The City of Patterson is currently recruiting to one (1) part-time position for Pool Manager with the Recreation & Community Services Department for their Summer program and to establish an Eligibility List. Under the supervision of the Recreation and Community Services Director and the Recreation Coordinator, the Pool Manager will be responsible for the operations of the pool. The Pool Manager will be expected to schedule Lifeguards to work as well as oversee the Lifeguards. The Pool Managers are to teach Lifeguards the pool policies and to assist any Lifeguard in decisions made at the pool. The Pool Manager must also be able to resolve confrontations from citizens if not to direct them to the next person in the chain of command. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is established for 28 hours a week, but will vary depending on programming needs, and will be working weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time Recreation Leader position in the Recreation Department for their Senior Program and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include, but are not limited to: under supervision, works with staff to provide programs and activities for Seniors; organizes and teaches participants games and activities such as dance, music, arts & crafts, etc. and with assistance, coordinate, schedule, and plan the programs; ensures participant safety and well being during all activities; ensures the proper handling of first aid and emergency situations.  

 

The City of Patterson is seeking to fill several part-time Recreation Specialist position in the Recreation Department for their Summer sports program and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include, but are not limited to: implement a wide range of programs that foster community development that include youth/adult sports, special events, open gym, and youth development activities.  This position will require assistance of general office duties and may include supervision of volunteers and staff, and performs related duties as assigned.

The City of Patterson is seeking to fill several part-time Cashier positions in the Recreation Department for their Summer program and to establish and eligibility list.  Duties include, but are not limited to: under direct supervision, responsible for collecting concession fees, and admissions. Responsible for the financial integrity of all funds collected and is responsible for tallying and reconciling funds received at the end of the shift. Deposit daily aquatic revenues as instructed at appropriate city facility or with appropriate staff.  Prepare financial reports related to pool and concession revenues.  Responds to phone inquiries, rental requests and performs registration of aquatics programs.  Performs other work as required.

The Summer program typically runs June 1st through August 31st.

The County Executive’s Office seeks qualified candidates for the position of Outreach and Enforcement Associate in the Office of Labor Standards and Enforcement.

Launched in July 2025, the Office of Labor Standards and Enforcement (OLSE) promotes fair labor practices throughout San Mateo County. OLSE’s core functions include conducting outreach and education to workers and employers within San Mateo County about their rights and obligations in the workplace and enforcing labor standards that protect San Mateo County workers through coordinated investigations and efforts to secure compliance.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Labor Standards Manager, the Outreach and Enforcement Associate will lead OLSE’s community outreach and engagement work, support civil investigations and enforcement actions, and manage projects to support OLSE’s implementation. Spanish fluency is required for this position. 

The Outreach and Enforcement Associate’s key responsibilities will include:

• Outreach and Community Engagement:
  • Plan and implement culturally and linguistically appropriate labor standards outreach campaigns targeting low-wage workers and their employers, prioritizing outreach consistent with geographic and industry priorities, with buy-in from key stakeholders. 
  • Execute a wide range of outreach activities, including mass mailings, door-to-door canvassing, flyering, tabling, presentations, workshops, and events.
  • Deliver presentations to and facilitate discussions with low-wage workers and small businesses, providing clarity on workplace rights and resources available to support labor compliance.
  • Develop and maintain educational materials that present information responsive to community need in an accurate, accessible, and engaging manner.
  • Build partnerships and cooperative working relationships with County departments and various community, public, and regulatory organizations.

• Enforcement Support and Intake Coordination:
  • Receive and respond to complaints, inquiries, and requests for support from workers, employers, and members of the public, implementing OLSE’s intake procedures and best practices for ensuring all stakeholders who contact OLSE receive clear, helpful, in-language, and timely information and complaints are investigated promptly.
  • Conduct initial interviews with workers seeking OLSE assistance by phone and in-person; identify worker priorities and make recommendations for appropriate next steps.
  • As assigned, and under supervision, conduct investigations of potential violations of laws within OLSE’s jurisdiction, including interviewing workers, engaging with employers, calculating damages, and drafting investigation reports.

• Project Management:
  • Support the development and implementation of OLSE workflows and processes, including the implementation of a case management database.
  • Coordinate contract solicitations and assist with the maintenance and monitoring of OLSE contracts.
  • Prepare reports on OLSE activities and outcomes.

