This position performs a variety of work in the monitoring of county, state and federal detainees and maintains the security and safety of inmates and staff.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Performs booking procedures, including receiving, booking and assigning prisoners to cells; performing body searches; fingerprinting, and photographing prisoners, etc.
• Maintains custody of prisoners’ private property.
• Maintains the safe and orderly operation of the County jail facility; monitors security cameras and door warning lights; screens and monitors visitors. Inspects all of inmates’ incoming and outgoing mail and telegrams.
• Inspects facilities regularly.
• Monitors the condition and activities of prisoners.
• Prepares prisoners for court appearances; provides transportation as necessary.
• Administers First Aid in emergency situations.
• Performs general office work, including but not limited to entering computer data, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Prepares and submits required records and reports.

The County of Yuba is currently accepting full time and extra help applications for the position of Correctional Technician within the Probation Department - Youth Detention Facilities and the Sheriff's Department - Jail Division. Working under general supervision, the Correctional Technician is responsible for operating and monitoring video and audio systems to maintain the safety and security of inmates, juveniles, and staff within the secure detention areas. Additional responsibilities include performing various technical and clerical tasks related to the intake and release process for the County's Jail system, and juveniles at the Tri-County Juvenile Hall and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center, inputting relevant data into the booking system, documenting inmate and juvenile observations, providing public reception, access, and assistance as required, and other related duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Essential:

• Process paperwork provided by law enforcement officer or the courts for new inmates or youth; verify information on booking forms; obtain signatures; oversee telephone usage; obtain photographs; inventory and securely process property and money for safekeeping.
• Gather and enter inmate or youth information into computerized booking system; prepare and route computer-generated booking; complete files, logs, charts and other documents associated with jail or juvenile detention facility booking activities.
• Participate in monitoring safety and security of the staff, inmates, juveniles, visitors and facility; notify appropriate staff of any incidents, problems, or suspicious behavior.
• Observe and assess the behavior of inmates or youth from a control room; monitor radio communications; and operate intercom and electronic door controls in routine and emergency conditions.
• Process court paperwork, process discharge paperwork, and enter data into computer system.
• Update manual and automated inmate or youth records and tracking systems.
• Monitor inmates or youth on exercise yard from a controlled area; monitor and document inmates’ or youths’ recreational activities.
• Process and monitor visitors, ascertains nature of business, assist and/or direct visitors to appropriate person, observe visitation, report security violations.

The County of Yuba is currently accepting full time and extra help employment applications for the position of Office Specialist within the Community Development and Services Agency.  Under general supervision, incumbents perform a variety of administrative, secretarial, and office support duties of considerable complexity, requiring thorough know ledge of the assigned department, division, or program, its procedures and operational details; provides administrative support to various department staff; composes and prepares correspondence using judgment in content and style; performs skilled word processing, data entry and organization, telephone and counter reception, processing of invoices, recordkeeping, statistical and technical report preparation, and filing; provides information to the public and County staff; and performs related duties as assigned.  

Note: Office Specialist is a County-wide classification. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Perform specialized office support work which may require the knowledge of detailed or specialized activities related to the department to which assigned.
• Compiles and assemble information from a variety of sources for the completion of forms or the preparation of reports; make arithmetic or statistical calculations.
• Enter, edit and retrieve data and prepare periodic or special reports from an online or personal computer system following established formats and menus; may create report formats using programmed software to meet individual needs.

• Maintain records and processes various forms, applications, permits, or other department or division specific documents; type correspondence, reports, forms, and specialized documents related to the functions of the department, division, or program, which assigned from drafts, notes or brief instructions, using a word processor; may compose standard correspondence from brief instructions.
• Proofread and check typed and other materials for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with departmental policies; and correct English language, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

The Emergency Dispatcher I/II position in the Sheriff’s Department performs a variety of difficult work in the provision of 24-hour-per-day, seven-days-per-week public safety emergency dispatch service, including all 911 communications. Emergency Dispatcher I is the entry level class in the Emergency Dispatcher series.  It differs from Emergency Dispatcher II in that the II level is fully trained as a dispatcher and may provide training for the Dispatcher I. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Receives incoming calls from the public; determines type of assistance required, including law enforcement, fire or ambulance personnel, etc., and dispatches emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone communications to appropriate jurisdictions and agencies.
• Operates a law enforcement 911 communications network.
• Maintains radio communications with field personnel as necessary to relay messages and information, and to determine the location and safety of field personnel.
• Performs a variety of clerical duties as required, including but not limited to answering business telephones; processing and/or maintaining department records, including case files; compiling information and statistics for reports; preparing criminal history reports; entering/cancelling/retrieving data on computer; ordering supplies, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Processes civil, misdemeanor, juvenile and felony warrants.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents may be assigned to either County Jail security or Court security. 

About the Sheriff’s Department :

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff. The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. There are numerous programs operating within the facility including medical, kitchen, exercise, commissary, visiting, law library, inmate education, work programs, work furlough program, and inmate classification.

This position performs a variety of para-professional, case management duties, and performs related duties as assigned in the adult and youth and family Mental Health Units, along with providing crisis services. The HHSA Case Manager II is distinguished from the HHSA Case Manager I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned and is responsible for the provision of case management including complex cases. Both levels of this position are responsible for providing direct case management services to clients  The position is located in the Behavioral Health Division at the Glenn County Health and Human Services Agency and is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Coordinates services with individuals, coordinates activities with other departments, medical providers, social workers, schools and/or other outreach agencies as appropriate to ensure that the needs of the clients are met.
• Receives referrals from the courts, schools, social workers or other individuals or organizations regarding individuals.
• Maintains close, collaborative and cooperative relationships with community agencies, social workers, local law enforcement and other public agencies carrying out treatment and educational plans; provides information to other County departments and agencies.
• Provides case management through individual or group rehab methods for children and/or adults for a variety of health services programs and services.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Administrative Technician. There is currently a vacancy in the Probation Department. Under general supervision performs technical level administrative, operational, procedural, and/or program related duties in assistance to a County department; researches, collects, and analyzes data and prepares draft reports; performs administrative and technical work of assigned program area; and provides responsible administrative and technical assistance to management; coordinates program activities, assisting with process improvement efforts, preparing a variety of correspondence and reports and performs other duties as assigned. This is the journey para-professional level in the administrative/analytical series.

About The Position:

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Deputy Sheriff’s perform a wide variety of patrol officer and related duties required to effectively respond to and resolve the normal scope of peace situations, including the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, criminal investigation, report writing, crime prevention and suppression, case preparation and testimony, and providing information and assistance to the public and perform related duties as assigned. This is one of newer programs within the Marysville Fire Department.  The Marysville Fire Department is hiring continuously for three (3) Seasonal Firefighters.  

For this position, each hour worked will be paid at $16.50, that will be paid monthly in accordance with the City of Marysville's established pay schedule, with a maximum of 960 hours per appointment. 

Upon successful completion of POST Academy, the position becomes a full-time probationary Police Officer position.

Under direct supervision, the Police Academy Recruit attends a basic Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified training academy to obtain the basic skills and fitness level necessary for the performance of Police Officer duties.  This position requires a thorough background investigation, psychological assessment, and a medical exam prior to appointment. This is the non-sworn, entry-level classification in the Police Officer series. Incumbents in this classification receive training in a controlled classroom environment.  Advancement to the sworn Police Officer position is based on meeting minimum qualification standards and satisfactory performance in the academy.
