THE OPPORTUNITY

The City of Pacifica is a beautiful coastal community just south of San Francisco with an exciting opportunity. We are currently hiring for a Maintenance Worker I to fill one vacancy with our Parks Division Teams. Under general supervision, this position will perform semi-skilled maintenance and repairs of City streets, sanitary sewers, storm drains, park and recreation landscaped areas, and other related work.

BASIC EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance-related duties involving manual labor of facilities, parks, storm drains, streets, etc.
• Repair irrigation systems, tools, recreation, and maintenance equipment
• Operate various motorized equipment such as  a tractor, gang mower, power mower, and other equipment
• Plants, waters, mows, prunes, sprays, and maintains hedges, lawns, trees, flowers and shrubs
• Maintains parks, restrooms, and common spaces. 

Willing to assist in these areas:

• Participates in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, curbs, gutters, sewers, storm drains, catch basins, barricades, sidewalks, parks, landscaped areas, and recreation equipment and facilities;
• Pours and finishes concrete;
• Operates cleaning equipment;
• Cleans out catch-basins and other storm-related preventive maintenance and removes litter from parks and other facilities;
• Operates compressors and pneumatic tools;
• Operates and makes minor repairs and adjustments to heavy power-driven equipment;
• Constructs forms for and does cement work;
• Performs brick work and building construction and maintenance work;
• Builds retaining walls;
• Repairs irrigation systems, tools, recreation and maintenance equipment; drives a truck, tractor, gang mower, power mower, and other light motorized construction equipment; plants, waters, mows, prunes, sprays and maintains hedges, lawns, trees, flowers and shrubs;
• Applies, tamps and rakes asphalt and related street construction and maintenance tasks;
• Repairs and replaces sewer and storm drainage pipe
• Performs basic carpentry, painting, plumbing and pipe-fitting work;
• Performs excavations and shoring for CCTV and underground utilities
• Performs street traffic control and sign painting which may include inventory,
• Operates storm water pumps
• May assist in purchasing
• Uses computer plotting machine
• Fill potholes in roadway
• Removes sand from roadways

• Mows and weeding lawns

Summary Description

Under immediate supervision (Facility Maintenance Worker I) or general supervision (Facility Maintenance Worker II), performs a variety of skilled facility maintenance and repair work on City buildings.

Representative Duties

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1. Install new plumbing; maintain, repair, and replace plumbing systems and fixtures such as faucets, drinking fountains, water heaters, water closets, urinals, water regulators, and pressure valves; repair boiler and boiler piping and pumps.
2. Maintain, repair, and replace electrical systems including light switches, outlets, interior and exterior light fixtures, computer lines, electrical panels, and card readers; replace light bulbs.
3. Install and repair door lock sets; rekey locks and padlocks; cut keys.
4. Perform carpentry and trim and finish work; frame walls, doors, and windows; build or remodel offices; replace doors and windows; build or assemble cabinets, shelving, and furniture; hang, tape, and texture drywall.
5. Perform painting work; prepare and paint or stain interiors, exteriors, and furniture of various material.
6. Performs welding, masonry, flooring, and general repair work on buildings and furniture.
7. Operate heavy equipment as needed.
8. Perform custodial duties as needed.
9. Monitor and update HVAC control program.
10. Operate and troubleshoot audio/video equipment used to record City Council meeting.
11. Maintain records of work performed.
12. Perform related duties as required.

Facility Maintenance Worker I - This is the entry level class in the Facility Maintenance Worker series. This class is distinguished from the Facility Maintenance Worker II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or no directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Facility Maintenance Worker II - This is the full journey level class within the Facility Maintenance Worker series. This class is distinguished from the Facility Maintenance Worker I by the assignment of the full range of duties assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and they are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level.

QUALIFICATIONS

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Knowledge of:

Operations, services, and activities of a building maintenance, repair, and construction program.

Materials, methods, terminology, equipment and tools used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of building structures and systems including those used in performing rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical, and painting work.

Operational characteristics of tools and equipment used in building maintenance activities.

Proper procedures used in the maintenance and repair of hand and power tools.

Basic mathematical principles.

Pertinent federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations including applicable building codes and ordinances.

Principles and practices of record keeping.

Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.

Ability to:

Perform skilled work in a variety of building trades.

Facility Maintenance Worker I

Education/Training:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

Experience:

Two years of increasingly responsible general maintenance experience in a variety of trades.

License or Certificate:

Possession of a valid California Driver License.

Possession of a valid forklift certificate within one year of employment.

Facility Maintenance Worker II

Education/Training:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in building trades is desirable.

Experience:

Two years of performing duties at a level comparable to the Facility Maintenance Worker I with the City of Ceres.

License or Certificate:

Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license.

Possession of a valid forklift certificate.

