About the Adult Protective Services (APS) Program

APS is a state-mandated program responsible for investigating allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation involving older adults and dependent adults. Abuse may include physical, financial, emotional, sexual abuse, neglect, isolation, or abandonment.

APS Social Worker IIIs conduct face-to-face home visits, complete comprehensive psychosocial assessments, develop service plans, and coordinate interventions across multiple systems. Investigations may be conducted in collaboration with law enforcement, the District Attorney’s Office, health care providers, and community partners.

The program is built on a foundation of client rights, empowerment, and person-centered practice, aiming to strengthen safety, reduce risk, and support clients’ ability to remain in the community whenever appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

This Social Worker III will:

• Respond to allegations of abuse throughout San Mateo County and complete thorough assessments of client strengths, risks, and needs.
• Conduct face-to-face home visits, psychosocial evaluations, and develop individualized service plans in alignment with state mandates.
• Collaborate closely with law enforcement, hospitals, behavioral health, community agencies, and informal support networks.
• Attend required APS state training and participate in Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings to support coordinated care.
• Provide crisis intervention and implement a wide range of social work strategies aimed at mitigating risk.
• Assess need for services such as health care, in-home support, personal care, money management, substitute decision-making, or conservatorship.
• Prepare documentation and maintain accurate, timely case records across multiple information systems.
• Participate in quality improvement efforts and contribute to ongoing program development.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• A Master’s degree in Social Work.
• Experience responding to allegations of abuse or providing crisis intervention.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

LICENSES

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of skills and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.

The Eligibility Specialist classifications determine the eligibility of applicants and recipients for public assistance programs through interactive interviewing and fact gathering; maintain current knowledge of program regulations and procedures necessary for multi-program caseload administration; initiate and process casework through automated systems; identify needs and make appropriate referrals for health, social, and/or employment services; and perform related work as required.

 

Eligibility Specialist I:
The Eligibility Specialist I is the entry-level classification in the Eligibility Specialist series.  Incumbents may have prior experience determining eligibility for loans, financial assistance, unemployment or veterans benefits, or publicly or privately funded health, counseling or social services programs; have completed initial classroom training provided as part of the Eligibility Specialist Trainee training program; or may have the required level of education. Incumbents will be placed in a work team and initially may receive classroom instruction prior to being assigned casework and/or tasks. Incumbents will work under close supervision while learning to independently determine public assistance eligibility, and apply knowledge and skills learned from their training in completing eligibility tasks and applying complex regulations. As incumbents gain experience and work toward the journey level in the series, they are expected to work with more independence and have the ability to complete more complex tasks and/or handle larger client caseloads. The City of Patterson’s Public Works Department is seeking to fill (1) one full-time Maintenance Worker position within the Parks division and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include but are not limited to: Under supervision performs routine manual labor, maintenance, and repair tasks while learning to perform a full range of semi-skilled work required in maintenance, repair, operations and construction of related facilities, parks, and services; performs other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates will be placed on an eligible list that may be used to fill future vacancies in the City’s Urban Forestry, Parks, Streets, Collections and Building Maintenance Divisions.  Eligible lists may be valid for up to twelve months.
 

THE POSITION

Tri-City is currently hiring to fill a full-time vacancy for the position of Peer Support Specialist I/II (PSS) within the Mental Health Student Services Act (MHSSA) program. The PSS position provides peer-to-peer support services in the office and/or in the field including, but not limited to outreach, support, encouragement, guidance, advocacy, and referrals to external resources and services for clients and their families; builds rapport with clients and their families through sharing stories of lived experience and recovery. Funding for this position will end on July 1, 2026. 

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Encourages and supports clients to fully engage in services; provides outreach and assists clients in addressing and overcoming barriers to treatment.
   
• Provides resources and referrals to address basic needs and other barriers to wellness and recovery including food, housing, clothing, transportation, and other financial resources.
   
• Assists clients with setting, implementing, and tracking wellness and recovery goals; develops individual Wellness and Recovery Action Plans (WRAP); models and shares effective coping strategies.
   
• Assists clients and families to understand behavioral health problems and steps to recovery.
   
• Provides support and guidance in navigating systems and obtaining additional support services; attends meetings and therapy sessions with clients (as needed); assists with completing applications and forms; and ensures client concerns are address and processes understood.

The City of Livermore is currently accepting applications for the position of Water Distribution Supervising Operator.  Under direction of the Water Distribution Operations Manager, the Water Distribution Supervising Operator plans, organizes and supervises the Water Section in the Water Resources Division of the Public Works Department; coordinates work activities with other sections, divisions, and/or departments; provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to assigned staff; and performs other duties as assigned. This position has primary responsibility for supervising the day-to-day functions of the section staff and workload.
