About The Position:

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents may be assigned to either County Jail security or Court security. 

About the Sheriff’s Department :

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff. The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. There are numerous programs operating within the facility including medical, kitchen, exercise, commissary, visiting, law library, inmate education, work programs, work furlough program, and inmate classification.

This position is a working level civilian class in law enforcement, performing a variety of non-sworn duties in support of law enforcement activities.  Incumbents may perform civil, code enforcement, and criminal services including a variety of routine to more complex non-sworn law enforcement and crime prevention work including patrolling assigned areas, answering calls for service and complaints, serving civil papers, providing court room security; and enforcing local ordinances related to public safety and welfare.  As a County Services Officer he/she will enforce Division 14 of the Agricultural Code of the State of California and enforce the County ordinance governing the animal and rabies control program, in an effort to maintain public safety and welfare.  This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Enforce Title 8 of the County Code and Division 14 of the California Agricultural Code pertaining to animal control and treatment.
• Prepares various reports and case files on investigations, issues citations and warnings for violations of ordinances; files charges with District Attorney as appropriate; testifies and presents evidence in court.
• Works with other law enforcement agencies in matters related to the investigation of crimes and apprehension of offenders. 
• Process and serve documents involved in civil actions including summons, complaints, claims of plaintiffs and orders; declarations and orders of examinations, Notice of Entries of Judgments, civil and criminal subpoenas, Notice to Vacate Premise and process writs of execution including the preparation of orders for wage garnishment.
• Performs general office work as required, including but not limited to preparing reports, maintaining records and files, and entering computer data.

StopWaste is hiring an Energy Council Program Services Specialist to work on Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) programs. The position will conduct community outreach and engage with stakeholders to make energy upgrades and electrify multifamily and single family buildings in Alameda County and the larger Bay Area. It will also work on growing and strengthening the clean energy workforce to help achieve energy and climate goals. Join us as a Community Service Officer (CSO) in the Berkeley Police Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to perform a wide range of duties, both in office support and in the field, to support various police functions. Community Service Officers are essential non-sworn members of BPD. By maintaining positive working relationships with City staff and the public, CSOs help build trust in our community. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience, such as in-person, telephone, and written contacts indicating effective communication and customer service skills.

Previous volunteer or paid experience in law enforcement, emergency medical services, military service, probation, counseling or similar work requiring extensive public contact is highly desirable.

Other requirements include:

• Must successfully complete a psychiatric evaluation and a Police Department background investigation and medical evaluation.
• Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
• Must be willing to work evening, graveyard, weekend, and holiday shifts for the 24 hour/day operational schedule.
• Must be able to obtain required Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification such as the Community Service Officer Academy, Jail Correction Course, which are conducted or recognized by the Berkeley Police Department, and accept and apply the principles learned in training.
• Must be physically able to perform the work including lifting heavy objects and controlling violent individuals, and possess the knowledge, skills and abilities for the successful completion of duties assigned to the position.

Under general or direct supervision at the lower level and under direction at the higher level, incumbents perform varied professional technical, analytical, and administrative tasks in providing staff support to departments and divisions to; perform contract administration functions; compile and maintain records; conduct special studies, surveys, and research assignments in a variety of project, program, service, and/or operational procedures; and, to perform related work as required.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:

The Sustainability Analyst I is the entry-level class in the Sustainability Analyst series. Incumbents in this class provide varied professional clerical and technical support in the administration of solid waste, recycling, organics and related sustainability programs.

The Sustainability Analyst II is the journey-level class in the Sustainability Analyst series. Incumbents are expected to be fully competent in all major solid waste and recycling program functions and able to independently perform assignments.

Incumbents at both levels are required to have an in-depth and comprehensive knowledge of the policies and procedures necessary to achieve program results.

