SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned rooms, buildings, and related City facilities.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1.       Sweep, scrub, wax floors; vacuum and clean rugs and carpets; clean restrooms; empty and clean waste receptacles.

2.       Wash and dust windows, walls, and blinds.

3.       Perform minor maintenance and repairs on equipment or buildings such as replacing light bulbs, fixing doors, or minor painting.

4.       Unlock and lock entrances to buildings; check buildings for security.

5.       Inspect buildings for safety, fire, and sanitary hazards.

6.       Operate a variety of electrical cleaning equipment; maintain and order custodial equipment and supplies.

7.       Perform various tasks in moving or rearranging furniture, desks and other equipment; set up room for meetings.

8.       Answer general questions from the public and City staff.

9.       May assist in training less experienced staff.

10.    Perform related duties as required.

Requirements:

1. Custodial work experience is desirable.

2. Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade.

3. Possession of a valid, California Driver License

4. Ability to work a flexible schedule that will require weekends.

OVERVIEW 
The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Construction Inspector with the Facilities Services office. 

The Construction Inspector is responsible for providing technical construction inspections of architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and related elements during construction or alteration of judicial branch buildings and facilities. Incumbents may direct the work of contracted staff, and/or may serve as specialists who work independently and deal with complex and/or sensitive projects relating to detailed technical inspections of construction materials, methods, and work quality, and monitor construction work for compliance with plans, specifications, and regulations. The Recreation Specialist is a unique position that is primarily responsible for specific projects or long term projects requiring relevant knowledge and expertise.

The City of Sunnyvale is hiring (1) part-time Facility Attendant II in Library Services and a (1) full-time Facility Attendant II in Recreation Services in the Department of Library and Recreation Services!

City of Sunnyvale is recruiting a Facility Attendant II to provide essential facility support for Library and Recreation facilities, e.g. Lakewood Branch Library, Community Center (Recreation, Senior Center and Theater). This position independently prepares and maintains facilities, performs light maintenance, monitors use, and ensures a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff and the public. The Facility Attendant II also serves as on-site contact during evenings and weekends, assisting customers and part-time or contract staff. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and supporting community spaces and programs.

The full-time Facility Attendant assigned to Recreation Services will work a Sunday through Thursday on a flex schedule, with adjusting hours depending on rentals, division events and programs.  The part-time Facility Attendant assigned to Library Services will work a schedule to-be-determined, including some evening and weekend shifts depending on events and programming at the new Lakewood Branch Library.

POSITION
To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance of City-owned buildings, equipment and facilities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Public Works Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain and repair City facilities, equipment, and building by performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, heating, air conditioning and mechanical repair work.  Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance and custodial needs; research and recommend effective solutions to maintenance and repair needs of the City.  Inspect, determine, and perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on assigned facilities and equipment.  Assign routine and special tasks to subordinates; coordinates the work of contractors and other assigned staff with other City employees and contractors.  Work cooperatively with others.  Regular and consistent attendance. 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Operate a variety of equipment including power saws, power sanders, drills, paint sprayers, plumbing snakes and rodders, routers and grinders.  Operate, maintain and repair a variety of mechanical equipment such as generators, engines and sump pumps.  Determine quantity and types of supplies, materials, tools and equipment needed for maintenance programs and projects; arrange for purchase and procurement of same; assure that maintenance equipment and tools are kept in good working order.  Read and interpret sketches, diagrams, drawings and blueprints.  Assist in the research and implementation of department policies and procedures.  Maintain time, material and equipment use records.  Troubleshoot, maintain and repair the City’s lock system.  Perform work in emergency situations.  Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  Two (2) years of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Facility Maintenance Worker II.

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of valid California Driver's License.  Building Operator Certification is desired.

About the Position:  The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of facilities maintenance for Midpen’s Administrative Office, including building operations, vehicle fleet inspections, landscaped grounds, parking areas, and various physical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, painting, assembly, construction, electrical, data cabling, and security systems.  This unique position has a foundation in older residential property improvements in a rural setting, including spring systems, old style construction including log framing, historic farm building construction, multiple materials and additions to the buildings are all aspects and considerations for repairs and tenant improvements. This position is also responsible for non-routine repairs and improvements at Midpen’s field properties and performs preventative maintenance tasks, repairs, and minor improvement projects. Work Environment:  This position is part of the  Facilities & Fleet Department and will be required to work onsite Monday through Friday on a 9/80 schedule.  Work will be performed at Midpen’s administrative office in Los Altos, field facilities, and also at residential properties located primarily in the field. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, be called back after hours and on weekends or respond to and perform work in emergency situations as required.  When conducting field assignments, work may include traversing rough, difficult terrain in inclement or hot weather with exposure to poison oak, wildlife and rodent inhabitants.  Duties will include building and facility work that will require climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.  Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in these types of conditions, as well as in an office environment. DEFINITION

Under the direction of the Transit Manager, the Transit Analyst II is responsible for carrying out a variety of analytical and technical assignments; and working on administrative and operational activities, analysis and special projects in support of Union City’s transit programs and services.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

This is the experienced-level class in the Transit Division. Work given to an incumbent in this class involves various tasks including, but not limited to, scenario planning, performance-based planning, financial forecasting, regional policy research and analysis, transportation demand management, general analysis and development of transit programs and services, research of new trends in public transit and comparing how Union City provides service delivery, and participation in coordination events or meetings on behalf of Union City. Incumbents in this class perform advanced analytical work while following City and departmental policies while exercising the performance of more complex duties. The Transit Analyst II has general knowledge of the operating procedures and policies of transit and/or transportation planning. The Transit Analyst II is distinguished from the Transit Analyst I in that it is the full journey-level, professional class in the division and works more independently.

• Use, review, and recommend web-based programs designed to provide information to the Computer Assisted Dispatch and Automatic Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL) systems used to track vehicles and provide information to the region’s 511 system, provide service planning, and can generate the required versions of the general transit feed services by the region and state.
• Researching and responding to public complaints and inquiries; participating in the design and implementation of administrative procedures.
• Provide general assistance with the Public Works Department.
• Perform related duties, responsibilities and assist in special projects as needed.
