The City of Rocklin is accepting applications for a Parks and Recreation Manager. Under general direction from the Director of Parks and Recreation, the incumbent manages, directs, plans, develops and evaluates one or more of the department’s major program areas including park services, recreation, venue rentals and special events; develops, implements and evaluates department and division plans, policies, and procedures to achieve annual goals and objectives; develops and monitors division budgets;  manages, supervises, and coordinates the personnel and activities within assigned areas; provides highly complex assistance to the Director; ensures programs, events and activities are in compliance with federal, state and local mandates; performs related duties as assigned.

This is a management level classification with overall responsibility for managing all program activities within assigned areas; such as park planning and maintenance, special events and event tourism, recreation and sports programs, and facility and venue rentals.  Incumbents are expected to carry out the full realm of duties within their assigned function with limited supervision, utilizing initiative and exercising independent judgment.

About the Position:  Seasonal Open Space Technicians assist with building and maintaining roads and trails on Midpen lands, operating mechanical equipment such as chainsaws, power pruners and mowers. Additional duties include cleanup and routine maintenance on Midpen lands, in buildings and restrooms and driving trucks as required. Seasonal Open Space Technicians also use hand and power tools to do semi-skilled carpentry, construction tasks and to remove invasive non-native plants. Work location may be at either the Skyline or the Foothills Field Office (there is no seasonal housing available).  Job Description is on the website.

Requirements:  Basic requirements include high school diploma or G.E.D.; possession of a valid California driver’s license; skills to perform basic construction and maintenance assignments; ability to perform manual labor requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting; and the ability to work in, or around, poison oak.

Highly desirable traits include prior work experience in a park, forest, or public recreation area involving work with equipment and tools used in park maintenance. Upon hire, employee must purchase and wear the required uniform. In addition, candidates selected for the position will be required to successfully pass and obtain certification in Basic First Aid/CPR, AED for Lay Responders.   

Working Conditions: This is a full time, Monday through Friday position, with occasional weekend and holiday work required. Employees work in the field in rugged and remote areas and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical or electrical hazards, hazardous physical substances and fumes, and poison oak. Seasonal assignments will not exceed 950 hours (approximately 6 months of full-time work) and do not include benefits.

AFTER SCHOOL COMMUNITY SERVICES ASSISTANT (ASCSA) I & III

ASCSA I: $13.39 - $16.28/hr.

DEFINITION: Under supervision, staff will perform duties in our After School Program consisting of an educational, enrichment and recreational environment. Work schedule will NOT exceed 28 hours per week; schedule is generally 11am – 6pm (varies from site to site), Monday through Friday and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE FOR ASCSA III (SITE LEAD) POSITION:

• A minimum of two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in education, school aged recreational programming or a closely related field including supervisory experience.
• Ability to successfully lead a program with up to 5 additional staff members and up to 100 youth in attendance daily; Knowledge of after school program best practices and ability to implement them appropriately.
• Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with school site personnel, staff, participants, and parents regarding program policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The incumbent must have the ability to:

• Work with students in reading, spelling, mathematics, and other subjects, assist with computer skills: Assist in supervising and organizing recreation activities; distribute, monitor, and maintain equipment/supplies.

City of Gilroy is recruiting for a part-time Early Childhood Recreation (ECR) Assistant Instructor.  The goal of the Recreation Department is to provide early childhood recreational opportunities to foster social development, healthy lifestyles, build confidence and instill problem solving, listening and communications skills in participating children in a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment. This recruitment list may be used to hire substitutes and on-call Assistant Instructors in addition to the vacant position noted above. 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under direct supervision of an Early Childhood Recreation Instructor and indirect supervision of a Recreation Supervisor and/or a Recreation Coordinator, assist in teaching a developmental program for preschool children 30 months to 6 years of age.  This position provides supervision of appropriate activities and events during program hours.  This position may be a year round part-time, seasonal, or a substitute position.

Position & Duties 

The Community Energy Department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Power Resources Specialist I/II position to the Regulatory and Legislative Compliance Division. This position reports directly to the Division Manager of Regulatory and Legislative Policy and will support a variety of Regulatory and Legislative Policy functions. 

Under general direction of the Division Manager of Regulatory and Legislative Policy, the Power Resources Specialist I/II will be responsible for assisting and supporting the division’s engagement in the number of complex electric regulatory proceedings in order to effectively advocate for the business interests of SJCE at the California Public Utilities Commission (“CPUC”), the California Energy Commission (CEC) and the California Independent System Operator (“CAISO”) to protect and advance San José business and community interests.

Typical duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:

• Evaluate regulatory and legislative initiatives to ensure compliance with energy risk management policies.

• Perform energy resource planning and electric utility tariff analysis, policy risk assessment, and provide technical analysis to comply with applicable federal, state and local laws.

• Support the preparation of comments, data requests, written responses, position papers, analytical models, testimony, and exhibits related to a variety of technical regulatory proceedings.

• Maintain and update a short and/ or long-term list and calendar of key regulatory issues affecting SJCE.

• Track, review, analyze, regulatory filings, proposals and policy issues that could impact SJCE and its customers.

In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Senior Power Resources Specialist I/II classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing, non-pensionable, compensation pay.

• Perform energy resource planning and electric utility tariff analysis, policy risk assessment, and monitor and respond to CPUC, CEC and CAISO regulatory
• Provide compliance proposals
• Prepare technical comments, data requests, written responses, position papers, analytical models, testimony, and exhibits related to a variety of regulatory proceedings
• Keep abreast of key California regulatory issues affecting SJCE and develop responses including strategy and prioritization of regulatory actions for management consideration
• Track, review, analyze, and summarize regulatory filings, proposals and policy issues that could impact SJCE and its customers.