Glenn County is recruiting individuals to fill one full time position and multiple Part Time/Extra Help positions in the Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker I/II/III position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of County roads, bridges, and other related structures, and in various traffic control maintenance and  repair activities of the Public Works Agency; operates a variety of construction, maintenance and transportation equipment as necessary to complete daily tasks at the Glenn County Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker III position is the journey-level class in the series, and is distinguished from the Public Works Maintenance Worker II by the primary responsibility to operate heavy diesel and gasoline-powered construction equipment in the maintenance of roadways, drainage systems.

• Prepares roads for patch repairs, overlays, or chip seals; prepares mix for patching roads; repairs and reconstructs roads.
• Cleans roadsides and drainage systems; inspects and clears debris from drainage systems; conducts roadside burning as needed.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Parking Services Manager in the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department! 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead 15 dedicated parking staff delivering parking and mobility services to the Berkeley community. The parking portfolio includes three access-controlled City owned garages containing 1250 parking stalls and electric vehicle charging, plus paid on-street parking with hundreds of pay stations and thousands of parking meters. The City also has an extensive residential permit parking program. 

The Parking Services Manager is expected to manage revenue growth and control costs for a parking program that generates almost $14M annually. This position liaisons regularly with the City’s parking enforcement staff in the Police Department to coordinate these efforts. In addition to fiscal stewardship for long-term fiscal sustainability, parking is to be managed to produce additional benefits such as minimizing additional vehicle miles travelled and greenhouse gas emissions by pricing parking to generate turnover and availability. 

Responsibilities also include management of vendor contracts (parking meters, parking applications, enforcement, permit issuance, usage tracking, and industry support) and oversight of staff responsible for adjudication of parking citations, meter repair mechanics, coin collection, parking planning and operations, along with electric mobility staff. This position must provide technical expertise, vision, and managerial skills to lead this diverse team delivering customer friendly parking and mobility services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major courses in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field, and four (4) years of experience with management and supervisory responsibility for revenue collection functions or business facility management and development. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college course work on a year-for-year basis.

Certification as an Administrator of Public Parking (CAPP) by the International Parking Institute highly desirable. 

Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California Class C or higher driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record.

DEFINITION

Coordinate, organize, and implement delivery of marketing materials related to recreation to the residents of Danville in accordance with program objectives set forth by the Recreation, Arts, and Community Services Department. Perform professional duties such as scheduling to assist, coordinate, and implement Department and Town’s branding and communication efforts.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Experience:

Any part-time related professional experience in communications, public relations, or marketing work in a team environment or any equivalent combination of education or experience. Background knowledge or experience in municipal parks and recreation is desirable. 

Education:

Equivalent to completion of an Associate’s Degree and/or advanced experience in communications, public relations, or marketing. A Bachelor’s degree or working towards one in the field of marketing or recreation is desirable.

LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S)

Possession of a valid California State Driver's License or license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire. First Aid and CPR certification is required but may be obtained during probationary period.

The Department of Public Works is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Road Equipment Operator I.

The Road Equipment Operator performs construction and maintenance of roadways, creeks, bridges, channels, associated landscape areas, storm drains, and sewers using bulldozers, large loaders, rollers, and mowers. Road Equipment Operators also operate medium and light duty equipment and heavy-duty trucks used to transport equipment and materials. Additionally, Road Equipment Operators make minor adjustments and emergency repairs to equipment and perform road maintenance work involving manual labor as needed.

 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Operate heavy road maintenance and construction equipment, including graders, bulldozers, large loaders, backhoes, hydraulic excavators, rollers and mowers.

• Prepare records and reports.
• Perform general road maintenance worker duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification: 

• Possession and maintenance of a valid California-issued Class A Commercial Driver License with tank vehicle endorsement.

Education and Experience: 
 Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

Road Equipment Operator I: Two years of experience in road maintenance and construction work.  Satisfactory completion of the Department-sponsored training program in the operation of rollers, loaders, bulldozers, etc. or one year of experience in the operation of rollers, loaders, bulldozers, etc.

Knowledge of:  

• Provisions of the California Vehicle Code applying to the operation of vehicles.
• Safety practices in the operation of heavy construction equipment.
• Road maintenance and construction operations, materials and procedures.
• Operation of and preventive maintenance for trucks and road maintenance equipment.

Skill/Ability to: 

• Operate a wide variety of complex road construction and maintenance equipment and light and medium duty trucks including graders, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, rollers and mowers.
• Make minor adjustments and emergency repairs to equipment.
• Perform road maintenance duties which require strength, agility and endurance.
• Instruct and train personnel in road maintenance tasks.
• Work courteously and effectively with the public and with co-workers.
• Follow oral and/or written instructions.
• Climb, bend, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Lift and carry equipment (50 lbs. min.) and supplies (50 lbs. min.) used in construction and maintenance work.
• Meet U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing requirements and standards for holder of a commercial driver’s license.

