Under close and general supervision, the Public Safety Dispatcher performs a variety of duties involved in receiving, evaluating, prioritizing, and relaying calls for emergency and non-emergency public safety assistance; dispatches appropriate units and coordinates response of emergency personnel; operates a variety of telecommunications equipment including radio, telephone, and computer aided dispatch systems; performs a wide variety of specialized duties involved in emergency communications; and performs related duties as assigned.

The City of Dixon is recruiting for one (1) full-time position of Utilities Maintenance Worker I/II for the Collections division. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of utilities, including the sanitary sewer system and the storm water system; to operate light and moderately heavy power-driven equipment; to perform related duties assigned. 

Utilities Maintenance Worker I: This is the entry level class in the Utilites Maintenance Worker series.

Utilites Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level class in the Utilities Worker series.

EXAM PROCESS: A limited number of candidates whose applications indicate that they, among those competing, are better qualified in terms of related education, training and experience will be invited to participate in a written exam (pass/fail) and candidates who pass the written exam will be invited for an interview. Note: The examination process may be change as deemed necessary.

The City of Dixon is recruiting Senior Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor applicants for the 2025 Aquatic Season.

The Senior Lifeguard/Swim Instructor performs a variety of duties to ensure the City of Dixon swimming pool is a safe and enjoyable aquatic facility. Supervises pool patrons, enforces pool rules, performs first aid and emergency rescues, instructs swim lessons, performs cashiering duties, leads recreational activities; performs related and other work as required.

Staff may be expected to work weekends and on fixed holidays. Those who work on a City Holiday will earn 1 ½ times their base hourly salary.

This position is subject to random controlled substance testing and/or breath alcohol testing.

Oral Interview (weighted 100%).

The City of Dixon Fire Department is recruiting to fill current Firefighter/Paramedic vacancies as soon as possible and to establish an eligibility for future needs. To be considered eligible for this hiring and eligibility list, you must meet the following criteria:

• Pass the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center (FCTC) Entry Level Firefighter Written Exam and be placed on the FCTC Statewide Eligibility List.
• Possess a current, valid Cal-JAC CPAT Card issued within the last 12 months from date of application submission and ability to pass the City of Dixon's aerial ladder agility test.
• Possess a valid Firefighter 1 Academy certificate or California State Fire Marshal Firefighter 1 Certificate.
• Possess a current, valid California or National Registry Paramedic certification (note: persons possessing a National Registry Certification will be required to register as a California Paramedic prior to appointment).
• Valid California Class “C” Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Note: A DMV driving record will also be required to be submitted with your application.

The Dixon Fire Department offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for qualified applicants pursuing a career in fire safety.  The position performs fire prevention activities to save lives and property; responds to hazardous material incidents; responds to all fire alarms with designated company; prepares and operates the necessary equipment at the scene of the fire such as a hose, ladders, chemicals, bars, hooks, etc.; administers first aid to injured patrons; performs other acts required of a Firefighter at the scene of an emergency; carries out all duties assigned by Superior Officers.  Work involves irregular hours during the day and evenings, and on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

A valid California driving record (within 6 months) this will not be uploaded to FCTC. (Attach DMV Printout obtained from an official California DMV Office - www.DMV.ca.gov).   The online Driver Record is not an official document, but the City will accept either this or an official copy. The City will also accept an out of state/country DMV record. However, you will need to obtain a California State Driver’s License within 30 days of appointment.
