Come join our collaborative and supportive department today. The City of Sebastopol is seeking an outgoing, empathetic, responsible, problem-solver to serve as a Police Communications Dispatcher. The Police Communications Dispatcher receives and processes routine and emergency calls. The incumbent will dispatch police and enter, retrieve, and use data from various automated law enforcement information systems. The successful candidate will coordinate with and transfer calls to other emergency service providers as appropriate. The individual will perform a variety of clerical and technical duties in support of the department’s operations. In addition, they will learn applicable policies, procedures, and work methods associated with assigned duties, and perform other related duties as required. This recruitment is to fill a full-time and per-diem position and create a list for anticipated future vacancies. We will be creating two lists, one for already POST-certified dispatchers and one for entry-level dispatchers.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Community Development Department, also known as CDD, is organized into four divisions — Building, Code Enforcement, Housing, and Planning. CDD has broad responsibilities including, but not limited to, long-range planning, review of applications for new developments, implementation of the City’s housing programs, and maintenance of neighborhoods. THE POSITION

• Perform technical level administrative duties in support of the City’s Below Market-Rate (BMR) Housing Program
• Research, collect, and analyze data and prepare draft reports related to the City’s BMR Program
• Create and manage workflows and administrative procedures for annual compliance monitoring of the City’s BMR portfolio
• Conduct BMR unit transactions, including BMR sales and re-sales, refinances and loan payoffs, and leasing of BMR/affordable housing rental units, in collaboration with City’s contracted BMR real estate agent and/or property managers of BMR/affordable housing properties
• Provide technical assistance on BMR program issues to Housing Division management and to property managers and tenants/owners of BMR housing
• Interpret City policies, procedures, laws, and regulations in response to public inquiries and complaints about BMR and affordable housing

The Administrative Technician receives general supervision from the Housing Manager or higher-level department personnel.

About the Position: The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) seeks a Public Affairs Intern to assist with a variety of tasks, including researching and writing for Midpen print and digital publications, creating web and social media content, representing Midpen at community events, working with community partner organizations, managing photo databases, drafting media advisories and press releases and other duties as assigned. This internship will provide valuable training in public affairs strategies and activities. This position reports to the Public Affairs Specialist leading media relations, with additional assignments from other communications project/program leads. The expected start date for this position is March 2026.

Basic Requirements: Internships are open to applications from current students or recent graduates (within the last 12 months). Successful candidates will have a background in public affairs, communications, public relations, marketing, policy and government, journalism, community relations, customer service or a similar field. Candidates who also have experience, knowledge of or an interest in natural history and sciences, environmental studies, parks and open space or interpretation would benefit from this internship. Experience with social media platforms and tools, website content management systems, event management and email marketing platforms are a plus. Possession of a valid California driver’s license is required. 

 Working Conditions/Schedule: The Public Affairs Intern will work at Midpen’s Administrative Office in Los Altos, CA.  Midpen offers a hybrid work environment for this position, and will be divided between on-site work at the Administrative Office in Los Altos, at-home office work and some outdoor work. Candidates should expect to work from the office a minimum of 2 days each week. This position will be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for in-person special events. The intern will be required to work the weekends of April 18 & 19, April 25 & 26, May 2 & 3 and June 6 & 7. This is a temporary position working 20 – 40 hours per week, which will extend up to a total of 950 hours over a 6-9 month period. This is a non-benefited position.

The City of San Rafael Library and Recreation Department is now accepting applications for the position of Facilities Attendant (Athletic Fields).    This position is responsible for supervision of athletic fields during assigned work hours while providing a positive and welcoming presence at the park.  The Facilities Attendant serves as an ambassador to park visitors, ensuring renters have access to their permitted spaces, unlocking soccer goals as needed, and promoting responsible use of the facility.  The Facilities Attendant also positively enforces park and field rules, encourages users to clean up after themselves, and helps to maintain a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all.  Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.

This recruitment is to fill a vacancy in our Wastewater Treatment Plant Division. If selected for our Wastewater Division, you will be working with our Collections division where they focus on conveying wastewater to the treatment plant by cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and other pipeline maintenance tasks.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general direction from the Assistant Community Development Director, the Associate Long Range Planner performs a variety of complex technical planning activities and completes work related to assigned areas of responsibility.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Supports development of City policy related to land use, urban design, housing, transportation, and related topics to support long range planning initiatives;
• Conducts research and analysis supporting planning studies and assists in preparation of planning reports and documents;
• Analyzes and prepares amendments to the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance;
• Provides technical assistance to other City staff and to the public in planning and development matters;
• Evaluates and analyzes small- and medium-sized development projects and proposals for compliance with City goals, policies, and ordinances and, as needed, facilitates environmental analysis;
• Facilitates applications for planning permits and environmental review, project manages their review by City staff, and prepares associated staff reports and presentations for the Zoning Administrator, Planning Commission, City Council, and other boards, commissions, and committees;
• Meets with applicants, professionals, citizens, organizations, etc. related to their projects and/or long range policy;
• Attends meetings of and makes presentations before community groups, the Planning Commission, City Council, boards, commissions, and committees, and other governmental bodies in coordination with supervisory staff, as required;
• Staffs the planning counter as needed;
• May be designated as liaison for the Architectural Advisory Committee or Historic Resources Advisory Committee at the direction of the Planning Manager or Community Development Director;
