DEFINITION

Perform a wide range of administrative and office support activities for the Recreation, Arts and Community Services Department, its Director and/or managers and supervisors to facilitate the efficient operation of the organization.  The incumbent should be organized, detail oriented, accurate and adept with various computer software.  Perform routine correspondence, field public inquiries, maintain departmental files consistent with the Town’s records retention policy; schedule appointments and meetings, procure supplies, assist with data entry and provide support related to the review, production, and distribution of staff reports.  

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from assigned management personnel. May exercise technical supervision over other clerical positions.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Perform general clerical duties related to assigned functional area, including formatting, copying, collating, compiling, binding and distributing simple and complex reports
• Type, format and edit letters, memoranda, staff reports, marketing materials, and public notifications and other documents.
• Compile and maintain complex, extensive paper, and electronic records and files; act as a resource for other employees on the material in files and records maintained or processed
• Assist with simple analysis as needed such as entering data and creating simple charts in Excel spreadsheets or entering data in the enterprise-wide financial software
• Order and maintain office supply inventories and ensure office equipment in working order
• Determine and manage priorities for multiple tasks to meet assigned deadlines
• Open, sort and distribute incoming correspondence or mail
• Schedule and coordinate meetings as required
• Work cooperatively with other departments, outside agencies, and the public
• Assist in the compilation and mailing of public notifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:           

• Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
• Working knowledge of enterprise-wide financial software preferred
• Bookkeeping principles and procedures; business mathematics
• Strong command of English language; spelling, grammar, and punctuation
• Type accurately at 45 words per minute

Ability to:      

• Communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written form
• Understand and follow a variety of oral and written instructions with minimal supervision
• Apply operating rules and procedures of assigned department

Four years (4) of experience performing duties comparable to those of an Office Assistant, including one year of standard bookkeeping duties.

OR

DEFINITION

Develop, organize, and implement delivery of recreation and social services to the citizens of Danville in accordance with program objectives set forth by the Recreation, Arts and Community Services Department. Perform professional duties in Community Centers, Village Theatre and Art Gallery, and/or Teen Centers, as assigned.

Receives direction from a Program Supervisor.  Exercises supervision over Program Assistants and other program personnel, as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Plan, implement and evaluate programs, events and services.
• Assist in recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating part-time personnel and volunteers.
• Conduct and attend a variety of training seminars, staff meetings, and community meetings.
• Recruit and orient contractual instructors and develop and monitor contractual service agreements.
• Prepare memos, correspondence, reports and public information in a variety of forms.
• Represent the Recreation, Arts and Community Services Department and Town to citizens, advisory bodies and community organizations and serve in a liaison role, as assigned.

• Maintain accurate records and compile program information and other data.
• Assist in monitoring facilities and equipment.
• Prepare and monitor program operating and revenue budgets; monitor expenditures and payroll in accordance with established procedures.
• Assume additional responsibilities in the absence of the Program Supervisor, as needed. 

Specific to Youth/Teen Services:

Program Coordinator will be responsible for implementing a variety of recreational, social and educational programs and services for youth, ages preschool through high school.  Work closely with the Town's Police Services Department, School District, community and human services agencies.  Motivate and facilitate various youth groups.

Specific to Sports & Fitness and Facility Management

Responsible for the development and implementation of sports programming, including aquatics, and organizing a variety of recreational sports leagues for youth and adults.  Work closely with the school district.  Supervises seasonal Aquatics program to include staff training and in-services. Requires a basic understanding of sports terminology, concepts, and rules. Responsible for sports & fitness fee classes offered in the Danville Activity Guide.  Support facility management through facility rentals.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's degree in recreation administration, public administration, or closely related field.

LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S)

Possession of a valid California State Driver's License, or license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire. First Aid and CPR certification is required but may be obtained during probationary period.

This is a temporary position and hours worked may not exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 thru June 30).

The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community. With input from local, older adults (age 55 years+) as our guide, the AFS team provides a continuum of supportive services, from health promotion activities to home-based end of life care. DefinitionUnder administrative direction from the Human Services Director, plans, organizes and directs a Division of the Human Services Department which provides specialized family services; and serves as a member of the department's management team.

