The City of Sunnyvale is hiring (1) part-time Facility Attendant II in Library Services and a (1) full-time Facility Attendant II in Recreation Services in the Department of Library and Recreation Services!

City of Sunnyvale is recruiting a Facility Attendant II to provide essential facility support for Library and Recreation facilities, e.g. Lakewood Branch Library, Community Center (Recreation, Senior Center and Theater). This position independently prepares and maintains facilities, performs light maintenance, monitors use, and ensures a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff and the public. The Facility Attendant II also serves as on-site contact during evenings and weekends, assisting customers and part-time or contract staff. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and supporting community spaces and programs.

The full-time Facility Attendant assigned to Recreation Services will work a Sunday through Thursday on a flex schedule, with adjusting hours depending on rentals, division events and programs.  The part-time Facility Attendant assigned to Library Services will work a schedule to-be-determined, including some evening and weekend shifts depending on events and programming at the new Lakewood Branch Library.

The list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies in the Library and Recreation Services Department.

About the Position:  The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of facilities maintenance for Midpen’s Administrative Office, including building operations, vehicle fleet inspections, landscaped grounds, parking areas, and various physical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, painting, assembly, construction, electrical, data cabling, and security systems.  This unique position has a foundation in older residential property improvements in a rural setting, including spring systems, old style construction including log framing, historic farm building construction, multiple materials and additions to the buildings are all aspects and considerations for repairs and tenant improvements. This position is also responsible for non-routine repairs and improvements at Midpen’s field properties and performs preventative maintenance tasks, repairs, and minor improvement projects. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will coordinate  and oversee Midpen’s utilization of contractors and act as a point of contact for a wide range  of maintenance and repair tasks. Successful performance in this role requires broad  knowledge of facility maintenance trades and technical principles, as well as a professional background and the ability to effectively collaborate  with other Midpen departments. Work Environment:  This position is part of the  Facilities & Fleet Department and will be required to work onsite Monday through Friday on a 9/80 schedule.  Work will be performed at Midpen’s administrative office in Los Altos, field facilities, and also at residential properties located primarily in the field. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, be called back after hours and on weekends or respond to and perform work in emergency situations as required.  When conducting field assignments, work may include traversing rough, difficult terrain in inclement or hot weather with exposure to poison oak, wildlife and rodent inhabitants.  Duties will include building and facility work that will require climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.  Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in these types of conditions, as well as in an office environment. Positions in this classification must possess the ability to lift and carry materials and objects weighing up to 60 pounds and must possess the ability to push and pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds, with the use of proper equipment. Education and Experience: 

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: 

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level coursework in facilities management, construction project management or a related field or training in applicable trades, and
• Three (3) years of experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of buildings, structures and/or related facilities.

Completion of an apprenticeship program or the equivalent training in one or more of the construction trades is highly desirable.

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks has an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Analyst within the Facilities Division of the Finance Department. This position supports the analytical, administrative, and operational functions of the Facilities Division, which oversees City Hall, the Civic Arts Plaza theaters, libraries, and other municipal facilities.

This role supports a range of analytical and operational responsibilities, including contract administration, procurement preparation, budgeting support, and data analysis. The Assistant Analyst applies analytical judgment to manage vendor contracts, prepare draft staff reports and RFP materials, and analyze operational information to support effective facilities operations.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to exercise discretion and independent judgment while balancing multiple priorities.
 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Serve as a key administrative and analytical point of contact for the Facilities Division, ensuring accurate documentation, data integrity, and coordination across functions
• Conduct analytical research on vendors and suppliers, including cost comparisons, service levels, and performance metrics to support procurement decisions
• Monitor, evaluate, and analyze service contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance, performance accountability, and alignment with operational needs

Under general supervision, the Neighborhood Preservation Inspector. ensures compliance with applicable sections of the State, Federal, and Municipal Codes, ordinances, and in relevant areas, such as property maintenance, abandoned vehicles, planning, zoning, signs, community nuisance, and related areas.  This is a classification in the Economic and Community Development Department.

CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:

The Neighborhood Preservation Inspector is the full journey-level classification.  This position requires experience in both Municipal and Zoning Codes and Regulations. Employees at this level are expected to work with property owners independently and to coordinate City resources to solve neighborhood issues.

