The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships, engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving, and leveraging financial and volunteer resources.

The Position

The HSD is looking for an Assistant Chef to join the crew at the City-operated Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth. Under direction of the Chef/Food Services Manager, the Assistant Chef will participate in the preparation, cooking, serving and clean-up of a diverse lunch menu for seniors as well as some catering engagements. The Assistant Chef may substitute for the Chef/Food Service Manager in the latter's absence.

Examples of Job Duties

• Participate in receiving and inventory of ordered food and kitchen supplies.
• Prepare raw ingredients for cooking and cook food.
• Clean food service equipment such as dishes, flatware, pots, pans, serving equipment, stoves, sinks and floors, and return food service equipment to correct location after use/cleaning.
• Participate in the set-up, break down and serving of food in the serving line.
• Receive and respond to customer requests.
• Purchase food and supplies that are needed immediately from off-site locations.
• Coordinate and schedule the set-up and break down of classes & events.
• Develop and support additional meal programs, including, but not limited to fundraisers, catering events and cooking demonstrations and special events.

 

The Human Resources Department is seeking well qualified candidates for the position of HRIM Departmental Systems Analyst.

 

The Departmental Systems Analyst (DSA) will provide complex analytical support for the adaptation of and enhancement to Workday, the County’s incorporated human resources information system.  There is currently one vacancy in the HRIM division of the Human Resources Department.

 

In general, the DSA will provide analytical and technical expertise to support the configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), Compensation, and Talent modules. The role serves as a key link between HR program areas, departmental users, and technical teams to ensure system functionality and data integrity and to ensure business processes effectively support departmental and organizational needs. 

 

The DSA will also: 

• Configure, maintain, and process negotiated compensation and classification changes such as cost-of-living adjustments, equity increases, and legislative updates within Workday.
• Administer and update job profiles, compensation plans, and related structures, supporting the Classification and Compensation program.
• Provide HCM support to departments during major workforce activities such as reorganizations, seasonal staffing, and fiscal year transitions.
• Coordinate regression testing and implement changes associated with bi-annual Workday updates in assigned functional areas.
• Prepare and distribute procedures, communications, and reports to support HR programs, system enhancements, and compliance initiatives.

 

The DSA must have knowledge of departmental operations and Workday system functionality, enabling effective communication between technical and non-technical staff. This includes the ability to translate business needs into system configurations to ensure that HR processes are accurately and efficiently supported. 

 
The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong analytical and technical skills with the ability to research, test, and configure system changes within Workday HCM, Compensation, and Talent. 
• Experience supporting or administering complex HRIS systems, with a focus on improving functionality and process efficiency. 
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions. 
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and data accuracy in a fast-paced environment. 
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into system improvements. 
• Enthusiasm about continuous learning opportunities to cross-train in other modules in Workday with the addition of Learning, Journey, Peakon, and Help modules in the next year.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Configure, maintain, and process negotiated changes in Workday such as cost-of-living adjustments, equity salary updates, and other compensation adjustments.
• Create and maintain compensation grades, steps, and allowance plans and administer job profiles and position management to support classification and compensation functions. 
• Provide HCM support for departmental operations including reorganizations, fiscal year transitions, and large-scale staffing actions. 
• Configure and maintain custom objects and request frameworks for HR programs that are within HCM (e.g., Hiring Incentive Program, Employee Referral Program, Tuition Assistance, Admin/Vacation Cash Out, Fitness Area and Equipment Usage Waiver). 
• Coordinate and perform regression testing and audits during Workday bi-annual updates.
• Draft and distribute user communications, training materials, and procedural updates to support new functionality or system changes within HCM.
• Maintain Help Text, Quicktips, videos, pictures, and announcements within HCM.
• Support and enhance Talent optimization within Workday, ensuring alignment between performance and development processes and future modules such as Learning, Peakon, Journeys, and Help for a cohesive and integrated employee experience. 