Positions in the Sustainability Analyst series are flexibly staffed. Incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining the knowledge, skill, experience, licenses, and certifications which meet the qualifications for and demonstrating the ability to perform the work of the higher-level class.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (illustrative only): 

• Perform research, field investigations and statistical analyses related to integrated solid waste management including waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting; compile and analyze data; identify and evaluate discrepancies, and proactively find solutions; formulate recommendations and viable alternatives; prepare, deliver, and/or present a variety of oral and/or written reports. 
• Assist in developing and conducting special projects, studies, surveys, and research assignments, policy, services, public education and outreach, data management, contract administration, for an office, department or division, as assigned. 
• Designs and develops a variety of materials and activities to promote, implement, and evaluate assigned sustainability and environmental programs in a manner that will enhance public awareness, educate citizens to relevant environmental issues, and encourage proactive and cooperative problem-solving activities. 
• Works with program staff on contract administration, program development, maintenance and continuous improvement. 
• Provide sustainability related technical assistance to city departments, divisions, staff, the public, community organization and businesses. 
• Analyze and initiate recommendations to develop, improve, and/or ensure legislation compliance for department or division programs, systems, procedures, and methods of operation. 
• Organizes and participates in assigned program area activities, including contract management and compliance, customer service and outreach, data collection and analysis, and presentation of technical and specialized data. 
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of programs, services, systems, policies, processes, procedures, manuals, and forms for use in operation; provide personnel training on related areas. 
• Assist in the development, coordination, and monitoring of the department or division budget; research and evaluate costs; provide budget tracking tasks as required. 
• Participate in administering contracts with contractors, subcontractors and consultants, ensure documents and reports comply with City contract standards; monitor programs for compliance with applicable scopes of service, rules, regulations, laws, and policies. 
• Represent the City and/or department in interdepartmental, community, civic and professional meetings, public forums, and conferences as required; make presentations as necessary. 
• Builds and maintains positive working relationships with coworkers, other City employees, other organizations and their representatives, and the general public, exhibiting effective customer service and communication skills. 
• Participates with other City departments, community service providers, consultants, other jurisdictions and agencies in sustainability and environmental program development and coordination efforts as well as legislative advocacy and education. 
• Monitor and coordinate the daily operation of assigned functional area; perform detail-oriented work and maintain accurate records, systems, processes, and statistics; evaluate using appropriate metrics. 
• Develops and maintains databases, contract compliance tracking records, and forms as needed. 
• May conduct presentations related to City's sustainability and solid waste and recycling programs and services upon request. 
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

As a Moraga Police Officer, you will be required to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service; enforce laws and ordinances; monitor and control traffic; prevent crime; administer first aid when needed;  make arrests;  serve warrants and subpoenas;  interview victims and witnesses; interrogate suspects; process crime scenes for evidence; process and transport prisoners; investigate crimes and prepare comprehensive written reports; testify in court; present cases for prosecution to the District Attorney’s office; speak before public groups on job related topics and provide other services as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is completion of 60 college semester units. Previous volunteer or paid experience in a law enforcement support area is desirable.
 
Other requirements include:

• Must be free from any disqualifications for employment, including felony convictions.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law.
• Must be 21 years of age or older at time of appointment.
• Must be fingerprinted for purposes of search of local, state, and national fingerprint files to disclose a criminal record.
• Must be of good moral character, as determined by a thorough background investigation.
• Must be a high school graduate, pass the General Education Development Test or other high school equivalency test approved by the State Department of Education that indicates high school graduation level, pass the California High School Proficiency Examination, or have attained a two-year, four-year, or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
• Must be found to be free from any physical, emotional, or mental condition, including bias against race or ethnicity, gender, nationality, religion, disability, or sexual orientation, that might adversely affect the exercise of the powers of a peace officer.
• Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. 
• Must be able to meet physical, psychological and background standards. 
• Must be willing to work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts. 
• Must be able to obtain required POST certification and maintain firearms qualification.

EXAM PROCESS

The exam process will include, but is not limited to: 

• Application review for minimum qualifications and required documents
• Written Exam: POST PELLETB
• Performance Exam: Physical Abilities Test (PAT)

The written exam and performance exam will be administered on the same day. See the job announcement for upcoming City of Berkeley exam dates. 