Summary Description

Representative Duties

1. Install new plumbing; maintain, repair, and replace plumbing systems and fixtures such as faucets, drinking fountains, water heaters, water closets, urinals, water regulators, and pressure valves; repair boiler and boiler piping and pumps.
2. Maintain, repair, and replace electrical systems including light switches, outlets, interior and exterior light fixtures, computer lines, electrical panels, and card readers; replace light bulbs.
3. Install and repair door lock sets; rekey locks and padlocks; cut keys.
4. Perform carpentry and trim and finish work; frame walls, doors, and windows; build or remodel offices; replace doors and windows; build or assemble cabinets, shelving, and furniture; hang, tape, and texture drywall.

Facility Maintenance Worker I - This is the entry level class in the Facility Maintenance Worker series. This class is distinguished from the Facility Maintenance Worker II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or no directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Facility Maintenance Worker II - This is the full journey level class within the Facility Maintenance Worker series. This class is distinguished from the Facility Maintenance Worker I by the assignment of the full range of duties assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and they are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level.

Under the general supervision of the Community Services Manager, the Clinical Supervisor supports with the development and achievement of Youth and Family Services goals and objectives. The Clinical Supervisor provides both clinical and administrative leadership within the Youth and Family Services Division. IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Community & Economic Development department (C&ED) has one (1) vacancy to be filled at either the Assistant Director of Community and Economic Development, Chief Building Official, or Deputy Building Official classification.

The ideal candidate for the Assistant Director of Community and Economic Development is a collaborative and strategic municipal leader with core competencies in Building and Code Enforcement with broad experience across community and economic development operations. This individual is a trusted partner to executive leadership, skilled in overseeing multiple divisions, advancing departmental priorities, and representing the City before the Planning Commission, City Council, boards, commissions, developers, and the public. The position will have direct oversight of the building and code enforcement division functions and will serve as the Chief Building Official.

The ideal candidate for the Deputy Building Official classification is a seasoned building inspection professional with strong technical expertise and proven supervisory experience. This individual brings comprehensive knowledge of California building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, accessibility, and energy codes, and is skilled in performing and overseeing complex commercial inspections and plan reviews. The successful candidate is an effective working supervisor who can assign and monitor workloads, coach and evaluate staff, and ensure consistent, high-quality inspections and customer service. They are comfortable serving as the primary point of contact for contractors, design professionals, and the public, resolving disputes and complaints with professionalism and sound judgment. The ideal candidate communicates clearly, collaborates effectively with other City departments and outside agencies, and provides reliable advice and support to the Chief Building Official to ensure the efficient, compliant, and customer-focused operation of the Building Division.

• Assist the Director of Community and Economic Development in managing and directing the Community and Economic Development Department.

• Serves as the City's Chief Building Official.
• Oversees the review and performs complex plan reviews of building, subdivision improvement and development plans, reports, calculations, and specifications in verifying compliance with building, fire, zoning, and other codes, ordinances and resolutions.
• Oversees and provides information to interested parties on the City's Building code, and subdivision and site development program including code provisions, procedures, required submittals and plan processing, and inspection schedules.
• Develops and implements division policies and procedures.
• Issues stop-work orders in situations of deliberate or negligent non-compliance.

Assistant Director of Community & Economic Development

• Any combination of education, experience, and training that would provide the best qualified candidates. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
  • Education: Possession of the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in urban or regional planning, economics, public administration, or another field of study applicable to the responsibilities and requirements of this job class. Possession of a master’s degree is desirable.  
  • Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible community and economic development experience, including (2) two years of supervisory experience. 

Chief Building Official

• Any combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
  • Experience: At least 6 years of progressively responsible professional experience construction related inspection and design review, and code enforcement with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity. Practical experience with principles and practices of organization, administration, budgeting, and personnel management for a municipal government is preferred.
  • Training: Equivalent to an associate degree from an accredited college with major work in construction technology, engineering, or related field.
    • ICC certification as a Building Official must be obtained within one year of employment
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    • Valid CA driver’s license is required.

Deputy Building Official

• Education/Experience
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent based on courses taken from an accredited educational institution.  Associate of Science degree in Building Inspection or related field is preferred.  
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in building inspection, including commercial, of which at least two (2) years must be in a supervisory capacity.