Class Characteristics
This professional management classification in the Human Services Department may be assigned as Youth and Family Services Administrator, Aging and Family Services Administrator or Family Resource Center Administrator. Incumbent follows general guidelines or professional and administrative standards in accomplishing assignments; it is characterized by the responsibility to develop and implement mental and physical health and other social services that support self-sufficiency, strengthen families, help children achieve their optimal development, and help older adults remain independent and engaged in the community for as long as possible. Supervision for the Family Resource Center Administrator is jointly provided by the Human Services Director and leadership team of the Family Resource Center. Review of work is occasional or on a problem basis with incumbents presenting alternative courses for policy decisions. Routine and unusual problems are handled within the context of general plans, broad policies, budgetary limitations and professional standards. Successful performance is measured by total results. This classification is distinguished from Human Services Director by the latter's responsibility to plan, organize and direct the work of the Human Services Department, and from Clinical Supervisor by the latter's responsibility to supervise counseling or social work staff, to monitor the implementation of professional standards, and to provide training and direction to professional staff and interns. The Infrastructure Maintenance Division of DOT is looking to fill 16 full-time vacant positions. These positions perform work in the maintenance and repair of concrete, pavement, sewers, landscaping, traffic signs, and traffic markings. Duties include digging holes, trenches, and ditches. They also operate a wide range of hand, mechanical, and power tools, as well as a variety of light and heavy vehicles, trucks, and equipment relevant to work performed, ensuring compliance with safe working practices. Maintenance crews provide services seven days a week. Individuals in this classification may be required to work alternate work shifts, including grave and swing, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for an individual to serve as a Clinical Therapist I/II for the Adult Full-Service Partnership (FSP). You will lead and contribute to the successful preparation and implementation of community-scale air quality plans in partnership with Air District staff, community members, partner organizations, local governments, the California Air Resources Board, and other state agencies. You will work to support community steering committees and other community partners determine how to best improve air quality and reduce health disparities while centering equity and addressing environmental justice. To be successful in this role, you must be a strong team player, have strong communication, project management and analytical skills, and be able to work with people of varied backgrounds and perspectives, including low-income communities of color and communities overburdened by air pollution. You will leverage your knowledge of land use, transportation, air quality, equity and environmental justice to lead and conduct research, analyze issues, prepare community centered planning materials including preparing and delivering presentations, writing summaries and plan documents, and craft recommendations to support community and Air District decision making.

You will be responsible for leading collaborative efforts across the Air District, and for working in close partnership with a variety of stakeholders including communities and local governments. You will leverage your knowledge of land use, transportation, air quality, CEQA, equity and environmental justice to lead and conduct research, analyze issues, prepare and deliver presentations, develop planning documents and resources, lead environmental impact assessments, and crafting actionable recommendations.

You will need strong project management, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills and be willing and able to work with people of varied backgrounds and perspectives, including low-income communities of color and communities overburdened by air pollution.

• Lead the development and delivery of new and innovative policies, programs and projects to accelerate emission and exposure reductions in communities most disproportionately impacted by air pollution.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with community-based organizations, community members, local governments, regional, state and federal agencies to develop and implement local and regional air quality plans and programs.
• Lead collaborative projects and programs that actively engage staff from other Divisions to advanced local community health protection goals and objectives in overburdened, low-income, and communities of color.
• Guide difficult, sensitive or high visibility projects, including updates to the Air District California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Thresholds of Significance, Air Quality Guidelines, and supporting tools and technical guidance.
• Prepare and make presentations to Air District staff, Committees and Board of Directors, as well as members of the public, other stakeholders and community organizations.
• Lead and support efforts to achieve local, regional, state and federal air quality planning objectives through land use and transportation planning, policy research and development, and technical analyses and reports.
• Respond to inquiries from governmental officials, consultants, and the public related to CEQA, air quality, and other environmental planning issues.
• Coordinate the review of environmental impact assessments prepared by other agencies pursuant to CEQA and assist other Divisions in the preparation of Air District Lead Agency CEQA documents.
