PWII: $16.40 to $20.93 per hour. PWI: $15.66 to $19.98 per hour.
This is a regular, full time position with full benefits.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Under general supervision of the Public Works Manager, performs a variety of manual public works maintenance tasks; operates light and moderately heavy power-driven equipment; and performs related work as required. Duties will include but not be limited to: Safe performance of a variety of maintenance work in the construction, repair and maintenance of municipal buildings, streets, storm drains and related utilities; maintain trees and other plant material l on town property; paint and maintain curbs, traffic lines and street signs and posts; load and unload leaves and rubbish from town streets, gutters and other public areas; check brush and perform ground maintenance work; cut and patch street surfaces as required; keep records and make reports of supplies used; attend routine safety training sessions; maintain tools and equipment; safely operate a variety of automotive construction and maintenance light equipment such as trucks, tractors, mowers, jack hammers and related equipment; and perform other related duties as required.
Knowledge of: Uses and purposes of general construction and maintenance, and tools and equipment; safe work practices.
Ability to: Perform heavy manual labor in varied assignments; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work and with work crew.
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Experience for PWMW I: This is an entrylevel trainee position that requires a willingness to learn. AND License PWMW I: Valid Class C drivers license and the ability to obtain Class B drivers license within six months of hire date in conformity with established town employee driving standards.
Experience for PWMW II: One year of experience as Public Works Maintenance I with the Town of Paradise or two years of increasingly responsible experience in street or grounds maintenance or heavy construction. AND License for PWMW II: Valid Class B California drivers license in conformity with established town employee driving standards.