  • Valid CA driver’s license.  
  • Must maintain ICC certification in at least three of the following areas:
    • Commercial building inspector, combination building inspector, electrical inspector, plumbing inspector or mechanical inspector.  These certifications are required at time of hire.  
    • In addition, Plans Examiner certification from ICC is required, but may be obtained within 6 months of hire.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for individuals to serve as a Psychiatrist I/II for the Adult Outpatient Clinic/Adult Full Service Partnership (FSP) Department. The Psychiatrist I/II will provide medical and psychiatric treatment and diagnostic services to clients in the caseload of Tri-City and provide collaborative work with a multidisciplinary team in a public mental health agency. Provide integrated, effective, and high-quality behavioral health care to the residents of Pomona, Claremont and La Verne with moderate to severe functional impairment due to mental illness.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Perform intake and diagnostic interviews on a scheduled and emergent basis.
   
• Participate in diagnostic staff evaluation of clients.
   
• Provide medical psychiatric treatment of clients.
   
• Maintain and disseminate medical records and reports in compliance with Federal, State and Agency regulations, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, Public Law 111-005 (“HITECH Act”).
   
• Submit required statistical and other requested information on a timely basis.
   
• Consult and provide information to other agencies that are coordinating their work with that of the behavioral health service agency.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision of the Code Enforcement Officer, the Code Enforcement Inspector facilitates compliance with City Municipal codes, ordinances, California Codes, conditions of approval and resolutions relating to public nuisances, planning, zoning, construction, business licensing, animal control and other associated disciplines. Works collaboratively with other City Divisions and Agencies and actively participates as a member of the Code Enforcement Task Force. Tracks, updates and maintains investigations, complaint information and official records. Attends training to maintain or achieve Code Enforcement Officer Certification. Performs related work as required.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Investigate reported or suspected violations of City or California codes, and implement enforcement activities to gain compliance. Issue written notices and warnings, and criminal citations. Educate the public regarding code requirements. Conduct field inspections, gather-supporting evidence, maintain case files (both computer and hard files) and, as necessary, prepare investigation reports regarding violations. May assist in preparing and presenting information to the Planning Commission, City Council, Administrative Hearing Board and courts of law. Participate in and often coordinate joint code enforcement activities with other agencies. Speak before neighborhood and civic groups about the Code Enforcement Program and work closely with such groups to solve neighborhood problems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Basic code enforcement and investigation techniques; common California Codes relating to property maintenance, municipal codes, ordinances and resolutions related to public nuisances, planning and zoning. Effective and efficient techniques of public education, field inspections for code compliance, gathering and analyzing evidence and data, and preparing and presenting reports.

Ability to: Read, understand, interpret and apply laws, regulations, ordinances, resolutions, policies and other documents associated with enforcement duties. Maintain a positive attitude and work as a highly effective team member of the Code Enforcement Program, Economic and Community Development Department and the Code Enforcement Task Force. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Prepare and make verbal presentations to small and large groups, the Administrative Hearing Board and other official bodies. Prepare factually clear, concise and complete written reports and correspondence. Exercise good customer service skills with the public, outside agencies and staff. Interact tactfully to gain voluntary compliance with City codes. Identify code violations and exercise proper judgment in determining the degree of compliance with various laws and determine appropriate course of action. Assist City staff with interpretation and application of the codes used. Coordinate enforcement and inspection functions with other City departments. Competently use a desktop computer with a main program base such as Office 2010, to record, organize, and monitor all code enforcement activities. Follow established work procedures and practices, including adherence to sound safety practices. Drive a vehicle. Work under stressful and uncomfortable, cold, foggy and rainy climatic conditions. Perform inspections on substandard or unsafe properties, which may require climbing, crawling, kneeling, and bending. Interview witnesses and violators in a highly effective and professional manner. Interact positively and cooperate with co-workers, respond politely to customers, work as a team member, function under demanding time pressure, respond in a positive manner to supervision, and attend work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis.

Education: Possession of an AA degree in a related field. Additional education and training in writing, public speaking and areas related to code enforcement are desirable.

Experience: A minimum of one year of full-time, relevant public contact experience, with occasional public speaking, requiring problem solving and/or field investigation in code enforcement, law enforcement, investigations, or a comparable field that would provide the requisite knowledge needed to succeed in this position. Experience in the enforcement of municipal, planning and zoning codes and working with building or planning permits at a public or private agency is desirable.

Certifications: Possess, or obtain within 12 months from hire date, current certification as a Code Enforcement Officer from the California Association of Code Enforcement Officers (CACEO); or certification as a Housing Inspector from the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO- through the American Association of Code Enforcement). Certification under Penal Code 832 Module A (California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training) or similar police training is desirable.

License: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License.
