This is a full-time, on-site position, designed for direct collaboration with the team and active participation in daily operations.

This position works varied hours/shifts/days of the week to meet the code enforcement needs of the agency. The regular work schedule may include varied days of the week, including weekends, and work hours (days/swings to 2 a.m.) and overtime availability is required often in the evenings (to include late night hours such as 2 a.m.) or on the weekends for targeted enforcement.

Additionally, the Code Enforcement Officer will issue notices, citations, and follow up on compliance efforts in a fair and consistent manner. It is also imperative that the Code Enforcement Officer maintain accurate case files and documentation for possible legal proceedings.

• Learn and understand the City of Gilroy code enforcement processes and help solve problems to foster community pride.

COMMUNITY RESILIENCE COORDINATOR

The salary range listed above reflects the full compensation potential for this position. However, initial salary placement will typically be at the lower end of the range and will not exceed 97% of the range maximum. Placement within the range will be based on the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications. Progression through the range may occur over time, subject to continued service, good performance evaluations, and the City’s administrative policies.

This is a grant funded position that is funded through February 4, 2029. 

Opportunity to work a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off.

This position is full-time on-site position that actively supports department operations.  

Future MOU salary increases: 2.5% on 7/1/27.

Additional responsibilities include developing solutions to reduce disaster risks, securing and managing mitigation grant funding, delivering community resilience education and training, and effectively engaging, partnering, and collaborating with a variety of officials, local, state, and federal agencies, businesses, community services, both public and private, concerning the related work and goals of the City. Moreover, the CRC will undertake related special projects with citywide significance, and perform other related duties as required. This position is considered essential personnel during City emergencies and is expected to be available to staff and support the Emergency Operations Center.

This is an exempt, mid-management level position that must exercise competent discretion and judgement in the performance of duties and interactions with others.

About the Data Operations & Project Support Team
The Housing Department’s former Data Support Division has transitioned into the Data Operations and Project Support Team, reflecting an expanded scope and growing role within the City. The team provides technical, analytical, and project management support across a wide range of housing and homelessness initiatives. This includes data integration with County partners, coordination for CalAIM, and administration of Salesforce systems such as Encampment Response Coordination System, the Rent Registry, and the Rent Stabilization Program. The team also develops and maintains the data feeds that inform the City Manager’s Office Focus Area Scorecards, which track progress on reducing unsheltered homelessness.

Future Direction of the Team
The Data Operations & Project Support Team is actively building capacity to meet the City’s increasing demand for high-quality data and systems support. Looking forward, the team will expand its role in integrating systems, strengthening data quality, and developing analytics and forecasting tools that inform both policy and operational decision-making. The team is also exploring opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance efficiency and expand analytical capabilities.

Position Duties

The Housing Department is currently seeking to fill one (1) full-time Information Systems Analyst vacancy in the Data Operations and Project Support Team.

Salary range for this classification is $141,894.48 - $172,885.44. This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

Currently this position is primarily on-site with limited telework. In accordance with City policy, employees are required to work on-site a minimum of four (4) days per week (at least 32 hours) at the assigned work location in San José. Up to one (1) day per week may be worked remotely, subject to operational needs and supervisor approval. Remote work from outside of the United States is not permitted.

The Information Systems Analyst (ISA) will support the Department’s technology ecosystem that powers affordable housing production, asset management, compliance, homelessness response, and public-facing services. The ISA will perform systems and business analysis, administer critical applications, develop integrations and reports, and provide responsive customer support to staff while following City standards for security and data management. Representative duties include:

• Application Development & Customization: Gather and document business requirements; translate program needs into functional and technical specifications. Design and develop highly usable, accessible solutions by customizing platforms and leveraging modern programming languages. Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, implementation, upgrades, and ongoing improvements. Build custom applications, features, and integrations within the Salesforce platform to meet evolving business needs. 

• System Administration & Operations: Configure, administer, and support departmental applications (e.g., case management, grants/loans, document management, reporting tools). Provide ongoing support and maintenance for the Salesforce CRM and other core systems, including troubleshooting, resolving issues, and ensuring optimal performance. Stay current with platform updates, best practices, and industry trends to proactively identify opportunities for improvement. 

• Data & Integrations: Design and maintain integrations and data pipelines; develop SQL queries, datasets, and dashboards; perform data quality checks and controls. Plan and execute system changes and enhancements, coordinating testing, migration, and release documentation.

• Quality Assurance & Documentation: Execute structured testing and validation processes; ensure compliance with City standards for security and data management. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and user guides to support consistency and knowledge transfer.

