Under general supervision of the Parks Supervisor, performs a variety of duties in maintaining and repairing parks facilities, city buildings, city grounds, swimming pool. 

• This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position. 
• Flexible schedule; not-to-exceed 1,000 hours per calendar year. 

Temporary Parks Maintenance Worker - Employee will be assigned 28 - 40 hours a week until the 1,000 hours are completed or season has concluded. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES 

Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:  

• Mowing, weed-eating, edges, trimming. 
• Cleaning facilities, playgrounds, swimming pool, restrooms and buildings. 
• Up keeping fields, courts and other facilities.

$96,681.00 - $105,865.50 Annually (Engineer I)
$101,653.50 - $122,440.50 Annually (Engineer II)

Description:
There are currently three (3) full-time vacancies between the Engineering and Construction Divisions that will be filled at the Engineer I or Engineer II level. Candidates will be considered for the level(s) for which they meet minimum qualifications.

The Engineer I – II series provides technical support of the assessment of infrastructure, engineering planning, development and construction of capital improvement projects, traffic engineering and operations, and review of private development projects for conformance with County standards and requirements. The City of Marysville is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a Human Resources Manager, Assistant to the City Manager and City Clerk; this recruitment will fill 1 vacancy and create an eligible list.  

This recruitment will encompass three (3) different positions with the City of Marysville (Human Resources Manager (HR), Assistant to the City Manager (ACM) and City Clerk (CC); due to this caveat this classification specification will list duties and responsibilities for the three (3) positions.
The Human Resource Manager will conduct, lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. ACM - To perform a variety of administrative and managerial responsibilities in the conduct and management of the activities of preparing City Council agendas, minutes, and Council packets, as well as responding to Public Records request and maintaining all official City records. CC- The City Clerk shall perform those duties set out in the City of Marysville Charter and ordinances, as well as is prescribed by State and other law. The City Clerk shall also perform other duties incident to these laws, including staff support to the City Council approximately two times per month, as well as the Oversight Board and Levee Commission on an as need basis.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

HR - Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department. Oversees the daily workflow of the department. Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy. ACM - Reports to and receives general direction from the City Manager. May exercise direct supervision over clerical staff.

• Serve as custodian of the city seal and city archivist for official records.

• Process all municipal elections to County Elections Office and maintain election files for all municipal/special elections; receive initiatives and process accordingly.

Under general supervision of the Senior Automotive Equipment Specialist, typical duties of the Communications Installer include installing 2-way radios into a variety of vehicles, including but not limited to Police vehicles and motorcycles, Fire department apparatus and other city department vehicles.

Installations are to be industry accepted best practices including the selection of proper wire sizing based on electrical loading, equipment placement with emphasis on serviceability, proper wire routing, proper power distribution, antenna placement, and grounding/power return.

The Communications Installer will also be responsible for the installation of intercom systems, emergency/warning lighting, vehicle electronics, computer equipment and terminals, antennas, and custom installations of non-standard equipment. This equipment is commonly used in emergency vehicles and municipal equipment.

This position requires the following knowledge and abilities in order to be successful in the position:
 

• Knowledge and ability to install and diagnose the systems and equipment similar to the City's Fleet including sirens, light bars, accessory lighting, FLIR devices, Tracking systems, timers, and the knowledge to interface with those systems when necessary.
• Ability to follow verbal/written direction, read/ interpret schematics, schematic symbols, and wire diagrams.
• Ability to accurately document all non-standard installations, complete necessary paperwork, installation forms, and data entry in a timely basis.
• Ability to work effectively and communicate with the vendors on interconnection and installation. May be required to diagnose issues when necessary.
• Ability to work in a team environment on large projects working within established labor standards to meet project completion goals.
• Data entry in a fleet database

The Communications Division implements environmental-specific media, outreach, and marketing activities to support the health of our community and environment. San Jose Animal Care Services, a division in the Public Works Department is currently seeking to fill four (4) full-time Animal Care Attendant vacancies. Both day and night shifts are available.

Animal Care Attendants report to the Shelter Manager of Animal Care and Services and are primarily responsible for feeding, caring for, and moving shelter animals; euthanizing animals; and cleaning and disinfecting kennels and cages. Other duties may include receiving animals brought to the shelter by Animal Control Officers or the public; assisting the public in claiming impounded animals or in adoptions; completing and maintaining animal records; responding to questions regarding age, breed characteristics and treatment of animals; and explaining and interpreting animal control laws, ordinances, regulations, procedures, and policies to the public.

Employees may work outside and be exposed to inclement weather, may be exposed to blood borne pathogens while using hypodermic needles on animals, may be exposed to animal scratches and bites, and may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, fumes, odors, gases, chemicals, pollens, and other airborne irritants.

This position will undergo training (4-6 weeks) during normal business hours and will be scheduled to work 5 days a week in either a daytime shift OR overnight shift ( e.g . 9:00 pm to 5:30 a m) after training has been completed. This position will be require d to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and respond to emergency animal services assignments.

