As an Application Developer, you will provide solutions to business problems by developing software and scripts to improve data collection, analysis, and workflow development and refinement. This position supports the Information Systems and Security Manager in supporting business technology across the agency and will collaborate with agency personnel and contractors to define problems, assess solutions, and provide end user support and training. This position assists with identifying needs, proposing solutions, and estimating budgets for projects. Additionally, this position will be the party responsible for any technology or information systems required for its work and may perform other duties as assigned. Work is performed within a broad framework of general policy and requires creativity and resourcefulness to accomplish goals and objectives and in applying concepts, plans, and strategies in ways which may deviate from traditional methods and practices. All work is expected to be carried out in an ethical, accurate, secure, timely, and confidential manner. The incumbent must be experienced with software and systems related to computer operating systems, security, networking, data backup and recovery, and office productivity.
Some key initiatives you’ll work on:
- Developing and maintaining custom applications used by the agency for mission-critical decisions.
- Developing data exchanges and processing through the use of various APIs from different software products.
- Developing software and system workflow design by using modeling, diagrams, and markup.
- Review and refactor code in use.
- Provide input on current and future technology initiatives.
- Track changes in technology areas and trends and prepare the agency for adoption of new standards.
- Secure agency applications and systems through the use of proper, secure coding practices.
- Provide support for Microsoft 365, Exchange, Power Platform, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams systems.
- Provide database administration services.
- Work on GIS system development.
