The San José Fire Department is looking to fill a Senior Geographic Systems Specialist position within the BAS/Fire IT division. This role will manage mapping projects and, when applicable, application development activities to support the mapping function. Under the direction of the Department Information Technology Manager, the key duties and responsibilities of this position include:
 

• Oversee GIS data management efforts, including Fire-specific layers, ensuring the quality and timely input of the data. This involves performing quality control and quality assurance (QC/QA) and assisting with hands-on data management to minimize backlogs.
• Coordinate with various departments and the Enterprise GIS team on Fire data conversion and consolidation efforts, contributing to the Enterprise GIS data repository.
• Provide geodatabase development and programming (SQL Server), with the ability to understand complex database concepts, interfaces, and the implications of different database designs.
• Assist in the development and management of GIS project plans, including defining requirements, setting tasks and resource assignments, and ensuring standards, deadlines, and quality standards are met.
• Ensure City staff using GIS receive necessary training and technical support.
• Hire and manage GIS teams, including GIS I/II specialists, cartographers, data managers, analysts, and vendors, to meet GIS project objectives and timelines. Build team capacity to provide GIS project support, training, map production, and analysis services in addition to data management.
• Perform analytical analysis with large datasets.
• Prepare and perform data modeling and create entity-relationship diagrams.
• Develop, document, use, and troubleshoot workflows.
• Troubleshoot software issues related to all GIS service delivery functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About Zookeeper Full Time/Part Time: The position performs work involving the care and feeding of zoo, domestic farm, and/or non-domestic animals and maintenance of enclosures, grounds and service areas; working with animals under all types of climatic conditions to prepare them for presentations, training, capture and restraint, basic husbandry, and behavioral enrichment. Under the administrative direction of the Ports Finance and Administration Division, the Information Systems (IS) Director plans, directs, and coordinates information system operations and activities for the Port of San Francisco. This includes overseeing system design, development, and implementation, as well as coordinating data and information systems across departments. The IS Director is responsible for the operation and maintenance of these systems.

The Port is in the process of replacing several business-critical systems in the next five years, including real estate and work order management systems.  The IS Director will lead these efforts, requiring the creation of a systems strategic plan that aligns different systems with the Port’s primary business needs while integrating with citywide financial and payroll systems.  This plan will involve collaborating with business divisions to identify and prioritize system requirements, such as vacancy, profit and loss, and common area expense allocation reports for the real estate portfolio, as well as berthing management systems for various visiting ships and boats.

The IS Director will also identify necessary business division process changes and establish short- and long-term deliverables. This position oversees two distinct functions: an applications group responsible for implementing and maintaining technology applications tailored to the Port’s needs, and an infrastructure group that ensures a stable and secure environment for desktop and mobile devices.

The essential duties of IS Director include the following:

• Develops and implements the strategic systems plan for the Port.
• Leads the IS division, building capacity and supporting the infrastructure and business applications teams.
• Plans and directs the day-to-day information systems activities for the Port, including application and infrastructure support, desktop administration and IS Help Desk support services.

The City of East Palo Alto is seeking qualified candidates for a Building Inspector I/II. Under direct or general supervision, the Building Inspector I/II performs routine to complex inspections at various stages of construction, alterations, and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial building sites to enforce building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and environmental codes, and other governing laws and ordinances. Apply First Aid methods and safety precautions related to assigned programs.  Develop and maintain support for programs from the community and local organizations.  Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Oversee train and evaluate assigned staff.  Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of the required duties.  Operate office equipment, including a personal computer.

Ability to:

Develop cooperative public relations with the general public.  Remain calm in stressful situations.  Be consistent when enforcing rules and regulations.  Maintain authority and control over programs.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.  Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

Two (2) year of increasing responsible experience in the delivery of recreation services. A Bachelor’s Degree may be substituted for one year of experience.

License or Certificates:

When only assigned to recreation duties, the following is required and must be maintained during the course of employment.

• Required upon hire:
  •  Valid California Driver’s license,
• Required within six months of hire,
  • Possession and maintenance of a current American Red Cross First Aid Certificate or equivalent and
  • Current American Red Cross Community CPR Certificate or equivalent

THE POSITION

The City of Rocklin is looking for two Maintenance Workers to assist in the Parks Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. The Maintenance Worker is a temporary position and incumbents work on an as-needed basis, not to exceed 28 hours per week and up to 999 hours per fiscal year. Temporary employment does not provide any guarantee of continued employment and the City of Rocklin may end the assignment at any time. Temporary employees are not eligible for any other benefits except where required by law, and there is no guarantee of future permanent employment.

An example of duties are:

• Performs flood control measures by clearing creeks of obstructions, keeping drains clean and clear, and preparing sandbags in case of emergency.
• Performs crack sealing of asphalt, and backfilling trenches and excavations on City streets; performs repair, maintenance, and construction of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters.
• Removes concrete, builds forms, pours concrete, and performs other concrete work around City buildings as required.
• Empties trash cans, picks up and removes debris, litter, and trash from parks, athletic fields, trails, and landscaped areas throughout the City; removes graffiti and other unwanted markings from City-owned property.
• Plants, mows, prunes, and maintains turf, trees, shrubs, and plants; clears sites of weeds.
• Performs construction and repair of landscapes and other park facilities such as installing and maintaining signs, installing park structures, and installing and maintaining fences.
• Paints or stains and pressure washes and cleans park amenities and fencing.
• May apply pesticide, herbicide and other pest management treatments to vegetation and landscaped areas.
• Makes minor adjustments on service equipment; maintains tools and equipment in working order.
• Operates trucks, trailers, and other automotive equipment as required.
• Maintains logs of daily activities.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Equivalent to graduation from high school
AND
Three (3) months of experience as a laborer in construction, maintenance, or landscaping work 

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
