Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in recreation, leisure, arts administration, public administration, business administration, hospitality management, or related field; AND

Four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the field of recreation, arts, and/or community services, including prior experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.

Under direct supervision of the Pool Supervisor, the Lifeguard has the responsibility to enforce the safety standards, rules, and regulations of the City’s Pool program; to rescue swimmers in distress and administer First Aid and CPR when it is needed; This position includes ensuring the safety of all pool patrons, be alert of all activities in and around the pool while on duty and to assist with general maintenance and cleanup activities and performs related work as required.  Work is performed in a swimming facility environment, with frequent contact with City staff and the public.  Multiple Lifeguard positions are available.

The Deputy Director of Public Works / City Engineer, plans, directs and manages assigned functional areas within the engineering or utility division in connection with engineering design, construction, inspection, transportation projects and the capital improvement program; staffs one or more citizen advisory committees; performs advanced professional engineering assignments on a wide range of municipal projects of a complex nature; serves as project manager on a variety of projects; supervises engineering and technical staff of the department directly or through subordinate levels of supervision on a day to day basis; functions as department head in their absence as assigned. Class Characteristics
Deputy Director of Public Works – City Engineer is a Deputy Director level engineering classification responsible for overseeing the City’s engineering functions and performing a wide variety of engineering duties requiring independent judgement and initiative in prioritizing, scheduling, assigning and coordinating work. This class requires registration as a professional engineer. This class is distinguished from all other engineering classes by its supervisory and administrative responsibilities over a wide range of duties as well as the requirement to perform the more complex engineering and project management assignments. Assignments and projects may be long-term or may constitute a major portion of a continuous or comprehensive engineering or construction program. Typically assigned functional areas include private development review and plan checking, oversight of regulatory compliance (e.g., Municipal Regional Permit [NPDES], Cal-OSHA, SWRCB/RWQCB non-utility related orders), waste franchise, Sierra Point Lighting & Landscape District, and Capital Improvement Program.

Supervision Received and Exercised:

Receives general direction from the Public Works Department Head.

Provides general supervision to engineering, maintenance, and administrative support staff.

• Recommends and assists in development and implementation of departmental policies, goals, and objectives.

The City of Stockton Human Resources Department is seeking a Program Manager III who will be responsible for managing the department’s budget, contracts, compiling and analyzing data, as well as preparing reports in support of division operations, departmental initiatives, and labor negotiations. THE DEPARTMENT

THE POSITION

Under direction of the Recreation and Community Services Supervisor, performs responsible administrative, coordinating, and technical duties in one of the Parks and Recreation programs; and does related work as required. This classification is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the program and for the coordinating, supervisory, and administrative duties for the assigned program area.

The current recruitment is for the following program area:  Youth Enrichment Services (YES) Program.  This is a grant-funded position and is subject to grant funding.

THE JOB

Responsible for the safety, supervision, discipline, and customer service of all persons using the City of Live Oak Pool facilities.  Generally, works under direct supervision of the Lifeguard Supervisor or Parks and Recreation Director.  Must be willing to work other than normal work hours and be available to work as scheduled based upon the need of the department.  Must be able to attend Pre-season training, and successfully pass a lifeguard skills review.  Must be 15 years of age or older, and wear Department of Recreation staff swimwear.  Employee may be asked to provide assistance and/or accommodations to include participants with disabilities.

The Senior Civil Engineer (CE) plans, manages, and coordinates the engineering program. Using broad parameters of departmental policy guidelines, this position exercises substantial initiative, judgment, and expertise to meet program and project outcomes. The Senior Civil Engineer creates the scope on large civil engineering projects with complex budgets and timelines, integrating numerous elements that significant stakeholder involvement and sensitivity. This position provides direction and mentorship to more junior staff and oversees both technical and administrative work performed by their staff and ensures that projects are completed efficiently and effectively for the public good. Informing the public and Board of Supervisors, selecting consultants, preparing contract documents, reviewing project plans and specifications prepared by consultants, and administering contracts during construction are performed by the Senior Civil Engineer.

What You’ll Do

The Senior Engineer supervises and participates in the conduct of complicated engineering planning, design, and investigation activities.

Some duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Supervise and participate in the development of designs, plans, specifications, and estimates for the construction of public works projects related to the WWTP.
• Coordinate with contractors, construction managers, construction inspectors, and the design engineers to resolve issues during construction.
• Coordinate with the staff at the WWTP especially the Plant Manager, Operations Superintendent, and Maintenance Superintendent to make sure the WWTP operations and maintenance needs are incorporated into the projects as well as the impacts to ongoing operations during construction are considered and addressed.
• Inspect project sites to assist in solution of difficult problems; interpret specifications and City policy and make change orders.
• Review plans for construction prepared by private engineers.
• Check computations and specified materials for accuracy and compliance with regulations.
• Upgrade City standard plans and specifications; review subdivision and parcel maps.
• Serve as staff to a variety of City commissions, boards, and committees on public works engineering matters.
• Prepare periodic project status reports.
