The Position

Under the direction of the Cable Television Field Supervisor, the Cable Television Technician installs and services cable television, internet and related services, including new installations, disconnections, relocations and terminal device installation.  Additional duties may include determining the locations of gas, telephone, power, television, water and sewer lines prior to installation, conducting inspections and submitting recommendations for necessary construction and maintenance work, completing work orders and related documentation, and responding to customer inquiries. In order to maintain current knowledge of local ordinances and codes, the Cable Technician undergoes ongoing training related to work methods, use of tools and equipment, and safety practices.  As needed, the Cable Technician participates in the stand-by rotation and may be called upon to respond to emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications

CATV Technician I

Graduation from high school or equivalent and at least three (3) years of cable television experience at the system operation level

Education/Experience in related fields may be considered on a year-to-year basis with preference given to CATV operational functions

CATV Technician II

Successful completion and maintenance of four (4) certification courses towards achieving the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) broadband Communications Technician (BCT) certifications or Jones/NCTI Master Technician certifications is required to reach and maintain the level of CATV Technician II in addition to minimum requirements for Cable Technician I level

CATV Technician III

Successful completion and maintenance of Broadband Communications Technician (BCT) Certification or Jones/NCTI Master Technician Certification is required to reach and maintain the level of CATV Technician III in addition to minimum requirements for Cable Technician II level

Special Requirements

In addition to those certifications listed above, possession of and ability to maintain a valid California drivers license

Possession of Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) Category I Certifications or National Cable Television Institute (Jones/NCTI) certification is highly desired

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of operation and maintenance of a variety of motorized equipment; methods, tools and equipment used in cable television and fiber optic cable facilities construction, repair and maintenance; safe work methods and practices; mathematical and related techniques used to estimate material needs and their costs.  In addition, the candidate will effectively accomplish the completion of assigned programs and projects; acquire thorough knowledge of applicable programs, policies and regulations of the City and other government agencies; prepare and maintain accurate written reports and records; operate and maintain equipment and tools; work effectively with those contacted in the course of work including the public; engage in a broad range of CATV field and cable plant maintenance, operations, and construction functions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and provide quality control for the cable plant.

SUSTAINABILITY INTERN – CITY MANAGER’S DEPARTMENT

POSITION IS PART-TIME / NO BENEFITS

Limited Term – Present to June 30, 2020

This is an ideal position for an undergraduate or preferably a graduate college student in environmental studies or public policy. The intern will assist the City in a providing more effective management and coordination of sustainability activities including alternative transportation and gain valuable experience in public service.

THE POSITION:
The position is part-time with flexible scheduling up to a maximum of 999 hours per fiscal year and no benefits are provided. This is a 12-month, limited term position. The Sustainability Intern receives direction and guidance from the Assistant City Manager in the City Manager’s office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ASSIGNMENTS:
Responsibilities include the administrative implementation of the Sustainable Foster City Plan including, but not limited to programs and initiatives in the Economic Development Strategic and the Climate Action Plans, respectively.

Work assignments:

• Preparing agendas, public notices and materials for meetings, public notices and materials for meetings, attending meetings with the Assistant City Manager and/or Management Analyst, and preparing minutes.
• Maintaining Sustainable Foster City ideas and proposals and writing reports.
• Researching best practices and what other communities are doing in the area of Environmental Sustainability and Economic Development.
• Gathering data and information regarding City Sustainable efforts, including environmental, economic, and transportation initiatives.
• Completing other related environmental sustainability work.
• Empower people to walk, bike, carpool or take transit rather than drive alone.

SCHEDULE AND HOURS:
Schedule can be flexible, but will include attendance at night meetings. For a student, it can be part-time
during the school year and full-time in the summer or during school vacations. Total hours will be less
than 1,000 annually.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under supervision of the Information Technology Manager, the Information Technology Technician position supports programs and activities related to the City’s technology and telecommunications operations and systems. This includes performing basic computer related duties such as analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving technical operational problems for desktop computers, peripherals, and networks; providing informal training to users on system implementation and operations; performing other related duties as assigned by supervisor. The assignment is 27-30 hours per week for approximately 6 months and may be extended.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS   

• Respond to all information technology help desk requests and provide a full range of assistance and help to system and equipment users in the role of help desk expert.   
• Performs basic and advanced configuration, installation and maintenance of computers, peripherals, telephones and mobile devices.   
• Participates on project teams to ensure successful implementation of new systems or upgrades to existing systems.   
• Analyzes and/or resolves computer, software, and application problems for on-premise and cloud-based systems and network resources supported by the City of Los Altos.   
• Monitors computer systems, networks, and applications for response time, problem prevention, performance and resource utilization.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  

KNOWLEDGE OF:

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Any combination equivalent to experience, education and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities could be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:    

• An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field such as computer science, information technology
  systems or a related field. Professional certification in one or more fields of information technology may be substituted for the education. Additional years of experience may be substituted for educational experience on year for year basis.  
• Possession of a MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate). CompTIA A+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE) is desirable but not required.  
• 3+ years of experience providing user support in the operation, maintenance, and implementation of applications programs on multiple platforms
  including client/server, desktop computer and networks.  
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is required.

COMPENSATION
This is a Part-Time/Temporary/Seasonal position with an hourly rate range of $32/hr – $45/hr (DOE).

