The City of Livermore is currently accepting applications to fill one (1) Mechanic vacancy and one (1) Senior Mechanic vacancy in the Fleet Services Section of the Maintenance Division.

Mechanics at all levels perform maintenance and repair services on heavy/light City vehicles/equipment, such as fire trucks, automobiles, construction equipment, street sweepers, lawn mowers, stationary generators; and perform other duties as assigned.

The Mechanic is a journey level classification in the Mechanic series. The Mechanic performs a range of skilled tasks requiring journey level mechanical ability and aptitude. Work assignments are performed according to established rules and procedures.

The Senior Mechanic is an advanced journey and lead level position classification in the Mechanic series and may be distinguished from those in the Mechanic class by the broader range of responsibilities and leading a crew. Senior Mechanics provide lead direction and training to section staff.

The Wastewater Collection Systems Worker performs a variety of routine to skilled work in the construction, modification, maintenance, and repair of City infrastructure, including wastewater collection, stormwater and drainage, and related systems. The successful candidate will use and operate a variety of manual and power tools and light to heavy power-driven equipment to perform skilled and specialized work on drainage, collection, and related systems, and appurtenances, and perform related work as required. The department may hire at either the I or the II level depending on the skills, certifications, and licenses held by the pool of qualified applicants.

The department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Power Resources Specialist I/II position to support the Regulatory Compliance and Policy Division.

The ideal candidate is a skilled and highly motivated individual, with creative problem-solving skills, the ability to learn quickly, and the desire to work both independently and collaboratively. Good judgment, initiative, and cooperation with other staff and outside stakeholders are assets to this position. Under general direction of the Deputy Director, this position will be responsible for supporting the division's engagement in state regulatory affairs to protect and advance San José policy, business, and community interests.

Typical duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:
• Monitor, review, interpret, and explain to a variety of audiences regulatory proposals and other policy issues with an eye toward impact on SJCE and its customers.
• Respond to compliance and data requests by gathering relevant data, drafting reports, and receiving approvals within designated timeframes.
• Support the preparation of comments, position papers, testimony, and the like related to a variety of technical regulatory proceedings impacting SJCE energy procurement, energy management, and electric rates.
• Work independently and with stakeholders to influence state policy.
• Build and maintain stakeholder relationships including non-profit, business, and government entities, and where appropriate build regional and statewide coalitions to support the interests of the department.
• Work closely with technical experts and external regulatory counsel to develop effective and persuasive communications before state agencies as required.
• Represent SJCE in work with other CCAs and with SJCE's state trade association
• Manage a portfolio of regulatory proceedings and/or compliance reporting, including tracking issues, analyzing potential impacts, engaging with stakeholders, and communicating with other internal divisions.
• Perform other related duties as required.

The Position

The Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo seeks a collaborative, innovative problem solver, experienced with housing authority operations for the position of Executive Director to provide exceptional leadership at a high-performing agency.

With general direction from the Department of Housing Director and Housing Authority Board of Commissioners, the Executive Director organizes, coordinates, and directs through management staff all Housing Authority functions and activities; provides policy guidance and strategic direction regarding housing issues; fosters cooperative working relationships with the Board, HACSM staff, the public and other agencies; and performs related work as assigned. This position has overall responsibility for department administration, policy development, financial, operational and planning functions, and other activities of the Housing Authority. The incumbent is responsible for accomplishing all HACSM goals and objectives in an effective, efficient, and equitable manner.

Example of Duties

• Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct through subordinate staff, the work of the Housing Authority.
• Establish organizational priorities; schedule and monitor the quality and timeliness of the work performed.
• Work closely with and advise the DOH Director, the Board of Commissioners, Housing Authority staff, the public and other agencies to implement a variety of efficient and effective housing programs
• Ensure compliance with local-, state-, and federally mandated standards.
• Provide ongoing vision for how HACSM and its programs integrate with the County of San Mateo.
• Direct the preparation of agenda items for the Board of Commissioners.
• Interpret, analyze and defend HACSM policies, procedures and programs.
• Coordinate the preparation and presentation of a wide variety of reports to the Board, the public and other agencies.
• Direct the development and implementation of management systems, procedures and the application of standards for program evaluation on an Authority-wide basis.
• Direct the creation and administration of the comprehensive annual budget for Housing Authority operations.
• Maintain current knowledge of federal, state and local laws and ordinances affecting the Housing Authority.
• Promote racial and social equity within HACSM, its teams and processes, and through the agency’s public-facing programs.
• Provide supervision to the Housing Authority management team and advise the team on federal, state, County and Board policy.
• Foster a positive work environment valuing teamwork, equity, and high-quality work products.
• Represent the Housing Authority before the Board, and in other meetings involving local, regional, state, and federal stakeholders.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Three+ years of managerial experience in a social or community service program, preferably in a housing authority program.

The City of East Palo Alto is seeking qualified candidates for a Building Inspector I/II. Under direct or general supervision, the Building Inspector I/II performs routine to complex inspections at various stages of construction, alterations, and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial building sites to enforce building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and environmental codes, and other governing laws and ordinances. The Building Inspector I/II provides a variety of information to property owners, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors; and performs related duties, as assigned. The Building Inspector II differs from the level I in that is the advanced level classification in the Building Inspector series. Work is normally reviewed upon completion and for overall results. Incumbents also provide lead direction and functional supervision to assigned clerical, technical, and professional staff.