• End-User Support & Training: Provide responsive user support, including ticket triage, troubleshooting, and service-level communication. Prepare job aids and training materials; conduct training sessions to build staff proficiency in using applications and data tools.

• Security & Compliance: Maintain role-based access controls, audit trails, backup/recovery processes, and incident response procedures to safeguard systems and data.

• Evaluation & Procurement: Evaluate software and hardware options; prepare recommendations considering cost, security, and fit; assist with procurement processes and vendor deliverables.

• Other Duties as Assigned: Perform related work as required.

Key Focus Areas for Housing

• Case management and program systems (loans/grants, compliance, inspections, outreach).
• Data integrations and reporting for Council, funders, and internal dashboards.
• Secure constituent data collection (e-forms, approvals, digital signatures, auditability).
• Vendor coordination for SaaS implementations and support.

Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications for the ISA position are listed below:

• Experience administering or integrating enterprise/business applications (customer relationship management, grants/loans, permitting, document management, data warehouse/BI).
• Proficiency with Structured Query Language (SQL), APIs, ETL, integration tools, and report/dashboard development.
• Familiarity with security best practices (authentication, role-based access control, encryption, logging).
• Experience writing technical documentation, user guides, and training materials.
• Ability to coordinate small workgroups, vendors, and stakeholders to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of Agile/iterative project practices helpful.
• Experience in administration, configuration, development, implementation, and support of the Salesforce (SFDC) platform.
• Experience with Salesforce low-code/no-code solutions such as Flows.
• Experience developing Salesforce custom coded solutions using APEX, Lightning Web Components, and JavaScript.
• Experience with data integration tools such as MuleSoft.
• Experience with GIS integration using Esri’s JavaScript and REST APIs.
• Salesforce Certified Administrator and Platform Developer.

This is a hands-on technical role, where the ideal candidate must demonstrate substantial experience in four core areas:

1. Salesforce administration and development;
2. Integrating disparate applications and systems using Application Programming Interfaces (API) or Extract, Transform, Load (ETL);
3. Retrieving, transforming, and presenting data in dashboards and reports; and, 
4. Working directly with customers to understand business requirements, translate into technical specifications, select and implement appropriate solutions, engineer workflows, and provide user training and support, while demonstrating a focus on customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology (IT), Information Science/Informatics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Management, Data Science/Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics/Applied Mathematics, or a relevant field.

Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional/journey level experience, of which at least two (2) years of experience include lead technical work in development, implementation and maintenance of computer systems, or application development and/or support.

Acceptable Substitution:

• Additional years of increasingly responsible directly related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Completion of a Master's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of the required two (2) years of experience which include lead technical work in development, implementation and maintenance of computer systems, or application development and/or support.

The goal of the Fire Inspector Trainee position is to increase the number and diversity of qualified prospects for the position of Fire Inspector. 

Training and opportunity to obtain Fire Inspector 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D Certificates, Hazardous Materials First Responder Awareness Training, complete the SFM Task Book for Fire Inspector 1 and obtain an Inspector I Certificate from ICC in conjunction with on-the-job training.

Under general supervision, provides a variety of routine to complex clerical support services within assigned police areas, including but not limited to: typing, word processing, transcribing detailed and confidential material, record keeping and filing, and assisting with the administration of the Police Department’s budget. CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:

The Police Office Assistant is a journey-level position, fully competent to independently perform a variety of office support duties. The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Administrative and Fiscal Services Manager! In this role, you will serve as a budgetary and financial expert while supervising the overall administrative, business service, and fiscal activities of a City department. Other responsibilities may include program planning and evaluation, personnel management, and contracts/grants management.

This is a city-wide classification that is assigned to the largest City departments. The current available position is in the Planning & Development Department. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this classification is:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with major work in accounting, finance, economics, business or public administration or a closely related field; and five (5) years of professional-level experience preparing and analyzing major operational and/or capital improvement budgets, and exercising fiscal controls. Two (2) of the five (5) years must have included supervisory responsibilities.

A Master's degree in one of the above-mentioned curricula may be substituted for one (1) year of non-supervisory experience and is highly desirable. Grants accounting experience is also desirable.

Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

The Department of Public Works is responsible for delivering capital improvement projects for a wide variety of City facilities and infrastructure, maintaining City facilities and fleet assets, facilitating, and regulating development activities, and providing animal care and services. Position and Duties

(Dependent upon the position/discipline for which they may be selected.) 