Candidates who pass the application screening will be invited to a Performance Exam (weight: 100%). Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations or further evaluation of work experience may be conducted to group applicants by level of qualification All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. All examinations will be given in San Mateo County, California and applicants must participate at their own expense.

The Town of Ross is seeking a full-time Public Works Director/Town Engineer. Reporting directly to the Town Manager, this position oversees and directs the operations of the Public Works Department—developing, maintaining, and improving the Town's public infrastructure in compliance with adopted codes and regulations—and manages all of the Town's current and long-range public works projects.

The Placer County Human Resources Department is accepting applications to fill one Senior Human Resources Analyst vacancy in Auburn, CA. This position will be responsible for conducting workplace investigations involving allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, and potential policy violations. Other responsibilities will include serving as a subject matter expert in employee and labor relations, providing guidance to management on complex personnel matters, and ensuring compliance with employment laws, organizational policies, and collective bargaining agreements. This position will play a key role in labor relations activities involving the County’s five recognized bargaining units, such as participating in collective bargaining negotiations, researching labor market trends and compensation data, preparing bargaining proposals and costing analyses, interpreting labor agreements, responding to grievances, and assisting management in the administration of collective bargaining agreements.

Minimum qualifications include 2 years of responsible professional human resources administration experience performing duties similar to a full journey level Human Resources Analyst II with Placer County and the equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business or public administration, human resources administration, behavioral science or a related field. Note: Relevant, equivalent experience (performing the same or similar job requiring similar knowledge, skills, and abilities) may be substituted for the required education as determined by the Human Resources Department. Salary Range:  Five (5) Steps: $30.55 - $37.14/hour; $5,295 - $6,438/month (effective 6/27/26)

Location: Old Meadows Community Center - Therapeutic Recreation Unit (Inclusion) - one full-time position

Summary: 
Under direct supervision, leads the planning and coordination of specialized recreational programs for the community and provides staff assistance in a specialized program area; and performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides work guidance and participates in the work of Recreation Specialists, contract, temporary and administrative support staff; participates in prioritizing workload and monitoring work of other employees for completeness, accuracy and conformance with departmental standards; provides information, instruction and training on work processes; provides input on employee work performance.
• Leads the planning, promoting and implementation of specialized recreation programs for an assigned community area or group, including registration and special events; verifies staff and/or instructor availability; resolves conflicts related to activities and events. Assists in conducting training programs for staff and recruiting volunteers and contract personnel
• Determines needs for and assignment of personnel and/or contractors; oversees the day-to-day work performance and coordinates work with contractors and internal departments.
• Participates in collecting fees for services; provides patron assistance with payments; properly stores or transfers cash monies; processes refund requests; initiates purchase orders; tracks revenue and expenditures; contributes to budget monitoring and development
• Serves as liaison with community groups to assess needs and proposes program ideas; engages patrons to solicit feedback on existing programs and identifies gaps in service; implements changes and adjustments to programs to enhance participants’ experience.
• Generates, reviews and maintains a variety of records and reports related to all aspects of programming, training, participation, staff scheduling and other records as required.
• Promotes participation in scheduled activities and explains specialized programs to patrons; interfaces with prospective and current participants through emails, telephone and social media contacts; collaborates with marketing team to create fliers, assists in collecting information for print material, submits material for approval, and posts print advertisements.
• Performs regular safety inspections of assigned units; initiates maintenance work orders; maintains appropriate emergency supplies and first aid inventory for facility
• May be assigned to camp programs.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• May be required to drive a District or personal vehicle.
• May attend and participate in councils or associations related to specialty.
• Participates during disasters or when emergency response is needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
 To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skill and/or ability listed below is qualifying.

Education/Experience: A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: graduation from high school or GED, and two years of relevant experience, specialized training and at least 30 units completed in recreation or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An associate's degree is preferred.

When assigned to Inclusion: an associate degree from a two-year college with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, or a closely related field, along with two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Ability to communicate effectively in English in both written and oral form. Ability to write routine correspondence using correct spelling and grammar.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to use common sense and exercise good judgement in solving problems. Ability to establish effective relationships with fellow employees, volunteers and participants and parents/guardians.

Certificates and Licenses:

• First Aid & CPR/AED within 90 days of employment with ability to maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of employment.
• A valid California driver’s license with a good driving record and current auto- mobile insurance. For Therapeutics unit: ability to obtain a commercial driver license within one year of employment (for a 15-passenger van).
• Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
• Proof of a negative TB skin test.
• Aquatics Unit: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training; American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor; American Red Cross First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22); American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor; Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator.
• Conejo Senior Volunteer Program (CSVP): ability to obtain ServSafe Food Manager Certification within 90 days of employment.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position provides lead-level work guidance to Recreation Specialists and/or part-time staff, contractors and volunteers. Contributes to and participates in performance evaluations. May act as Recreation Coordinator in their absence.
