The City of Newark's Recreation and Community Services Department is excited to announce an excellent opportunity for motivated and skilled professionals to join our team as a Recreation Coordinator. This key role involves coordinating and implementing a variety of recreation and human services programs and events, including sports, fitness, aquatics, and adult and youth development activities. The Recreation Coordinator will also supervise temporary and volunteer staff, and perform a variety of clerical support services.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Any combination of experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education:
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Additional education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of one year.
Experience:
- Three (3) years experience in recreation, community services, or related field.
License:
- Possession of a valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record throughout employment.
- Possession of valid certificates in Lifeguarding, CPR for Professional Rescuer, AED and Emergency Oxygen are highly desirable.
Special Requirements:
- Position will require working occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
