ABOUT THE POSITION
Are you passionate about public service and protecting one of our community’s most vital resources – clean reliable drinking water? The City of Gilroy is seeking a skilled and motivated Water Operator to paly a key role in operating, maintaining, and improving the City’s water distribution and treatment systems. 

In this hands-on and highly impactful role, you will work under the general supervision of the Water Systems Superintendent, perform and lead journey level duties associated with the operation, construction and maintenance of the water system. The Water Operator has advanced understanding of operating the water system in a safe and sustainable manner, including the use of Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems as well as an understanding of water quality requirements. Summary Description

Under immediate supervision (Facility Maintenance Worker I) or general supervision (Facility Maintenance Worker II), performs a variety of skilled facility maintenance and repair work on City buildings.

Representative Duties

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1. Install new plumbing; maintain, repair, and replace plumbing systems and fixtures such as faucets, drinking fountains, water heaters, water closets, urinals, water regulators, and pressure valves; repair boiler and boiler piping and pumps.
2. Maintain, repair, and replace electrical systems including light switches, outlets, interior and exterior light fixtures, computer lines, electrical panels, and card readers; replace light bulbs.
3. Install and repair door lock sets; rekey locks and padlocks; cut keys.
4. Perform carpentry and trim and finish work; frame walls, doors, and windows; build or remodel offices; replace doors and windows; build or assemble cabinets, shelving, and furniture; hang, tape, and texture drywall.
5. Perform painting work; prepare and paint or stain interiors, exteriors, and furniture of various material.
6. Performs welding, masonry, flooring, and general repair work on buildings and furniture.

Facility Maintenance Worker I - This is the entry level class in the Facility Maintenance Worker series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or no directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Facility Maintenance Worker II - This is the full journey level class within the Facility Maintenance Worker series. This class is distinguished from the Facility Maintenance Worker I by the assignment of the full range of duties assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and they are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

Operations, services, and activities of a building maintenance, repair, and construction program.

Facility Maintenance Worker I

Education/Training:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

Experience:

Two years of increasingly responsible general maintenance experience in a variety of trades.

License or Certificate:

Possession of a valid California Driver License.

Possession of a valid forklift certificate within one year of employment.

Facility Maintenance Worker II

Education/Training:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in building trades is desirable.

Experience:

Two years of performing duties at a level comparable to the Facility Maintenance Worker I with the City of Ceres.

Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license.

The Energy Department is looking to fill two (2) Part-Time Marketing and Communications Graduate Student Intern (Unclassified) position.

The Marketing and Communications Intern’s primary responsibility will be to assist SJCE with day-to-day communications and improving customer experiences. Projects could include:

• Help maintain and expand SJCE’s program webpages (electric vehicles, solar and storage, electric homes, etc.)
• Assist with developing online tools to help customers navigate the electric vehicles, home electrification, and rooftop solar and increase adoption.
• Write clear and engaging content for web pages, blogs, articles, emails, social media and marketing materials.
• Research, coordinate, and attend community events to increase awareness of SJCE programs and services, particularly in diverse communities. Pitch community events for the marketing team to attend, prepare collateral and materials for events, and conduct outreach at events. The intern may be asked to develop an interactive game or activity for SJCE’s event booth.
• Organize SJCE’s marketing collateral and develop a library of materials that is visible and accessible for department staff and the public.
• Assist with noticing for SJCE programs and improve and streamline processes. This includes drafting letters and emails, developing and refining key messaging, and reviewing data to measure the effectiveness of communications.
• Become a cheerleader for SJCE and CCAs! Connect with colleagues in the field and develop an understanding of industry trends and initiatives.

Additionally, this intern will help support SJCE’s ongoing work, including attending meetings, developing marketing collateral, and collecting and analyzing data to improve customer experiences.

Pay: Graduate Student Intern: $20.52-$30.30 per hour (unclassified, unbenefited) 
This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. The actual salary will be determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Work Schedule: During the academic year, interns are recommended to work 24-40 hours per week, with schedules determined collaboratively between the hiring manager and the intern based on student availability and project needs. During summer and winter breaks, interns may work up to 40 hours per week.

This is the entry-level class within the literacy series responsible for helping raise community awareness of the library’s adult and family literacy services. The Literacy Advocate does community outreach, facilitates information meetings for new learners and volunteers and supports the involvement of adult learners in the Read Santa Clara program, connecting them to helpful library and community resources.  Read Santa Clara is the adult and family literacy program of the Santa Clara City Library. 

The position being filled is a 0.5 FTE position. Benefits for this position will be prorated to a half-time position. The annual salary range for this position is $34,966.38 - $44,692.20, this is a prorated amount. This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

Under the supervision of the Recreation and Community Services Director and the Recreation Coordinator, the Pool Manager will be responsible for the operations of the pool. The Pool Manager will be expected to schedule Lifeguards to work as well as oversee the Lifeguards. The Pool Managers are to teach Lifeguards the pool policies and to assist any Lifeguard in decisions made at the pool. The Pool Manager must also be able to resolve confrontations from citizens if not to direct them to the next person in the chain of command. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is established for 28 hours a week, but will vary depending on programming needs, and will be working weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time Recreation Leader position in the Recreation Department for their Senior Program and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include, but are not limited to: under supervision, works with staff to provide programs and activities for Seniors; organizes and teaches participants games and activities such as dance, music, arts & crafts, etc. and with assistance, coordinate, schedule, and plan the programs; ensures participant safety and well being during all activities; ensures the proper handling of first aid and emergency situations.  

 

The City of Patterson is seeking to fill several part-time Recreation Specialist position in the Recreation Department for their Summer sports program and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include, but are not limited to: implement a wide range of programs that foster community development that include youth/adult sports, special events, open gym, and youth development activities.  This position will require assistance of general office duties and may include supervision of volunteers and staff, and performs related duties as assigned.

This position is established for 19 hours a week, but will vary depending on programming needs, and will be working weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.
