The Public Works Department is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Street Maintenance Worker I/II for the Street division. Depending on the candidate's qualifications, the vacancy will be filled at either Street Maintenance Worker Level 1 or Level 2. The successful candidate will work at the City’s Municipal Service Center in the Newbury Park area of Thousand Oaks.

 

Primary responsibilities:

• Breaks and removes concrete using a hydraulic breaker and handwork
• Repair or replace cracked, raised, sunken, or otherwise damaged sidewalks, curbs, and gutters
• Perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance, repair, and cleaning of streets, curbs, gutters, storm drains, and related structures
• Perform heavy manual labor in the removal, repair, and finish of concrete and asphalt work
• Operate and maintain a variety of maintenance and construction equipment, including hand and power tools, and light, medium, and heavy motorized equipment
• Conduct traffic control when working in traffic areas of the City; install street barricades and cones; direct and control traffic around work sites

This position performs a variety of highly complex technical para-professional administrative duties in support of fiscal and accounting procedures, including budget preparation and auditing a variety of financial records under limited supervision. The County of Glenn is seeking an Assistant Director of Public Works who is a strategic, collaborative, and confident leader with effective communication skills. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead complex engineering projects that provide essential services throughout Glenn County. Reporting directly to the Public Works Director, the Assistant Public Works Director will serve as a project manager for a variety of public works and capital improvement projects, including the design and construction of roads, bridges and storm drainage infrastructure.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

The Sustainability Aide is an entry-level position that provides essential program, technical, customer service, and field support to the Sustainability Division’s solid waste, water conservation, energy, and electric vehicle (EV) charging programs.

This role is ideal for individuals interested in environmental programs who demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and an interest in data-driven problem-solving within a local government setting.

This is a part-time position, up to 29 hours per week, not to exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year. Work hours are flexible within City business hours; two to three days per week is preferred.

 

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide customer and permit counter service by responding to public, contractor, and developer inquiries related to solid waste, recycling, water conservation, energy, and EV charging programs.
• Process and review Construction and Demolition (C&D) permit applications and plans, including verification of recycling requirements, authorized haulers, and Green Halo documentation.
• Support sustainability-related development review, including solid waste space planning, trash and recycling enclosure requirements, and coordination with other City departments.
• Assist with data collection, entry, tracking, and basic analysis for waste, recycling, edible food recovery, water use, debris, energy, and EV infrastructure programs.
• Support compliance and implementation of State regulatory requirements, including SB 1383 edible food recovery and organic waste diversion programs.
• Assist with GIS-based sustainability mapping, including trash and recycling enclosure mapping for development projects and updates to sustainability-related maps in coordination with the GIS team.
• Provide program support for energy and infrastructure projects, such as streetlighting replacement projects in coordination with Southern California Edison (SCE).
• Assist with sustainability budgeting support, including tracking program expenditures, maintaining records, and supporting basic budget documentation.
• Support public outreach and education efforts, including staffing events, conducting surveys, and preparing materials and documentation.
• Maintain accurate records in City databases, prepare spreadsheets, draft basic reports and memos, and assist with routine administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

The Auditor-Controller Manager is distinguished by the level of responsibility of managing multiple components of accounting, administrative and auditing systems, fiscal staff development, and program analysis. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. This recruitment may be used to establish a list to fill future vacancies for the next six (6) months.

Plans, develops, and evaluates Auditor-Controller Division’s goals, objectives, policies and procedures; interprets laws and regulations; develops systems and standards for program evaluation; assures the Auditor-Controller Division’s activities follow all applicable laws, policies and regulations.
