driver's License OR a valid Class C California Driver's License with a Firefighter Endorsement, as currently provided by law.
• Possession of a valid Emergency Medical Technician-1 (EMT-1) Certificate.

Age:

• Twenty-one (21) years of age for entrance.

Physical Requirements:

• Weight commensurate with height and build. Normal visual functions and visual acuity not less than 20/70 vision in each eye without corrections, and corrected to 20/20 in the better eye and not less than 20/30 in the lesser eye; normal hearing; freedom from color blindness.