THE POSITION

Under supervision of the Public Works Manager, the Maintenance Worker I performs entry level unskilled, semi-skilled, or skilled labor in construction, maintenance, and related service activities applied to the areas of general landscaping, grounds maintenance and street maintenance.

 TYPICAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Grounds Maintenance:  Operate mowers and other equipment and tools for purposes of cutting grass, trimming trees and shrubs, and planting and transplanting flowers, bulbs, shrubs, and trees.
• Storm Prevention Maintenance:  Assist in cleaning ditches, culverts, and storm drains.
• Street Maintenance: Assist in repainting of pavement markings, basic pothole, and street repair; installation and repair of street signs and markers; mixing and application of Class III pesticide materials.
• Vehicle/Equipment Maintenance:  Assist in the care, maintenance and cleaning of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• General:  Contact residents concerning maintenance and service problems; refer complaints and requests to proper supervisory personnel. Assist supervisory personnel in preparing and maintaining proper records and logs. Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS

The general knowledge of basic construction methods, materials and terminology, standard hand tools, light equipment, and light vehicles; general knowledge of basic safety precautions and practices necessary in working with hand tools, light equipment, and vehicles; general knowledge of basic methods and practices involved in the care of shrubs, trees and flowers. Ability to learn technically complex construction and maintenance procedures in water systems, streets, parks and building maintenance; use hand and power tools; perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time under inclement weather conditions; work alone or with small groups.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid California driver's license and ability to maintain a satisfactory driving history.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Completion of high school or its equivalent, or completion of a trade or vocational school.  Some directly related experience is desirable.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Monthly Salary: $4,855 to $6,269 per month. Placement within the range will be based upon the selected candidate’s experience and salary history.
• Health/Medical Benefit: Health/Medical Benefit: Choice of coverage with Kaiser or Blue Shield. The City pays 80% of monthly premiums at each coverage level. DEFINITION

• OPERATOR I (COLLECTION)
  Under general supervision or direction, the Operator I (Collection) is responsible for the overall operation of the wastewater collections system, which includes the repair and maintenance of the sewer collection system and pump stations.
   
• OPERATOR II (COLLECTION)
  Under general direction, supervises the operation of the Collections System of the Wastewater Treatment Plant on a designated shift to ensure processing and discharge of wastewater which complies with performance standards of State regulatory agencies; perform any combination of tasks involved with inspection, construction, repair, and preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance of sanitary personnel; prepares logs and other records; performs maintenance tasks as required and other related duties as required.
   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION REQUIREMENTS

For the Collections System, ability to locate, detect cause, and correct sewer stoppages; detect and perform minor repairs and adjustments to sewer equipment; maintain pumps and related mechanical equipment; and report to work at any time during an emergency.  Perform electrical and mechanical repairs, maintenance work and modification to equipment used in a water quality control plant; use various mechanic’s tools with skill and accuracy; available for standby on sewer calls on a rotation basis; follow oral and written directions; maintain working relationships with other employees.  (See Physical Demands section as it relates to Essential Function Requirements.)

  • Performs operation and maintenance on sanitary sewer pump station.
  • Responds to service requests regarding clogged mainline stoppages, mainline breaks, manholes and related structures.
  • Performs mechanical work in repairing and installing equipment.
  • Operates compressor, air gun tamper, backhoe and other related construction tools.
  • May undertake minor carpentry, plumbing, cement work and electrical.
  • Performs general grounds maintenance work, sweeping, sanding, painting.
  • Maintains routine and daily records.
     
• OPERATOR II (COLLECTION)
  Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Lead a crew in the safe performance of preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance of sanitary sewers
  • Respond to service requests, unclog mainline stoppages, and keep records on sewer line cleanings and state of existing problems within the Collections System
  • Repair mainline breaks, replace broken pipe and reconnect pipe sections
  • Operate power rodder, jet truck, backhoe and TV equipment
  • Conduct periodic inspections and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to wastewater pumping stations and equipment
  • Keep daily logs and records on equipment; makes reports to the supervisor
  • Provide technical assistance and prescribe work methods and safety procedures to maintenance workers and utility workers
  • Inspect installation of new sewer lines, laterals and related structures; may study blueprints and specifications preparatory to inspection of construction project
  • Supervises the work of all operating personnel assigned to shift; trains and evaluates performance of shift employees, enforces safety procedures in conformance with policy of plant’s safety program.

The City of Simi Valley has a hiring opportunity for an Inventory Support Specialist.  This position is a key team member in the Sanitation Services Division of Public Works.  An Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing inventory levels, conducting audits, and maintaining accurate records. They ensure that inventory is accounted for and properly stored, and will be involved in forecasting supply needs and coordinating with suppliers.  Some of the duties will be to maintain up-to-date records of Division assets and warehouse inventories; orders, receives stocks and issues parts and materials using an Enterprise Asset Management Software and interfaces with the Enterprise Resource Program (MUNIS) through the processing of new and completed inventory requests.  Assists in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of Division resources; and performs other administrative related duties for managing and optimizing inventory levels and conducting audits.

Minimum Qualifications for consideration: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible warehouse, inventory, clerical, or accounting experience.

License or Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class C driver’s license.
