The Redwood City Fire Department is seeking individuals for the position of Cadet Firefighter. The Cadet Firefighter Program is designed to allow students an opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of fire department operations. Fire Department Cadets spend a minimum of 48 hours and a maximum of 96 hours per month at the firehouse, participating in calls for service, station duties, and training. Cadets will also be expected to attend department-sponsored community functions outside of their 96-hour monthly commitment. Though the goal is to immerse the cadet into all aspects of fire department life, they are not allowed to participate in situations deemed Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH).

 

This Fire Cadet position is a non-benefited volunteer position.

Foster City is looking for a fast learner with some planning or building experience to fill the position of Building Permit Technician. This is an entry-level position that can serve as the first step in establishing a career in Planning or Building services. Position Details

Under close supervision, maintain constant watch over a public swimming pool facility to enforce regulations and prevent accident, assist swimmers in distress and provide emergency and routine first aid. There is potential for slip hazards when working near water and exposure to blood borne pathogens when rendering first aid. Working hours will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Supplemental Position Information:

Part-time temporary employees serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be dismissed at any time. This position does not provide any benefits, apart from paid sick leave.
