The City of Thousand Oaks Community Development Department is seeking an experienced, collaborative, forward-thinking leader to serve as its next Deputy Director of Operations. In partnership with the Director, Deputy Director of Planning, and the City’s Building Official, the new Deputy will provide direction and oversight to the department, which is responsible for ensuring that growth, housing, construction, and land use across the City remains balanced with Thousand Oaks’ environment and resources.
THE POSITION
The City of San Pablo is actively recruiting for a Senior Building Inspector who under general direction, leads, oversees, and participates in the inspection of complex building systems at various stages of construction, alteration, and repair; to coordinate and schedule inspections; and to participate in the review of building plans and specifications.
The Senior Building Inspector conducts routine and complex inspections of buildings and structures at various stages of construction, alteration, and repair to verify compliance with approved plans and applicable building, accessibility, fire, electrical, energy, mechanical, plumbing, zoning, and sign codes. This position also performs plan checks of construction documents, prepares inspection reports, and issues corrective actions when necessary, while maintaining strict adherence to safety regulations on all job sites.
DEFINITION
THE DEPARTMENT
Under the supervision of the Fire Marshal, is responsible for performing plan review, inspections, and other duties as required. The position will also be involved to varying degrees with public education, public relations, exterior hazard abatement, engine company pre-fire planning, record keeping, and report writing.
