Distinguishing Characteristics:  The Library Clerk  is a part time permanent position with the St. Helena Public Library.  Under direction of the Adult Services Supervisor, this person will work such duties as checking books in/out, answering telephones, preparing library cards, and providing reference and readers advisory services. The Position

The Executive Assistant performs a variety of highly responsible, complex and confidential clerical, technical administrative and secretarial duties for a department or division. This position is the advanced journey-level class in the City’s clerical support job series.  Under the direct supervision of the Department Director, the Executive Assistant will provide administrative support to a department or division in areas such as budget preparation and management, personnel, department programs or functions, as well as providing responsible secretarial support to management and professional staff which requires frequent use of tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment. 

The Executive Assistant position can be assigned to any department in the City.  Currently, there are vacancies in the Fire Department, Public Works Department, and City Manager’s Office.  The City Manager’s Office position is a limited two-year term position.  The Executive Assistant to the City Manager works under the direction of the City Manager and general supervision of the Assistant City Manager.  This position requires a high degree of proficient communication, secretarial, managerial, organizational and analytical skills and knowledge of the operations, policies, functions, and organizational relationships of the City Manager's Office.

Ideal Candidate

The Position

Under the supervision of the Facilities Field Supervisor, the Custodian performs a variety of tasks associated with the custodial care and maintenance of City buildings.  Duties include performing repairs and maintenance (painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical), cleaning and sanitizing,  maintaining custodial equipment and tools, maintenance service records logs, locking facilities as needed,  using tools such as floor buffers, steam cleaners, carpet cleaners, washers, vacuum, mops, broom, dusting equipment, small hand and power tools, and motor vehicles, and providing excellent customer service to employees and other individuals within the City.

THE POSITION:

Under broad managerial supervision, provides overall direction of the Administrative Services Department within the guidelines set up by the County Administrator. What You’ll Do

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Forensic Laboratory, which is accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board in both Testing and Calibration, including the Property Unit's activities is seeking to fill a Property Officer position within the Forensic Laboratory.

The Forensic Laboratory is located in San Mateo, California and was newly constructed in March 2003. This Property Officer will report to the Records/Property Manager.

Successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring proper quality assurance and quality control measures relevant to the proper storage of physical evidence. This includes maintaining temperature logs, maintaining accurate chain of custody, safety awareness for controlled substances and firearms, inventorying items of evidence, multi-tasking, and attention to minor details.

Definition:  Under the supervision of the Recreation Director, Recreation Services Manager or Recreation Coordinator, develops and supervises a segment of recreation programs and may provide Recreation-related transportation services.    
                                                                              

Essential Duties:  Depending upon assignment, the duties of a Recreation Specialist include:

Under supervision of Recreation Department staff the Recreation Specialist plans, promotes, develops and supervises a portion of the recreation programs. Typical duties include: planning and implementing programs/special events, managing facilities/rentals (including setups), assisting in front office day-to-day operations, and assisting in youth/adult sports. Attend meetings, workshops, and other related duties as required. Possess the ability to communicate positively with the public, volunteers, and staff.

Special Requirements:  Possess adequate vision to supervise participants in recreation programs. Be able to speak clearly and understandably. Be able to bend, stoop or crouch and have enough physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds and assist clients. Hours may vary with evening and weekend hours required at times. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to:  Work with Microsoft Office programs. Exercise independent judgment in performing job responsibilities. Supervise and direct volunteer and paid staff using positive communication skills. Organize and/or direct groups and individuals participating in senior, youth, and adult programs, and special events. Think and act quickly in emergencies. Work to maintain and help create an action oriented atmosphere with both the public and staff. Understand and carry out written and oral directions. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors. Practice basic recreation skills in a variety of areas.

Education:  The successful candidate should have equivalent to four years of education in an accredited university or college. One (1) year or more years of related work experience can be substituted for an equivalent amount of work experience. 

Experience:  Experience equivalent to two years of experience in recreation, transportation, education or a related field.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid California Drivers’ License with a satisfactory driving record

Certificates:  Must possess a current First Aid and CPR Certificate. This requirement can be completed within the first month of hire.
