DEFINITION:

Under the general direction from Union City’s Cybersecurity Manager and/or Director of Information Technology Services, the Cybersecurity Intern will fulfill a variety of valuable functions. These include identifying and tracking Cybersecurity issues and incidents, gathering relevant data for troubleshooting and problem solving, interacting with Union City staff, working with cybersecurity applications and tools, monitoring systems for security events and alarms, preparing assessment and reports, and other duties as assigned.

• Monitor cybersecurity tools to identify security events.
• Help analyze cybersecurity alarms and incidents.
• Assist with email security operations.
• Assist with vulnerability management activities.
• Draft and review cybersecurity policy documents.
• Help with cybersecurity Awareness and Training activities.
• Assist with compliance reporting.
• Create and update Excel spreadsheets for analysis.
• Manage Microsoft OneNote and SharePoint folders and content.

THE POSITION

Under supervision of the Public Works Manager, the Maintenance Worker I performs entry level unskilled, semi-skilled, or skilled labor in construction, maintenance, and related service activities applied to the areas of general landscaping, grounds maintenance and street maintenance.

 TYPICAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Grounds Maintenance:  Operate mowers and other equipment and tools for purposes of cutting grass, trimming trees and shrubs, and planting and transplanting flowers, bulbs, shrubs, and trees.
• Storm Prevention Maintenance:  Assist in cleaning ditches, culverts, and storm drains.
• Street Maintenance: Assist in repainting of pavement markings, basic pothole, and street repair; installation and repair of street signs and markers; mixing and application of Class III pesticide materials.
• Vehicle/Equipment Maintenance:  Assist in the care, maintenance and cleaning of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• General:  Contact residents concerning maintenance and service problems; refer complaints and requests to proper supervisory personnel. Assist supervisory personnel in preparing and maintaining proper records and logs. Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS

The general knowledge of basic construction methods, materials and terminology, standard hand tools, light equipment, and light vehicles; general knowledge of basic safety precautions and practices necessary in working with hand tools, light equipment, and vehicles; general knowledge of basic methods and practices involved in the care of shrubs, trees and flowers. Ability to learn technically complex construction and maintenance procedures in water systems, streets, parks and building maintenance; use hand and power tools; perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time under inclement weather conditions; work alone or with small groups.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid California driver's license and ability to maintain a satisfactory driving history.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Completion of high school or its equivalent, or completion of a trade or vocational school.  Some directly related experience is desirable.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Monthly Salary: $4,855 to $6,269 per month. Placement within the range will be based upon the selected candidate’s experience and salary history.
• Health/Medical Benefit: Health/Medical Benefit: Choice of coverage with Kaiser or Blue Shield. The City pays 80% of monthly premiums at each coverage level. In lieu of medical coverage, the City will contribute $400 (employee only coverage) or $500 (employee + 1 coverage) or $600 (family coverage) in cash or a pre-tax contribution into a MissionSquare Retirement 457 deferred compensation plan.
• Dental Coverage: City-paid dental plan for employee and eligible dependents.

 SELECTION

POLICE ASSISTANT

Salary Range: $19.85 to $30.87/hour; temporary part-time, non-benefitted position, DOE

DEFINITION

The Police Assistant is a civilian, non-sworn, uniformed position that is responsible for a variety of customer service-based interactions with the community. Duties include non-hazardous enforcement of municipal parking laws and regulations as well as clerical front counter tasks related to phone and walk-in contacts at the police department.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from the Administrative Assistant. Projects are assigned, and the person usually works with very little supervision. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

• Handle confidential administrative duties at the front desk.
• Answer/forward all incoming phone calls.
• The ability to multi task phones with walk-in traffic
• Perform a variety of research & staff work; prepare reports.
• Maintain records using computers.
• Maintain filing system.
• Coordinate Parking Permits for business employees.
• Receive and respond to complaints and reports of routine parking incidents from the public.
• Respond to public complaint of abandoned vehicles; document and schedule tows for abandoned vehicles; and ensures proper disposition of illegally parked vehicles; patrols city streets and issues citations on vehicles parked in an unlawful manner.
• Assist in organizing and coordinating department events and community outreach programs.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael is recruiting for a Child Care Director.  Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, this position will perform responsible work in administering and managing a state-funded preschool program.  The incumbent in this position will independently oversee the program and staff at Pickleweed Preschool located in East San Rafael. 

This position performs the following essential job duties: 

• Assist with the establishment of the program budget
• Hire, train, and supervise staff
• Supervise timely completion of annual ECERS
• Supervise completion of DRDP assessments twice annually
• Supervise timely completion of parent surveys
• Supervise timely completion of two parent conferences annually
• Supervise timely ongoing child portfolios
• Supervise and implement systems for creating and maintaining regular written child observations
• Complete annual June 1st report to Department of Education
• Schedule staff and ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained
• Facilitate parent nights for families four times per year
• Liaison with parents and school districts
• Function as classroom instructor
• Approve Child Care Instructor II curriculum and plans
• Organize regular staff meetings
• Oversees referrals of children for assessment and special services
• Complete annual written evaluations of all staff
• Perform other duties as required.

To be eligible for this position you must have knowledge/skill of:

THE POSITION

The current opening is for a full-time position and is under the direction of the Police Records Supervisor. The Police Records Clerk will provide a wide variety of clerical, typing, and computer data entry tasks related to Police records; maintaining accurate Police statistics, records, and files; conducting business and transactions with the public, in person and by telephone; is available for occasional night and/or weekend duty as required, and performing other related work as required.

BASIC EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Program Assistant - Receptionist

Salary Range: $17.64 - $29.22/hour, depending on experience.

DEFINITION

Perform a wide variety of general clerical and/or operational support duties at the Danville Community Center and Senior Center, such as serve as a receptionist, operate a telephone system and assist/direct callers and visitors according to established procedures.

• This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position.
• 10-20 hours per week; not-to-exceed 950 hours per calendar year.

SUPERVISION

General supervision is received from the Administrative Assistant with indirect supervision from the Program Supervisor. May exercise supervision of part-time personnel and volunteers as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:

• Deal directly with the public and internal staff.
• Provide information to the walk-in public.
• Register participants and support facility reservations using Active Net software. 
• Assist at the Danville Senior Center front desk as needed.
• Provide administrative support on special projects, as assigned.

• Assist in proofreading the Activity Guide and other marketing materials.

• Communicate with a variety of programming staff to resolve customer inquiries.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to handle multiple tasks, have strong computer skills and excellent customer service skills. Must be able to work a flexible schedule throughout the year.

Knowledge of:

• Correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
• Modern office methods, procedures and equipment, including office automation hardware and software.

Education:

The equivalent of the successful completion of the twelfth grade; some college experience preferred.