• Performs complex materials field sampling and laboratory testing conforming to stringent test procedures established by ASTM, CALTRANS, or AASHTO.  
• Materials tested include Portland Cement Concrete, Hot Mix Asphalt, aggregate, soil, and other construction materials.  
• Prepares detailed materials test reports and engineering reports for construction projects.  
• Performs lab facility testing for equipment maintenance, replacement, calibrations, and upgrading.  
• Understands plans and specifications to ensure proper testing requirements and standards. 
• Assists in Geotechnical Operations.  
• Develops and implements traffic control plans for field/geo operations.  
• Research record drawing information, parcel maps, and record of surveys.  
• Prepares topographic maps showing the existing conditions of a project site which will be referenced by the designers as they prepare the improvement plans.  
• Protects the location of existing monuments which are used to determine the alignment of streets, property lines, etc.  
• Prepares layout of the proposed improvements during the construction phase such that a contractor can build them in the correct location.  
• Performs field investigations.  
• Reviews sewer video inspection data.  
• Interprets survey data, utility, and engineering plans. Prepares construction plans (using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD) and specifications.  
• Assists in the construction management tasks.  
• Reviews material specifications and submittal and analyze test results.  
• Performs basic engineering calculations.  
• Performs quantity take-off and prepare cost estimates.  
• Review and issue permits for construction activities within the public right-of-way, which includes driveway/sidewalk, sewer lateral connections, utility trench and other public encroachment applications. 
• Respond to general Public Works customer inquiries through telephone, email messages, and in-person or virtual counter visits. 
• Coordinate with Department of Planning, Building and Code Enforcement in the review of building permit applications and plan check appointments. 
• Review building permit applications for Public Works clearances, such as onsite grading/drainage work, flood hazard, geological hazard, and public street improvement requirements.

Position and Duties

Technician position for the Radio Communications Shop. The Radio Communications shop maintains the communication system for the City of San José that is used by multiple departments, such as: Police, Fire, Department of Transportation, Parks Recreation Neighborhood Services (Park Rangers), and Public Works (Animal Care & Services). The City of San José public safety and city services depend upon the use of commercial radio communications equipment. For police officers and firefighters, radio communications are the primary means of communicating with the 9-1-1 dispatch center in performing their duties. These vast stand-alone radio systems with fault-tolerant designs are essential to providing the public with reliable emergency response services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with demand for system survivability through any catastrophic event.

The key responsibilities of the Communications Technician may include:

• Install, maintain, and repair mobile and portable radios, base and control stations, microwave systems, dispatch consoles, voting receivers and comparators, digital Microwave system and P25 LMR systems.
• Respond to trouble reports, perform preventative maintenance and project assignments.
• Update technical documentation including wiring block assignments, as-built drawings of installed equipment at City radio sites, specialized vehicular installations, and diagrams of the City’s various communications systems.
• Provide recommendations for process improvement changes with the input of technical staff.
• Construct and/or modify communications equipment and perform research on new equipment.

The City of Newark is looking for General Laborer to be an integral member of the Maintenance Division within the Public Works Department. Under supervision the incumbent will perform tasks to include general cleaning and maintenance of city parks to include planting of trees, shrubs, pruning, fertilizing and watering, mowing and edging turf areas, as well as trash removal from parks, roadways, and medians. This active laborer will remove graffiti, install signage, and assist in the cleaning of storm drains.

Experience and Training 
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Education:

• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

• No experience is required; some landscaping, general maintenance, or construction experience is preferred.

License:

• Possession of a valid California Class C driver license is required.

THE POSITION

The City is currently seeking General Maintenance Workers. This temporary position works with the City’s maintenance staff to perform: unskilled labor in the parks and landscape medians, street and sidewalk maintenance, street sign maintenance, and fleet building maintenance. Duties include, but are not limited to: raking, emptying trash cans and litter removal, irrigation repair, weeding, edging, street sign maintenance and graffiti removal. Work is closely supervised; work methods are explained in specific terms and work is subject to frequent review. 

Incumbents must possess the physical and mental capacity to work under the conditions described in this document and to perform the duties required by their assigned position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

• Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in landscaping, street and sidewalk maintenance, and building maintenance, as well as safety practices and precautions to be used in work.
• Skill in operating hand and power tool equipment such as rakes, pick and shovel, etc.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather and to follow oral and written instructions. Intermittently, sit while studying or listening to training; bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist when performing maintenance, repair, or installation tasks; perform simple and power grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation; and lift or carry heavy weights up to 90 lbs.; work in conditions of various outdoor exposure.
• Capable of working independently.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Driving a city truck is required for the position and the applicant must have an acceptable driving record, subject to California DMV pull records.
• Ability to work Saturday and/or Sunday shifts.  Hours are 7AM-4:30PM and may fluctuate due to operational needs.