 

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Three years of responsible experience in a position that would provide knowledge of department-specific programs, processes, and/or operations, including at least one year of experience in planning, implementation, oversight, and/or utilization of automated information systems and applications used to support departmental activities.

 

Knowledge of: 

• Principles, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable state and federal laws pertinent to assigned operational and/or program area.
• Principles and practices used in the analysis and development of procedures and information systems associated with assigned operational and/or program area.
• HRIS concepts, data processing, and workflow design.
• Methods for planning, organization, and prioritizing multiple duties to ensure the ability to meet deadlines.

 

Skill/Ability to:

• Provide analytical and technical support to users of Workday, translating business needs into functional requirements, and finding solutions for pain-points. 
• Evaluate, test, and implement system enhancements to improve efficiency and user experience. 
• Maintain strong attention to detail when performing mass updates in Workday that impact job structures, compensation, and employee records.
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure consistency and alignment across all Workday HCM areas, guiding stakeholders to maintain cohesive processes and configurations that support an efficient end-to-end system experience for employees. 
• Develop and deliver clear training materials, user guides, and communications to support process or system changes. 
• Plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks while meeting critical deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff and maintain cooperative working relationships.

The examination process will consist of an application screening (weight: pass/fail) based on the candidates' applications and responses to the supplemental questions. Candidates who pass the application screening will be invited to a panel interview (weight: 100%), which may include the evaluation of a brief writing exercise given immediately preceding the interview. 

 

Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations or further evaluation of work experience may be conducted to group applicants by level of qualification. The Planning and Delivery subdivision of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is responsible for providing a safe, reliable and connected multimodal network. The Project Manager I (PM1) is responsible for the surface level integration of the new CBTC system with SFMTA’s existing traffic signal infrastructure.  The work will include systems engineering to integrate various pieces of infrastructure to ensure compatible functionality (e.g. CBTC can communicate with traffic signal controller software and output the desired signal outcomes). The PM1 should possess expertise in traffic signal systems and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), including but not limited to: signal timing parameters, traffic signal design, Transit Signal Priority (TSP), network communication protocols and devices, as well as familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the systems engineering architecture and standards established by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).  The candidate must also have prior experience overseeing the integration of ITS devices, such as TSP and emergency vehicle preemption, with the D4 traffic signal controller software.

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT DUTIES:

• Oversee internal staff and consultants to develop protocols and procedures to integrate CBTC technology with existing traffic signal infrastructure
• Develop calculations for traffic signal timing card changes to reduce transit travel times and improve transit reliability

How to qualify

4. California registration as professional engineer or architect.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Position Duties

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Transportation, the Information Technology (IT) Manager will plan, lead, manage, and execute the technology and innovation efforts of DOT.

This position is open until filled with a first review date scheduled for November 21, 2025.

The DOT Information Technology (IT) Manager will refine and manage the DOT information technology roadmap, which fuses departmental priorities and opportunities with technology and resource needs. The business plan includes coordination with the IT Department to assess centralized capabilities and opportunities for partnership and advancement of key strategies and systems. Some of the top priorities include:

Implementing innovative field technology improvements and integrated data systems – With the transportation and utility infrastructure spread across 178 square miles of the City, most of the Department’s work, particularly maintenance of the infrastructure, occurs in the field. With
the growth of advanced technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) the City has an opportunity to strategically deploy innovations that could save time and resources, as well as improve response times. The IT Manager will work with the IT Department, the City Manager’s Office, and other City Departments to lead the assessment of existing processes and systems to identify, develop, and implement automated workflows to improve efficiency and productivity.

Automating, updating, and supporting multiple IT Systems – DOT has a number of important IT needs and coordination efforts that are identified and prioritized in the DOT IT Business Plan. These projects include the maintenance and development of feature request applications in our Salesforce Work Order platform, updates to the Geographic Information System (GIS), and upgrades of various administrative and engineering databases.

