The City of Lincoln is hiring for the seasonal and part-time position of Recreation Aide I – Summer Day Camps within the Recreation Department.  This position will be working as a Day Camp Leader.  The Recreation Aide I is the entry level class and is responsible for performing less complex assignments within an established procedural framework where there are minimal consequences of error. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Recreation Aide II by the performance of more routine, repetitive and less complex assignments.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED
Receives supervision from administrative and/or management staff. Incumbents of this class do not routinely exercise supervision but those at the higher levels may be asked to supervise from time to time but not on a consistent basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Include but are not limited to the following:

• Develop and implement activities and programs for youth.
• Directly supervise children, monitor and redirect behavior, both on site and during trips.
• Assist with the creation and distribution of advertising material for upcoming recreational programs and events.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Maintenance Worker I is the entry level class responsible for a wide variety of maintenance and construction tasks. This classification is alternatively staffed with Maintenance Worker II and incumbents may advance to the higher-level after gaining experience and demonstrating a level of proficiency that meets the qualifications of the higher-level class. The Maintenance Worker II is the journey level class responsible for a wide variety of maintenance and construction tasks. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Senior Maintenance Worker in that the latter performance the more complex assignments and lead responsibilities.

The Maintenance Worker I receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor. Incumbents of this class do not routinely exercise supervision.  The Maintenance Worker II receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor. May exercise technical and functional supervision over assigned staff.

• Performs maintenance, repair, construction, equipment operation and installation work in streets, water, sewers, refuse collection, parks and buildings.
• Streets: Breaks, removes, crack seals, hydropatches, and repairs surfaces; digs, shovels, hauls, loads and unloads materials; operates jack hammers, tampers, pavement breakers and other hand and power tools; rolls and irons asphalt; operates trucks, backhoes, rollers, pavers, street sweepers and other construction vehicles and equipment; assists in the installation and maintenance of City signs, road markings, striping and delineators; paints street lines and crosswalks; performs concrete sidewalk, curb, gutter and ramp installation and repair; installs, maintains and repairs street lights; installs shoring and trench plates; monitors underground service alert (USA’s) and marks when necessary; conducts street leaf pickup; mows roadsides.

• Solid Waste: Operates a variety of collection vehicles and equipment including front, rear and side loaders in the collection and transportation of residential and commercial refuse; drives to landfill site when vehicle is full and unloads material; evaluates and updates assigned routes; cleans, maintains and inspects assigned vehicles; maintains daily logs.
• Fills out reports and work orders; climbs or uses hydraulic aerial devices to top, trim, reshape, strip, treat and remove trees; operates airport fueling vehicles; responds to after-hours call-outs if assigned.
• Demonstrates a full understanding of applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; may provide training to lower level staff; responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves public service complaints.

LIBRARY SPECIALIST – RECEPTION – ROHNERT PARK HEADQUARTERS

40 HOURS PER WEEK – FULL TIME

This position has a fixed (non-flexible) schedule of Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm with a 1-hour lunch, while our Headquarters building is open to the public.

TYPICAL DUTIES include, but are not limited to:

 Administrative / Reception duties:

• Open and close the front door of Headquarters (HQ) on time daily
• Professionally answer incoming phone calls to Library Headquarters (these can be anything from Library patrons, cold calls from vendors, quick transfers, etc). Excellent customer service skills are required and a broad knowledge of all Library operations and personnel is helpful in transferring callers to the right person, branch, or department.
• Greet and direct visitors, monitor the public entrance to HQ, maintain a safe and secure Reception area, and present a welcoming presence
• Print and post hard copies each morning of the scheduled meetings and trainings for the two HQ meeting rooms
• Print and post Commission meeting agendas to front door of HQ
• Collect and return materials belonging to schools back to the Sonoma County Office of Education
• Unpack and organize government documents that are received in the mail

Collection Services duties:

• Check-in new periodicals daily using the Serials module of Horizon, including printing and applying labels, barcodes, etc.
• Place purchase orders for new books and materials daily using the Acquisitions module of Horizon
• Receive, barcode and label comics for each branch
• Apply and encode RFID tags
• Receive and invoice shelf ready materials in the Acquisitions module of Horizon
• Work on special projects for the Cataloging Department as time allows
• Work on other miscellaneous projects relating to Collection Services functions or other HQ departments and admin managers as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and two (2) years of library, customer service, clerical or office support work experience.  An Associate’s degree, or higher, from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Incumbent will perform repetitive arm/hand movements using a keyboard and mouse, and will grasp/handle materials that weigh up to and occasionally more than 25 pounds. Incumbent will push wheeled carts weighing up to or occasionally more than 100 pounds.

SALARY RANGE:               $23.51/hour to $29.37/hour plus benefits

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

This class works under general supervision, by a Supervising Library Specialist, Branch Manager, or other Librarian classification, wherein the assigned duties require the exercise of judgment or choice among pre-established actions, sometimes without clear precedents, but with concern for the consequences of the action. The employee may or may not work in close proximity to his/her supervisor. At the Public Services level, the employee may provide branch specific assistance to volunteers, Library Aides, and other inexperienced staff. At the Collection Services level, the employee may provide work direction and assistance to volunteers, Library Aides and other inexperienced staff in specific area of function.

Class Characteristics          

This is the journey-level materials support and customer service class in the clerical and technical library support series, assigned responsibility for the full range of circulation or collection services activities, including direct patron support and routine ordering, receiving, cataloging, and processing tasks.  Incumbents advise patrons of library policies, procedures, and services, resolve customer issues within established policies, and provide basic technological and reference support to customers.  Responsibilities also include assisting and training patrons on self-service equipment, answering routine directional and informational questions, and referring the more difficult technical or involved questions to appropriate paraprofessional or professional library staff. 

