The Lifeguard/Swim Instructor position may be assigned to the following areas:

Lifeguard

Under general supervision, the Lifeguard performs lifeguard duties in enforcing City public swimming pool rules and monitoring pool patron conduct; perform emergency rescue and lifesaving techniques.

Swim Instructor

Under general supervision, the Swim Instructor performs swim instructor duties in planning, coordinating and teaching swimming and water safety courses, enforcing City public swimming pool rules and monitoring pool patron conduct.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this classification. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.

Lifeguard

• Enforce swimming pool rules and regulations, including ensuring orderly conduct by pool patrons.
• Assist in providing instruction for a variety of swimming classes for all ages and ability levels. Assist swimmers who are in distress and administer a variety of first aid and/or life saving techniques, as appropriate.
• Assist in maintaining pool areas in a safe and clean condition.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Swim Instructor

• Assist in providing instruction for a variety of swimming classes for all ages and ability levels.

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships, engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving, and leveraging financial and volunteer resources. The Department’s nationally and internationally recognized programs support thousands of residents throughout their life course, from infants to elders. The department offers a hybrid working environment which is friendly, supportive, collegial and, where staff of many disciplines come together to problem solve, compassionately assist those in need, learn together and share successes.

General Description

As a Mental Health Counselor in the Human Services Department, incumbents will provide a full range of culturally responsive intake assessments, individual, family and group counseling, and crisis intervention services to enhance the mental health of those in need.

The Counselor is part of a larger Human Services team that includes psychologists, nurses, social work case managers, a family partner (peer support specialist), substance use disorder intervention specialists, and interns. Counselors receive continuous clinical training, consultation and professional development opportunities and receive supervision from a Clinical Supervisor.

The current vacancy is for a part-time (20 hours per week) position is the Youth and Family Services (YFS) Division with prorated benefits working with children, youth, and their families.

Examples of Duties

• Conduct intake assessment which includes, psycho-social functioning, family and peer relationships, cultural/language needs and family strengths; develop care plans that respond to the individual’s or families’ values and strengths.
• Establish clinical diagnoses and identify list of problems and needs.
• Provide individual, family and group counseling to enhance clients’ mental and emotional health, social functioning and independent living skills, using a variety of therapeutic and counseling techniques.
• Provide therapy and supportive services to individuals /children and families from varying cultural backgrounds.
• Coordinate care plan.
• Link clients to available social services, educational and medical resources as appropriate.
• Comply with City, state, county, funders and agency’s policies and procedures, legal and ethical standards, quality assurance goals and audit requirements.
• Prepare correspondence and reports on treatment histories, progress and other matters related to the client’s treatment.
• Write and maintain clinical records following City and Funders’ guidelines. Attend quality chart review, case consultation meetings.
• Meet and maintain billing goals on a monthly basis.
• Attend required agency meetings and professional training.
• Attend community meetings, participate in task forces and committees as assigned.
• Conduct classes and give presentations to community organizations as assigned.
• Conduct services where client is most comfortable and are most appropriate including office-based sessions, field based, hospital, telehealth, school and home-based sessions.
• May provide clinical supervision to entry level interns or trainees, training and assistance to other staff or volunteers.
• Utilize departmental electronic health record and billing system MyEvolv.
• May be required to work other than business office hours.

The Position

The Multipurpose Senior Service Program (MSSP) Case Manager will perform professional and clinical social work tasks and duties for older adults living with complex medical conditions to assist them to obtain optimum health, financial, and/or social services. As a member of the Human Services Department, this position reports to a Clinical Supervisor in the Aging and Family Services Division.

Under guidelines provided by the State of California, the MSSP Case Manager provides case management to frail seniors who are MediCal eligible and 65 years of age and older, to support them to live in their own home. This position joins a multi-disciplinary team of a social worker and a nurse and will perform case management functions in the cities of Fremont, Newark, Union City and Hayward. This position requires driving to conduct community visits, including visits to client homes and medical facilities. Participants in the MSSP program have significant medical and/or caregiving deficits and are at risk of further deterioration and/or institutionalization. The Case Manager will evaluate clients for medical appropriateness (RN only), conduct assessments (health and/or psychosocial), formulate detailed care plans, access/advocate for services, and monitor client care. The program serves a diverse client population, and the candidate must feel comfortable working with monolingual non-English speaking clients and/or through interpreters.

This is a regular, part-time position (32 hours/week) and will receive pro-rated benefits.

Examples of Duties

- Manage a caseload of 28-32 clients comprised of older individuals with complex medical conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive client assessments, and develop and monitor service plan.
- Collaborate with team members, Human Service programs, and community agencies.
- Conduct home visits and provide other community interventions as needed.
- Conduct inter-agency and/or family conferences.
- Advocate for clients in accessing services.
- Monitor services provided for each client.
- Maintain timely electronic documentation of services, reporting, and billing.
- Participate in peer chart audits and outside audit preparation.
- Prepare and present training, outreach, and educational sessions and materials.
- Supervise interns in graduate and undergraduate programs.
- Prepare written and statistical technical reports.

THE POSITION
Under the general supervision of the Campbell Community Center Supervisor, the Building Attendant oversees proper use and rental activity at the City of Campbell Community Center and other City facilities. The Building Attendant assignments include working special events at various City facilities. The Building Attendant performs basic custodial duties (moving tables, chairs, set-up AV equipment, set-up athletic equipment, moping, sweeping, empty trashcans, etc.), ensuring compliance of established rules and procedures for the use of the facilities. The Building Attendant work schedule is primarily during the late afternoon/evening hours Monday - Friday, and on weekdays (both day/evening shifts). Occasional week-day shifts may be available.

Salary Range: $15.50 to $18.00 per hour DOQ
Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Schedule:  Approximately 8-20 hours per week, including evening and weekend hours

Responsibilities: 

• Provides customer service to community center renters, class instructors and the general public at the Campbell Community Center;
• Opens buildings for scheduled events, performs set-up/take-down of tables, chairs, portable staging, dance floors, AV equipment, and other set-up equipment; supervises evening and weekend activities at the Community Center;
• Performs custodial tasks (emptying trash containers, cleaning tables, chairs, and restrooms, sweeping floors, etc.) as assigned. 
• Are responsible for the security of the site, as well as providing good public and customer relations;
• Additional responsibilities, as needed, may be assigned.

Qualifications: 

• Must be 18 years of age and equivalent to high school graduation.
• Must have a valid California Driver's License. 
• Must demonstrate the ability to work independently, follow oral and written instructions, display courteous public relations, and demonstrate safety and good judgment. 
• Previous experience in recreation, building maintenance, or customer service work is preferred.