OTHER INFORMATION
Part-Time/Temporary/Seasonal employees are non-benefited, at-will positions. Since the City does not participate in Social Security and is required to provide an alternative retirement plan, you are required to participate in the City's defined contribution retirement plan through Nationwide where 3.75% of your gross compensation per pay period is deducted and put into the plan. The City matches this 3.75% for a total contribution of 7.5% of your gross compensation per pay period.

DEFINITION

Under limited supervision, performs skilled technical work on the City’s data and voice networks, including Local Area Network equipment, Windows servers, department-specific client/server applications, PBX software and switching equipment, UPS devices and desktop and mobile PC hardware and peripherals. Performs other duties as needed. This position reports to the Information Services Manager under the Department of Finance and Administrative Services.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Works with the Information Services Manager and Senior Network Administrator in administering the City’s data and voice networks, including maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting network switches, routers, and servers. Maintains network security and data integrity. Researches, implements, and maintains fixed and mobile access wireless data networks. Administers voice communication systems, including voice recorders and public safety communication links. Configures, maintains, and manages upgrades to client/server software applications. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EVENT DUTY (ON CALL POSITION) - WEEKEND HOURS (Days and Evenings)
$15.15 per hour

The Sacramento Public Library's Tsakopoulos Library Galleria is seeking candidates to fill several on-call Event Duty positions.  This position works as needed, based on events scheduled in the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria.   The Tsakopoulos Library Galleria is attached to the Sacramento Public Library's Central library (downtown) located at 828 I Street in Sacramento.

If you have at least six (6) months of experience overseeing various functions of events for a banquet, conference or other public use facility, we encourage you to apply!

The ideal candidate has excellent customer skills and experience managing events, such as weddings, proms, professional meetings, job fairs, trade shows, etc.  He/she must have the ability to interact tactfully with clients, vendors and prospects; must be able to effectively enforce health, safety and other facility policies and regulations; is adept at Microsoft Office products and is familiar with a variety of audio/visual equipment.

Set- up, monitor and break down events in the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

•Set up furniture, microphones, conference phones; etc.;
•Put out signage;
•Greet clients,

Other
The hours will vary between less than 10 to 40 hours in a two week pay period and are not guaranteed. This is limited to on-call assignments that do not exceed 1040 hours per year.

The on call position is scheduled a month at a time but is adjusted accordingly as events are booked and/or cancelled.  The position requires flexibility events begin as early as 7 AM and end as late as midnight. Events are scheduled seven days per week.

The salary range for Senior Analyst is $88,088.00 - $107,328.00 annually with the actual salary determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience. • Sets up new users in the agenda management system and assigns user access at the direction of the District Secretary or the Assistant District Secretary; directs new users to training resources; may troubleshoot user issues as needed and stays abreast of new system features and requirements.
• Maintains the District Secretary and Board of Directors intranet pages; updates Board information and policies; posts new content on the District's website as needed.
• Assists Board members with issues pertaining to routine use of smartphones, tablet devices, and applications; interfaces with the Department of Innovation and Technology when required to troubleshoot technology related problems and service issues.
• Serves as the primary point of contact in processing tort claims, summons and complaint, and small claims filings.
• Processes assuming and leaving office Statement of Economic Interest forms and related filings.
• Monitors budget expenditures calculates monthly reconciliations, and prepares Board payroll and other financial documentation.
• Tracks customer complaints and follows-up with appropriate staff to ensure timely response.
• Coordinates all travel arrangements for the Board and District Secretary's Office, including itineraries, and prepares quarterly travel reports for Board members and Officers; prepares and processes cash advances and expense claims.
• Monitors electronic correspondence and responds to requests as directed.
• Opens, scans, and distributes incoming mail; uploads and indexes electronic documents.
• Prepares check requests, special requisitions, petty cash reimbursements, purchase order payments; verifies the accuracy of vendor invoices and processes payments.
• Orders and maintains an inventory of office and meeting supplies.
• Coordinates or assists in the coordination of special administrative projects.
• May assist in the preparation of agendas and minutes as needed.
• May prepare transcripts of testimony given at Board meetings or public hearings or recorded testimony or comments received.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field.

Experience: Equivalent to five (5) years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience for management personnel involving frequent public contact; including (3) years in a public or governmental agency that operates under the Brown Act at the level-of an executive assistant, senior administrative assistant, administrative coordinator, deputy city clerk, or equivalent.

Physical Requirements: Must maintain the physical condition necessary to perform tasks in an office setting operating a personal computer, keyboards, and other peripheral equipment. Must possess the mobility necessary to transport oneself to other locations within the District in order to attend meetings.

The SMART District is seeking a MAXIMO specialist (Railroad Information Systems Specialist) to join our Operations team! The Railroad Information Systems Specialist is responsible for all activities in support of the Operations Department Maintenance Management Information System (MMIS), MAXIMO, as well as computer systems support for the Operations Department. The Specialist works with Operations Department management to align MMIS and Operations technology solutions with business strategies. This position ensures that the MAXIMO system and all other Operations Department IT systems are working properly at all times and that all department work flows meet system requirements. This position carries two overall fields of responsibility. The first is administration of the Maintenance Management Information System (MAXIMO) and the second is providing IT support of all Operations Department systems.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated, independent person with an aptitude for creative problem solving and a solid foundation in MMIS.
