EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Performs booking procedures, including receiving, booking and assigning prisoners to cells; performing body searches; fingerprinting, and photographing prisoners, etc.

The Town of Truckee is seeking an experienced, highly-motivated, collaborative team member to play a vital role in the Town’s Engineering Division. The primary focus of this position advertisement is to find a key team member to join the Division in either the Assistant or Associate Engineer role, depending on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.
The Engineering Division works on the implementation of a variety of Capital Improvement Projects (CIPs) including new trails, roundabouts, streetscape improvements, roadway infrastructure, and miscellaneous Council priorities, such as new parks or new Town facility improvements. This position will be involved in the planning, design, permitting, and construction management of a variety of these types of CIPs. On the private development side, the Division oversees the design and construction of site and right-of-way improvements associated with private development, such as the Soaring Ranch Development (Raley’s shopping center), Truckee Railyard projects, subdivisions, commercial projects, and affordable housing projects. The Assistant/Associate Engineer position is also responsible for administering grant funds when applicable, project budget management, and responding to community requests related to the Engineering Division’s responsibilities, such as sign requests, drainage issues, or traffic concerns.
The distinction between the Assistant/Associate levels is the ability to perform up to the full range of duties assigned, including differing levels of independent use of judgement, under the general supervision of the Senior Engineer or Engineering Manager. The Associate Engineer level requires current registration as a licensed professional engineer in the State of California. The Assistant Engineer does not require registration as a licensed professional engineer, although education in an engineering or related field is desired.
The ideal candidate has experience in various facets of engineering such as plan review, site design, construction inspection, project management, stormwater management, government processes, and traffic engineering, as well as good communication skills for both one-on-one conversations and public presentations. The Senior Civil Engineer (CE) plans, manages, and coordinates the engineering program. Using broad parameters of departmental policy guidelines, this position exercises substantial initiative, judgment, and expertise to meet program and project outcomes. The Senior Civil Engineer creates the scope on large civil engineering projects with complex budgets and timelines, integrating numerous elements that significant stakeholder involvement and sensitivity. This position provides direction and mentorship to more junior staff and oversees both technical and administrative work performed by their staff and ensures that projects are completed efficiently and effectively for the public good. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

To operate a computer aided dispatch (CAD) and radio system, receiving calls and dispatching public safety equipment and personnel, and maintaining public safety records and reports.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Serves as a relief Public Safety Dispatcher. The Reserve Dispatcher performs the routine tasks and duties assigned to Public Safety Dispatchers working on-call and subject to various shifts and workday assignments including nights, weekends and holidays.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives immediate supervision from sworn or other supervisory personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Receive emergency and non-emergency telephone calls from the public and other jurisdictions.

·         Dispatch police personnel and equipment in response to such calls; transfer fire and medical                communications to appropriate agencies.

·         Relay emergency and non-emergency information to public safety personnel in the field.

·         Relay information to other agencies as required; search and relay warrant information.

·         Monitor multiple radio frequencies; maintain status of public works units, as necessary.

·         Maintain accurate record of location and status of public safety units.

THE POSITION

The Police Dispatcher/Clerk is a non-sworn technical and complex clerical support classification associated with law enforcement support services assigned in the Town Police Department.  Police Dispatcher/Clerks learn and perform a variety of responsible records management, communications and dispatching duties for emergency and non-emergency calls for service. 

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

• Dispatches police officers to calls for service