Coordinating Civic Innovation – The DOT IT Manager will also play a lead role in planning and implementing DOT’s Civic Innovation Projects. The transportation industry is dramatically changing around us with the emergence of Automated Vehicles, highly advanced traffic signal management systems, and complex data reporting and analytics capabilities. In alignment with the San Jose’s technology vision and in coordination with the Mayor’s and City Manager’s Office, the DOT IT Manager will build upon current momentum to make San Jose one of the most innovative cities. The IT Manager supervises and/or coordinates staff in the Information Systems Analyst, Senior Geographic Systems Specialist, Systems Applications Programmer, Network Engineer, Innovation Program Manager, and Network Technician classifications.

Key General Responsibilities:

• Develops, coordinates, guides, and maintains IT system strategic and tactical plans in support of the department’s overall direction and within the framework of Citywide IT protocols and standards.

Education

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The approved salary range for this position goes up to $183,248. Employees in the Department Information Technology (IT) Manager classification will also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay.

This position is part of SVP’s Systems Support Group (SSG) — the technology backbone of the utility — which provides reliable, high-quality technical support and systems management for SVP’s staff and operations. The Information Technology Systems Specialist plays a key role in help desk and deskside support operations, providing timely and effective technical assistance to end users. Core responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues; performing system deployments, imaging, and upgrades; managing user accounts and access; and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation. THE POSITION

The main role for this position of Cybersecurity Analyst I/II will focus on Cybersecurity. The candidate that fills the role will assist in defining enterprise cybersecurity policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures to ensure a robust and current cybersecurity program. They will also be responsible to monitor and analyze cybersecurity incident-related data and determine the appropriate response.

 

 

DEFINITION

Cybersecurity Analyst I: Under general supervision, provides professional level work, including the design, implementation, evaluation, and daily management of security systems and solutions; and performs duties related to threat detection and prevention, education, risk assessment, compliance, governance, business recovery, forensics, and incident response. This position requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, as well as the ability to work in a dynamic, public service-oriented environment. Other duties would include but not limited to assisting Network Administrators with items relating to the Network Administrator position.

 

Cybersecurity Analyst II: Under limited supervision, provides advanced level work, including the design, implementation, evaluation, and daily management of security systems and solutions; and performs duties related to threat detection and prevention, education, risk assessment, compliance, governance, business recovery, forensics, and incident response. This position requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, as well as the ability to work in a dynamic, public service-oriented environment. Other duties would include but not limited to aiding other Network Administrators with items relating to the Network Administrator position. Positions in this class require frequent use of a high degree of independent judgment and interpretative ability.

 

Positions in the Cybersecurity Analyst II classification are flexibly staffed and normally filled from advancement from the Cybersecurity Analyst I class, or when filled from the outside, require specific cybersecurity technology experience. Appointment to this class requires the employee to be performing substantially the full range of Cybersecurity Analyst II duties and to meet the qualifications for the class. The class requires the ability to work independently exercising judgment and initiative and a greater knowledge of the City’s security systems and solutions.

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

 

Architects, implements, monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots various security systems that protect the City’s networks, IT/OT systems (including SCADA), applications and critical infrastructure; designs, organizes, modifies, installs, secures and supports security infrastructure; and provides technical support for network and security issues associated with enterprise applications; analyzes both raw and processed security alerts, logs and event data to identify potential security incidents, threats, mitigations, and vulnerabilities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge of:  Network security, threat detection, and incident response; common cyberattack methods such as phishing, ransomware, and malware; security tools like firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and encryption technologies; government regulations, data protection laws, and compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI-DSS, CJIS, NIST, NERC CIP, ISO 27000, etc.) is essential, as is the ability disaster recovery planning and maintaining cybersecurity policies tailored to local government infrastructure is critical for ensuring the safety of sensitive public data and services.

Cybersecurity Analyst I: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in cybersecurity or information security roles, preferably within government or public sector organizations.

Education:
