Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit is a new passenger rail system that operates between Marin and Sonoma Counties in the Northern San Francisco Bay Area. A 43-mile, 10 station system was opened in August 2017. SMART is currently constructing a 2.1-mile extension from downtown San Rafael to Larkspur. The Junior Engineer would work on this project and be exposed to many aspects of implementing a large infrastructure project that is in the construction phase.
SMART is a new commuter rail service serving Marin and Sonoma counties in Northern San Francisco Bay Area. Under direction of the Track Maintenance Supervisor, the Track Maintainer position is responsible for railroad track inspections, maintenance and repair. This position will be responsible for the inspection, testing and diagnostic analysis of SMART’s track. This position will operate equipment, including on-track equipment and vehicles necessary for track maintenance, repair and other rail support activities.
