Experience Required:

Lifeguard:

• Must have current certification in American Red Cross CPR and AED for the Lifeguard, Standard First Aid and Lifeguard Training.
• If you are not yet certified but are enrolled, or planning to enroll in a Lifeguard Training Class, you may apply and be hired upon the contingency that you pass your class.

Senior Lifeguard :

• Must have current certification in American Red Cross CPR and AED for the Lifeguard, Standard First Aid and Lifeguard Training.  Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor are highly preferred.
• Senior Lifeguards are responsible for directly assisting the Pool Manager and Recreation Supervisor and helping with training, customer service, staff management, swim lesson coordination and other general duties.

Swim Instructors:

• Must have current certification in American Red Cross CPR and AED for the Lifeguard, Standard First Aid and Lifeguard Training.
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and experience is highly desired but not required.  Must be able to teach group and private swimming lessons.  Training can be provided.

JOB SUMMARY

THE POSITION

The City of Dublin is seeking a temporary, part-time Program Specialist in the Economic Development Division of the City Manager’s Office to provide a variety of support for the City’s Census 2020 outreach efforts through approximately May 2020. Summary of Duties: Under general direction, plans, organizes, and oversees the daily functions, operations, and activities of the Victim Advocate Program; advocates and coordinates rights and benefits for crime victims and/or witnesses during the various states of follow-up to a crime; facilitates communication among agencies concerned with the investigation of criminal cases involving victims and/or witnesses. 
Distinguishing Characteristics: This position is a journey level position in the Police Department.  Incumbent receives general direction and supervision from Division Chief or designee.  Incumbents are expected to be able to perform assigned duties with only occasional instruction or assistance within a relatively short period of time and work independently out in the field.  May exercise functional supervision over lower level staff and/or volunteers.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

1.    Contacts victims of crimes to provide aid, assistance or referrals to appropriate services and resources to meet their needs; provide status updates to victims throughout case development.
2.    Functions as a liaison to third parties to inform them of the crime, status, victim’s condition, and case progress; meet and confer with detectives, officers, and allied agencies regarding individual cases.
3.    Stays abreast of potential new cases and case developments by reviewing police reports, tracking cases through the court process from filing decisions and arraignment to disposition.
4.    Coordinates onsite advocacy at emergency rooms, police stations and other locations with a focus on non-duplicated reporting, effective and compassionate treatment, and follow-up.

8.    Provides comprehensive staff support to the Police Department related to the Victim Advocate programs and services; coordinates and integrates program services and activities with department divisions such as investigations and patrol with other agencies; develops program partnerships, where applicable, with external agencies and organizations; identified public and private resources to support program objectives.
9.    Develops and maintains information, outreach, and educational materials, including brochures, information packets, flyers, guides, and other documents; conducts workshops and training.
10.    Prepares and maintains statistical reports and records;
11.    Develops and standardizes procedures and methods to improve and continuously monitors the efficiency and effectiveness of the Victim Advocate Program, service delivery methods, and procedures; identifies opportunities for improvement and makes recommendation to management.

Education and Experience: 
1.    Thirty (30) college units from an accredited college or university with major course work in psychology, sociology, social work or closely related and two (2) years of responsible experience in social services/public assistance, criminal justice, or law enforcement agency; or
2.    High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of responsible experience in social services/public assistance, criminal justice, or law enforcement agency.
Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.  Employee will be required to use a City vehicle(s) for business use.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under the direct supervision of a Recreation Supervisor, Youth Task Force Coordinator, or the designee, the Community Coordinator shall develop, plan, organize, promote, supervise, and evaluate several neighborhood building and community engagement strategies alongside community members and South County Youth Task Force partners in targeted neighborhoods.  As the liaison for the City, this position will work closely in collaboration with residents, local grassroots community-based organizations, Gilroy Unified School District, public safety agencies, private businesses, community and faith-based groups to develop and provide non-traditional recreational, community-based programs, services and resources to targeted youth and families. Service areas may include, but are not limited to: community and neighborhood organizing; community projects, meetings, educational workshops and special events; supervising and coordinating youth services, such as youth employment, delinquency prevention, intervention and diversion programs; Other program areas may include planning and administering traditional recreational programs such as youth or adult sport activities, late night gyms, contract classes, facility rentals, special events, cultural arts, summer camps, after-school programs, volunteers, aquatics and activity registration. Community Coordinators may be assigned to any combination of program areas for Gilroy that support local and regional South County Youth Task Force initiatives and public recreation efforts. 
 
Working evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required based on assigned program area(s). This position will primarily work at the San Ysidro Cultural Center and will help supervise staff while acting as a City liaison for residents, organizations, and community groups in a cooperative environment toward achieving shared goals.

Job Summary:  Under the direction of the Director, Safe and Supportive Schools, plan, coordinate and promote various tobacco prevention education projects in support of schools and districts in San Mateo County with a special focus on the Court and Community Schools and perform related duties as assigned.

 

Essential Job Functions:              

• Perform a variety of specialized activities to provide support for the implementation of Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) research-validated substance abuse prevention programs in public schools and Court and Community Schools
• Schedule and provide ongoing support for annual research-validated substance abuse prevention program trainings and alternative to suspension trainings
• Develop and facilitate parent and community education, including a community health fair, two bilingual parent and community education nights and bilingual tobacco use prevention literature
• Convene and coordinate a task force to monitor the progress of this project, guide the development and selection of trainings and materials and ensure all health and wellness policies have been updated to include tobacco prevention measures
• Provide ongoing technical assistance, training and mentoring to teachers regarding the implementation of research-validated substance abuse prevention programs
• Assist with the coordination and implementation of research-validated substance abuse prevention programs in Court and Community Schools
• Develop policies and protocols for cessation referrals as well as protocol for addressing tobacco use on community school campuses    
• Serve as a liaison between the County Office of Education, school districts, students, and outside agencies regarding research-validated substance abuse prevention programs; respond to inquiries and provide information concerning related activities, policies, procedures and objectives
• Conduct classroom visits to ensure programs are being implemented with fidelity
• Coordinate youth development opportunities for Court and Community School students
• Facilitate the administration of the California Healthy Kids Survey at the Court and Community Schools

• Supervise, direct, and motivate subordinate camp counselors and counselors-in-training.
• Maintain registration, attendance, and activity records; ensure the proper pick-up/drop-off of campers. 
• Encourage good behavior, appropriate manners and active play by both staff and campers. 
• Possess strong leadership skills in one or more of the following areas: arts, crafts, sports, playground games, drama, songs/music, nature or special events.
• Ability to lead groups of campers in various day camp activities.
• Motivate staff and campers through example.
• Must be a team player and have the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Create and maintain a positive day camp environment.
• Practice proper hygiene, with self and children, to deter the spread of disease (colds, flu, etc.).
• Enthusiasm and motivation.
• Respond professionally to emergencies, provide care according to the level of training.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• The ability to speak English clearly and understandably.
• Perform related duties as required.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Candidates receiving a conditional job offer must pass a pre-placement fingerprint review. Candidates must possess a current CPR/AED and First Aid certificate and be comfortable calling 911 in an emergency.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, plans, directs and coordinates the daily activities and staff for Mill Valley Recreation Department and Community Center Summer Day Camp Program.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communicate effectively with co-workers, parents, and campers.