Additional duties include but are not limited to:

• Assist in developing goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards. 
• Analyze programmatic practices and procedures and make recommendations for organizational, operational, policy, and procedural improvements.
• Conduct needs analyses, feasibility studies, and evaluations.
• Support Office of Labor Standards and Enforcement programs and projects.
• Continuously monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of operations and service delivery methods and procedures to maximize funding and minimize costs. 
• Develop, summarize, and maintain administrative and fiscal records.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations.
• Conduct special research projects and financial analyses for countywide programs and usage, produce findings and recommendations, and prepare related reports.
• Represent the Office in interdepartmental, community, and professional meetings and confer and coordinate with other County staff on a wide variety of administrative analyses and planning issues.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, State, County, and funding agency regulatory and reporting requirements and applicable laws, regulations, and professional practices.
• Prepare and submit Board of Supervisor agenda reports and various other commission, committee, and staff reports, resolutions, ordinances, and correspondence regarding assigned activities.
• Attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions and review publications and related materials to become and remain current on principles, practices, and new developments in labor standards, labor laws, and enforcement.
• Communicate orally, in writing, or through graphic representations and statistical summaries with colleagues, managers, employees, the public, organized employee groups, and representatives of various organizations.
• Participate, as requested, in selecting, training, motivating, and evaluating assigned staff and interns; direct the work activities of assigned staff; prioritize and coordinate work assignments; provide or coordinate staff training; review work for accuracy; and work with employees to correct deficiencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and the Pool Managers, the Lifeguard will be responsible for the safety of the patrons at the Patterson Aquatics Center.  The Lifeguard must remain alert and knowledgeable as well as physically fit.  Duties include, but are not limited to: maintain the office, answer phones, maintain correspondence with the public and respond to all inquiries, be generally available to answer and refer patrons to resources within the community; teach swim lessons; enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations; recognize and respond effectively in emergencies; complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.  All Lifeguards are responsible for keeping the facilities clean and safe for all patrons.

The Public Works Program Manager leads and supports a diverse team of professional, technical, and administrative staff while overseeing a key functional area within the Public Works Department. This role plays a critical part in planning, coordinating, and delivering high-quality public services that positively impact the community. DEFINITION

Under general supervision, provide recreational and educational instruction and activities, social development, guidance and care for preschool and elementary age children by leading and assisting in the selection and coordination of a variety of activities and curriculum at a childcare site.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Child Care Lead Teacher is the lead teacher in the classroom.  Child Care Lead Teachers may also be asked to temporarily oversee a school site when a Site Coordinator is offsite.  If a situation arises where a Site Supervisor is unavailable for an extended period of time a Child Care Lead Teacher with a Site Supervisor Permit will be asked to act as a temporary Site Supervisor.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

General supervision is provided by the Child Care Site Coordinator. Child Care Lead Teacher  supervises the classrooms to which they are assigned, including Child Care Aides, Associate Teachers, Teachers, and Full-time Teachers that are assigned to their programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Assist in the development of a diversified program of recreational games, sports, arts, crafts, and other activities for elementary school children.
• Assist in the development of a diversified preschool curriculum of music, science, math, dramatic play, social studies, literature, and recreational activities.
• Plan and lead a variety of activities appropriate to children of various age groups.
• Participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and events.
• Instruct children in the safe and proper use of supplies and equipment. Instruct children in proper health and hygiene care.
• Assist in the selection and arrangement of field trips, special events and guest speakers.
• Assist with the preparation of site nutrition program.
• Assist with developing discipline techniques and maintaining acceptable classroom behavior from participants.
• Drive/Transport children using City of Pacifica City vans.
• Participate in cleaning and maintaining the facility and equipment.
• Inspect the site and equipment for potential safety hazards; take corrective action to prevent injuries.
• Assist in monitoring site supplies.
• Assist in recording numbers for attendance and nutrition reports. Perform related duties as assigned.
• Assist Site Supervisors with the evaluation process for Childcare Aides, Associate Teachers, Teachers, and Full-time Teachers (I/II) that are assigned to their programs.
• Attend and participate in required in-service training activities.
• Assist Site Coordinator in preparing yearly State of California Desired Results reports, including managing children’s portfolios, and monitoring student progress by using Desired Results Developmental Profile and designated online educational platforms.
