DEFINITION

The City of Live Oak Internship Program is designed to attract, develop and mentor innovative individuals interested in pursuing a career in the public sector. The program seeks dedicated students who, through their academic achievement and/or employment history, have demonstrated high potential for a career in local government. Interns are encouraged to apply for full-time positions with the City after their internship is completed.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Interns generally work under close supervision and perform simple or routine tasks while learning to perform the more difficult and responsible ones. Interns are hired as limited term employees and employment service is dependent on the length of the project or the particular City service needs.

Intern positions are by their nature temporary employment and Interns are not eligible for City benefit programs unless specifically approved in writing by the City Manager.

The work schedule is typically part-time 15-20 hours per week with flexibility to work 30 to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of the Intern and the City program assigned. Interns with significant experience in their assigned area may be eligible to move along the assigned Salary Band with the specific approval of the City Manager.

Intern positions are not permanently funded and may be terminated at any time.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• May review and route routine planning documents, petitions, permits, packets and records; analyze environmental checklists and environmental information forms and make specific recommendations following department procedures;
• May assist professional and technical staff with special projects including surveying, data gathering and reporting, analyses and computerized report presentations;
• May respond to basic inquiries from the general public and resolve issues related to the City's planning and zoning procedures and specific permits; research and provide information to City staff and the general public regarding land use issues and standard environmental documentation;
• May perform a variety of activities relating to the development of financial and statistical reporting, including accumulating, analyzing and tracking of revenues and expenditures; analyzes financial trends and develops projections of costs and funding opportunities.
• May conduct surveys, research, and analysis of various departmental issues; may update procedure and policy manuals;
• May answer phones and/or assist the public or others including such tasks as taking messages, responding to questions or requests for assistance, screening and referring to sources of information, providing forms and explaining procedures for completion;
• May prepare bills, orders, notes and receipts, permits, licenses; perform basic arithmetic operations; receive fees when the amount is readily obtainable by simple computations, or from fixed schedules; post data, keep records, and prepare statistical or other types of reports in accordance with predetermined forms and procedures.

Glenn County is seeking a Human Resources (Personnel) Analyst I/II to support a wide range of HR functions, including employee relations, leave administration, benefits, recruitment, and more. This is a hands­-on, generalist role offering broad exposure to HR operations and the opportunity to make a direct impact on County employees and services. The official job class title for this position is currently the Personnel Analyst I/II. This position is scheduled for 40 hours per week. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

•    Assisting with employee benefits and health plan administration, employee inquiries, enrollment support, and new employee orientation
•    Supporting leave administration processes and maintaining confidential personnel records and documentation
•    Preparing, proofreading, and coordinating reports, agendas, contracts, correspondence, notices, and other professional documents
•    Responding to employee and department inquiries and assisting in interpreting policies, procedures, and personnel-related requirements

The Van Driver, Senior position is located at Health and Human Services Agency. This position operates a light vehicle to transport clients to and from designated locations within the county. The Senior Van Driver will prioritize and coordinate client transportation. This position is scheduled for up to twenty five (25) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Operate and drive a light motor vehicle to pick up and deliver clients and children to a designated location within the county or various sites out of Glenn County. 
• Oversee the scheduling of clients’ transportation, coordinate, and assign clients’ transportation to van drivers. 
• May include on-call for driving after hours and on weekend crisis calls, both in and out of Glenn County.
• Adhere to time and transportation schedules to ensure clients are able to meet their scheduled appointments.
• Pick up and deliver paperwork, charts, equipment, materials, and supplies at various locations as assigned.
• May use assigned vehicle to move clients’ belongings from one location to another as directed.
• Check oil, gas, tires, etc. of assigned vehicle regularly to ensure safety and good mechanical condition.

The Deputy Probation Officer I/II/III position in the Probation Department will investigate cases of juvenile delinquency or dependency and adult applicants for probation; supervise and counsel juveniles and adults on probation; prepares reports and recommendations for court. Provides professional casework services to adult and juvenile offenders involving the referral, supervision and rehabilitation of juveniles and adults on probation; and provides advocacy and related services to victims of crimes. The Deputy Probation Officer III is the advanced journey level position in the class. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Prepares and presents reports and recommendations regarding juveniles and adults for the Superior Court.
• Investigates violations of the law by juveniles and adults, and prepares a variety of reports to the court on individuals under the jurisdiction of the court.
• Analyzes and uses information gathered by interviewing the accused and others involved in a case to assess client needs; develops a supervision plan designed to achieve desired behavioral changes; prepares progress reports.
• Arrests juvenile/adult probationers, or makes arrangements through law enforcement agencies for the arrest of juvenile/adult probationers who violate the law or terms of probation; physically restrains juvenile/adult probationers when necessary.
• Makes financial arrangements for the collection and distribution of fines, restitution and other payments.

The Skywalker Fire Brigade Fire Chief (FC) position will supervise, lead, and train the Skywalker Fire Brigade (Department). This is a management position for 9 employees that staffs one private fire station and has the opportunity to build and direct a motivated staff of firefighters. The Fire Chief will oversee three duty Captains and their projects, providing guidance and leadership for the organization. The Fire Chief will oversee daily schedules with regard to standard prevention activities, training, and special events. Oversee fire prevention inspections, lead vegetation management projects including pile burning, shaded fuel breaks, and interact with the property insurance agent and facilities manager for future projects. The Chief will represent the Skywalker Fire Brigade during county-wide meetings for Operations and Training. Skywalker Fire employees provide an extraordinary level of customer service and hospitality to Skywalker Properties' clientele. While this role operates within a Brigade fire department, the position itself is mostly comprised of prevention and training. This is a great opportunity to train and develop individuals in a unique, private environment with a dedicated and passionate team to support our mission.

Schedule:

This position will work a semi-flexible 40hr work week as to oversee and manage 3 shifts who are on a 48/96 work schedule. Flexibility is determined by the President and subject to department need as well attending any critical meetings with leadership teams. Remote work hours may be included in the flexibility.

Although rare, there are times when the Chief might have to back-fill staffing and/or provide staffing on apparatus due to non-fillable vacancies or training needs.

The Marysville Police Department is recruiting for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher. 

We are seeking energetic and outstanding individuals to join our team.  Ideal candidates are committed to working with their community in total partnership as we work together to improve the quality of life for everyone who works, lives and plays in our city. Public Safety Dispatchers are tasked with dispatching first responders including police, fire and medical services.

The North Tahoe Fire Protection District is currently accepting applications for current and future job openings from qualified individuals to serve on the chipping crew. These positions are grant-funded, seasonal positions assigned to a 40-hour work week. These positions are returning to the fire district in 2025, and we’ll be hiring three people to operate the chipping crew.  This position is expected to be active from approximately May through November.  The actual start and end dates will be dependent on weather and snow conditions and may be extended beyond 6 months, but no more than 9 months from the employment start date.  The eligibility list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies.  

The Chipping Crew Members work under the direct supervision of the Division Chief of Fire and Life Safety or their designee.  

The primary purpose of this crew is to operate a residential chipping program for the local community. This includes responding to chipping requests, traveling to those addresses with a truck and chipper, chipping the material, ensuring a clean site upon leaving, potentially hauling and dumping the material at a temporary holding site, assisting with loading, and ensuring activities are adequately tracked. The applicant must be comfortable working in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions and lifting objects frequently up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.  Chipping crew members will also assist with community workdays utilizing the truck and chipper or assisting with cutting and hauling combustible materials and filling green waste dumpsters.