At this level, incumbents work independently within identified parameters and resolve problems of diverse scope where analysis requires evaluation of identifiable factors.  Maintaining confidentiality and security of patron accounts is an important part of the position.  Performance expectations include the application of broad job knowledge in performance of the full range of responsibilities within the classification.  This classification also performs shelving work and incumbents may provide general administrative and clerical support as needed.

Physical Demands

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office and library setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone.  This classification primarily works indoors and requires movement between work areas.  Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve materials and data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment.  Positions in this classification frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach to retrieve and shelve materials.  Employees may be required to either sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.  Incumbents must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items, storage containers, and shelving units weighing an average of 20 pounds, and up to 50 pounds of weight, in order to move materials from one place to another, with the aid of lifting/moving equipment.

The City of Albany has an immediate opening for the position of Maintenance Worker II. 

Under general supervision, the Maintenance Worker II performs a variety of tasks in maintaining streets; storm drainage and sewer systems; parks, landscaped areas, and grounds; buildings; and vehicles, equipment, and tools. This position will focus heavily on irrigation. Duties include maintaining and repairing park equipment and irrigation systems, including time clocks and programming of irrigation controllers.

The Maintenance Worker II may serve as a team leader when working on a specific project with other Maintenance Workers and may be asked to provide informal guidance and “coaching” to new Maintenance Workers.

This is the journey-level classification in the Maintenance Worker series, and requires thorough knowledge, experience, skills, and abilities to perform all or most of the typical City maintenance tasks listed below, either independently or working as part of a team with other Maintenance Workers.

Examples of Job Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Performs sewer and storm drain maintenance including:  flushing, rodding, and cleaning
• Operates hand and power tools, and light and heavy construction equipment. 
• Paints traffic lanes, markers and curbs; paints by hand, and operates power paint spraying equipment. 
• Understands the fundamentals of signage.
• Operates pressure washing and steam cleaning equipment. 
• Maintains, inspects, and repairs signs and performs graffiti removal. 
• Operates sign pole installation equipment. 
• Operates power street sweeping equipment.

• Performs repairs to the exterior of buildings such as painting and gutter repair; and to interior systems, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, floor coverings, painting, heating and air conditioning, appliances, locks, and security systems. 
• Provides emergency custodial services, pest control and graffiti removal.

• Performs mowing, weeding, trimming, pruning, cultivating, fertilizing, pest control, planting and cleaning of lawns, trees, plants and parks. 
• Cuts up and removes fallen tree branches and trees. 
• Removes and disposes of trash and litter. 
• Maintains and repairs park equipment and irrigation systems, including time clocks. 
• Operates small trucks, dump trucks, ride-on mowers, walk-behind mowing equipment, weed eaters, edgers, and similar power equipment. 
• Utilizes a variety of tools and related mechanical equipment.

• Operates, and performs basic maintenance and repair, as required.

Minimum Requirements

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

• High school diploma or GED, or completion of a job or technical training program in general construction, street maintenance, grounds keeping, building trades, or a closely related field; and

• Four years of directly-related work experience

• Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends

• Must possess a valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record

• Must possess knowledge of the basic principles, methods, materials, tools, terminology, techniques, safe work practices, and problems associated with the maintenance of streets, sewers, storm drains, grounds, landscaping, buildings, vehicles and equipment. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

The Maintenance Worker II may be exposed at times to raw sewage and associated waste matter.  In the event the State of California issues regulations requiring technical certification of sewer maintenance workers, employees in this classification will be required to obtain and maintain the technical certification required by the State.

We are seeking an energetic, service-oriented individual who is a team player and thrives in a fast-paced office environment.  The Accounting/Customer Service Representative will be responsible for a wide range of customer service and accounting support functions in the Finance Department. 

Primary responsibilities:

• Handle high volume of customer interactions by telephone and in person; research issues and provide information to the public
• Process payments and issue business licenses and permits
• Review and process parking citation appeals and payments
• Prepare water and wastewater utility accounts; conduct research to resolve problems; issue billings and adjustments

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Recreation Leader III reports to the Recreation Coordinator. The position is responsible for: planning, organizing, and leading a variety of recreation activities. Typical activities include but are not limited to the following: environmental education, arts, crafts, sports, games, contests and special events for a particular group of participants, maintaining communication with the public, promoting and ensuring safety procedures, must be able to work with fellow recreation leaders to assist in the implementation of recreation activities and perform other related duties as required; such as department wide special events, teen programs, preschool programs, office duties, facility attendant, and senior programs.

This position is also responsible for maintaining communication with the public, promoting, and ensuring safety procedures are followed. The Recreation Leader III must be able to work with fellow recreation leaders to assist in the implementation of recreation activities and perform other related duties as needed and assigned such as: department wide special events, teen programs, preschool programs, administrative office duties, serve as facility attendant, and provide support with senior programs.

COMPENSATION:
This is a part-time, seasonal position. Approximately 29 hours per week.

Recreation Leader III - $18.75 to $21.75 hourly (Depending on experience)

Temporary employees are non-benefited, at-will positions. Since the City does not participate in Social Security and is required to provide an alternative retirement plan, you are required to participate in the City's defined contribution retirement plan through Nationwide where 3.75% of your gross compensation per pay period is deducted and put into the plan. The City matches this 3.75% for a total contribution of 7.5% of your gross compensation per pay period.
