The Department of Public Works Technology Services Section is recruiting to fill multiple Geographic Systems Specialist I/II (GSS I/II) positions on the Enterprise GIS Team. These are data-focused positions that will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and ensuring the integrity of enterprise GIS datasets as well as providing ongoing support for Enterprise GIS activities and development of technology solutions that maximize the delivery of City products and services.  The individuals selected for these positions will work primarily in the production group of the Enterprise GIS Team. Under the direction of a Senior Geographic Systems Specialist, the incumbents will perform the key responsibilities listed below:

• Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geographic information.
• Create and maintain enterprise GIS datasets using versioning and Workflow Manager. Interpret resources such as engineering plans, assessor’s maps, and discrepancy report to enter graphic and attribute data into GIS while maintaining data integrity.
• Perform quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components.
• Use SQL queries to produce weekly reports on the status of plans and other documents received.
• Use ETL (extract, transform, and load), Model Builder, or scripting tools to design and create GIS processes.
• Assist with troubleshooting problems encountered in GIS production work.
• Develop workflows and documentation for various GIS tasks.
• Develop geospatial products, including maps and other products as required.
• Respond to requests for GIS data, analysis, or reports as directed using appropriate GIS tools and following City protocol.
• Coordinate intern training and work assignments.
• Work under supervision of a project manager or senior team member.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for one bilingual candidate to serve as a Mental Health Specialist (MHS) whom will provide mental health support services to mentally ill and emotionally disturbed person as part of the Adult/Older Adult Full Service Partnership (FSP) Program. The MHS will appeal to individuals who are inspired working with an engaged community by providing participant advocate and case management services to moderate to severe mentally ill adults and is a field based position.  The MHS will report to the Program Supervisor.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Plan and provide a variety of rehabilitative support services to mentally ill and emotionally disturbed persons to attain, restore, or improve physical, mental, or emotional functioning;
   
• Provide assistance to clinical staff; participate in group and individual support programs;
   
• Serve as a participant advocate; provide case management services;  the ability to work in the field to service clients at their home, shelter or elsewhere;
   
• Maintain records of all activities relating to client care and adhere to  billing compliancy standard;
   
• Perform other duties as assigned, etc.

Position Description

The District has one regular, full-time opening for the position of Automotive Mechanic II in the Facilities & Watershed Division. Interested persons must submit a completed District application and Supplemental Questionnaire to the Human Resources Department no later than the filing deadline.

Under general supervision, performs service and repair work on a variety of District vehicles and gasoline and diesel-powered equipment; and to do related work as required.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is a journey-level position that requires a broad spectrum of experience in the diagnosis and repair of automotive vehicles and equipment. Incumbents in this class perform the full range of vehicle and equipment service and repair work from oil and lubricant changes, engine overhauls, tune-ups, smog checks, to the repair of mobile construction equipment and small gasoline powered equipment. Incumbents are expected to train workers, apply safety regulations to work assignments, and prepare and maintain written documents using a computer.

Examples of Duties

Typical duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Performs major overhauls on engines, transmissions, transfer cases and differentials for all types of District vehicles and equipment;

• keeps current of new technology and practices and maintain certifications as required;

• utilizes diagnostic programs and performs smog tests;

DEFINITION

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Experience:

Four (4) years of full-time professional experience in parks, roadsides, streets and/or building maintenance, including two (2) years supervising full-time and/or temporary workers.

Education:

Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade with additional coursework in supervision, horticulture and/or public works management preferred. A Bachelor’s degree preferred.

LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S)

Possession of a valid Class C Driver’s License with a good driving record, or license in

another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire. First Aid and CPR Certification is required and may be obtained during the probationary period.

Initially, under immediate supervision, incumbents perform the more routine and less complex assignments within an established procedural framework where there are minimal consequences of error, including a wide variety of maintenance and construction tasks. This classification is alternatively staffed with Maintenance Worker II and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating a level of proficiency that meets the qualifications of the higher level class.

Maintenance Worker II – Buildings & Streets

The Maintenance Worker II – Buildings & Streets is the journey level class in the Public Works Maintenance series in which incumbents are expected to independently perform the full scope of assigned duties. Incumbents perform a full range of maintenance and construction tasks. Incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating a level of proficiency that meets the qualifications of the higher level class. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Lead Maintenance Worker, which is responsible for performing the more complex maintenance assignments and has lead responsibility duties.

Performs a variety of maintenance, repair, construction and installation work in streets and building and grounds maintenance. The Public Works Department is looking to fill two (2) Air Conditioning Mechanic vacancies. The Air Conditioning Mechanic position is responsible for performing HVAC duties at more than 200 civic building sites across San Jose. The position will be responsible for performing the operational support, adjustment, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance of heating, ventilating, air conditioning systems and auxiliary equipment.

This position will require controls experience, mechanical equipment experience, and water treatment experience.

Duties include but are not limited to:

     * Inspecting, repairing, performing preventative maintenance and routine testing of heating, cooling, air-conditioning, ventilating equipment and controls; and chiller and low pressure boiler maintenance.   

     * Operating, diagnosing, and programming HVAC equipment and systems via computer controlled LON/BACKNET Energy Management Controls, such as Schneider Electric, Alerton, Johnson Metasys.

     * Servicing DX refrigerant and hydronic chilled/hot water distribution piping systems and components and HVAC units for commercial facilities.

     * Repairing/replacing actuators, valves, compressors, controls, etc. in a refrigerant or hydronic piping system or HVAC unit.

     * Using safe job practices, including wearing the proper PPE and making the job area safe before proceeding to work.

     * Conducting chemical tests on water and determining potential issues and causes of HVAC piping and connected components.

     * Maintains cooling towers and sump basins as well as filtration systems.

     * Responds to calls for emergency repair service.

     * Maintains operating logs and related records.

     * Replaces sub-assembly units; inspects safety cut controls.

     * Performs other related work as required.  

Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative. Incumbents should possess ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects averaging a weight of 50 pounds, or heavier weights, in all cases with the use of proper equipment.