If you are unable to attend the City of Berkeley exam dates, you may register and take your exams with The Academy. The Academy charges a non-refundable materials fee of $10 for the written exam, $25 for the practice PAT, and $100 for the official PAT. After taking the exams and receiving passing scores, please attach your scores to your application.

POST will not authorize you to take the exam within 30 calendar days of having taken your last POST written exam. Please refer to the POST website for additional information.

Applicants may waive the written exam only by submitting a California POST Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) T-score of 48 points or higher. We will accept California POST T-scores from other agencies provided the test was taken no more than one year prior to the date of application. Applicants must submit, on agency letterhead, a letter that states that the individual has taken the California PELLETB written exam. The letter must contain the total T-score and the date of the test. For information on where the PELLETB test is offered, please visit www.theacademy.ca.gov/tests.

Applicants may waive the performance exam only by submitting a California POST physical agility certificate, known as the Work Sample Test Battery (WSTB), with a score of 325 or higher.  The 1.5-mile run is not a requirement.  The test should not be dated no more than one year prior to the date of application.

Tests may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include, but are not necessarily limited to, typing, math, reading, writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency, or any other job-related knowledge, skill, ability or qualification. The examination process and dates are subject to change. The City may, without notice, change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate. Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews.

The Marysville Police Department is recruiting for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher.

Public Safety Dispatchers are tasked with dispatching first responders including police, fire and medical services.

A Dispatcher II is a civilian employee of the Police Department who performs a variety of tasks in the Department’s Support Services Division. The Dispatcher II acts as the Department’s primary dispatcher, receiving and relaying incoming calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance; dispatching police units; operating a variety of telecommunications equipment including radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch systems; status monitoring, records and file maintenance in a computer-aided environment; and entry level dispatch training. A Dispatcher II may be assigned to work various hours, shifts, holidays, weekends and overtime.

Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: prioritize requests for service based upon available resources, receive radio requests and handle accordingly, type, process and file a wide variety of reports and materials including memos, letters, complaints, declarations, warrants, citations, crime and traffic reports.  Assists Department personnel and the public in person and by phone performing record checks, collecting fees and mailing requested reports to outside agencies in accordance with established regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Have a combination of education and work experience, including a minimum of 1 year of dispatch work; general office work involving typing of varied materials, public contact, general filing and basic record keeping; type at least 40 wpm (net).  Have knowledge of business English, spelling; modern office practices and procedures; record keeping. Ability to dispatch police units quickly and effectively; work under pressure; exercise independent judgment; work with minimal supervision; make sound decisions in emergency situations; learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routine; write English legibly; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; operate computer-aided dispatch system, 911 emergency telephone, and other multi-line telephone systems, various law enforcement telecommunications systems, radio console with headsets and handsets, computer keyboards, cameras, intercoms, security. Willingness to work varying shifts and radio dispatching skills.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The City of Pleasant Hill offers a competitive compensation and benefits program.

• Salary:  $6,538 to $8,468 per month. Placement within the range depends on experience and qualifications.  
• Medical Benefits: Choice of coverage with Kaiser or Blue Shield. The City pays 80% of monthly premiums at each coverage level. In lieu of medical coverage, the City will contribute $400 (employee only coverage) or $500 (employee + 1 coverage) or $600 (family coverage) into a MissionSquare 457 deferred compensation plan

Applications received without a valid typing certificate, or not meeting the minimum words per minute (40 wpm net) will not be considered and applicants will not be contacted to correct the deficiency.

SELECTION PROCESS

CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT: Candidates are encouraged to apply early.  Initial screening of applications is tentatively set for March 29, 2024.  After that, applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.  You must ensure complete submission of employment application and typing certificate as recruitment may close at any time.  The most qualified applicants based on background and experience as evidenced by their application, will be invited for an oral board interview, which is weighted 100%.  To be placed on an eligibility list, an applicant must receive a passing score of 70 or more from each panel member.

A thorough background check, as well as a physical, drug screen, psychological evaluation, and polygraph exam will be conducted on the top candidates prior to appointment consideration.  Failure to achieve a qualifying score on any portion of the examination process will eliminate a candidate from further consideration.
