The Senior Engineer, Railroad Structures reports to the Manager, Engineering Structures and Facilities, and is responsible for Caltrain corridor engineering, construction support of capital improvement projects, engineering design and maintenance support of facilities, including maintenance facilities and historical stations, project planning support, and design studies support for railroad structures including railroad stations, and railroad facilities for the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain).

Essential Functions & Duties

Examples of Essential Functions:

• · Provide engineering architectural and design support related to design review, renovations, structural improvements and repairs for Rail Operations, Capital Projects, Construction Management, and other Caltrain departments.

• · Works closely with key stakeholders internally and externally to maintain railroad facilities, structures, tracks, tunnels and bridges (civil/structural).

• · Review and perform capacity calculations on railway structures, design reviews and capital improvement projects to protect the integrity of the railroad structures, including historical preservation and to ensure technical requirements are met.

• · Oversee projects to be performed by outside agencies (3rd party projects) working on Caltrain property.

• · Participate in capital project development studies including consultant negotiations, estimating, and scheduling.

• · Identify root causes of engineering structural issues and present appropriate solutions.

Examples of Essential Duties:

• · Review engineering design project documents including plans, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, project schedules, and constructability review reports.

• · Review project design documents, interface with Caltrain Operations, monitor construction progress, and inspect construction fieldwork.

• · Assist in monitoring and directing the railroad maintenance contractor for Caltrain structures.

• · Perform on-site and routine inspection required by FRA, provide analysis and condition assessment of existing railroad structures.

• · Monitor third party vendors on capital projects to protect the Agency’s infrastructure and operational interests.

• · Provide responsible and professional staff assistance to higher level management on projects and related matters.

• · Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect one’s self, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.

Minimum Qualifications

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:

• · Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering, or another related field.

• · Four (4) years of progressively increasing responsibility in structural engineering.

General

The Deputy Director, Traction Power and OCS, reports to the Director, Engineering, and is responsible for the development and management of Engineering systems and lead projects and programs related to 25kV AC Traction Power, Overhead Contact System, Grounding and Bonding and EMC for the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain).

Essential Functions & Duties

• Serve as an agency subject matter expert for all 2X25kV AC railway Traction power and OCS related issues to provide expert recommendations and assistance to executive leadership on Traction Power, OCS, grounding and Bonding, EMC and safety standards for Caltrain railroad network.

• Responsible for establishing and implementing the engineering processes for all traction power-related systems, including developing and maintaining 2x25kV AC Electrification Standards.

• Provide management and oversight of Traction Power related activities related to Engineering.

• Lead the development of performance indicators for Caltrain and the actions needed to improve or correct performance and the capture and analysis of Traction Power and OCS data, to include Electrical Traction power concerns, accident/incident data, and trends.

• Drive innovations and improvements to increase the reliability, availability, effectiveness and efficiency of the Traction Power/OCS assets and maintenance programs. 

• Assure compliance with the Agency’s Transit Asset Management Program for traction power and OCS systems.

• Provide technical guidance for the work performed by the railroad contract operator to maintain traction power and OCS systems.

• Provide engineering leadership to the Contract Operator’s Maintenance Department to resolve and repair failed traction power equipment.

• Responsible for the development of maintenance requirements for traction power and OCS assets.

• Lead all initiatives related to process improvements and change management. Ensures Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are communicated and followed.

• Serve as a liaison and a lead contact person with utilities and regulatory agencies to ensure regulatory compliance for all Traction Power related positions.

• Liaison with internal and external stakeholders on Caltrain commuter rail operations and maintenance, planning, and safety departments for any traction power related issues.

• Provide technical input to the Planning department to develop project scopes.

• Make recommendations to contractors, project managers and lead engineers in the areas of Traction Power performance in accordance with the contract.

• Develop, implement, and maintain budgeting of the projects and programs related to traction power Engineering and monitor their financial health.

• Develop and maintain budgetary requirements for engineering projects. 

• Supervise staff. Hire, mentor, and take appropriate corrective and/or disciplinary action. Ensure EEO policies and procedures are followed. Participate in selection of staff. Coordinate staff training and professional development. Establish performance objectives. Monitor and evaluate employee performance.

Examples of Essential Duties:

• Identify Traction Power infrastructure quality concerns and propose solutions.  

• Develop cost estimates for Traction Power and OCS projects

• Lead engineering design reviews for capital projects, ensuring compliance with Caltrain standards, codes and regulations, and industry guidelines.

• Represent Caltrain with the Federal Railroad Administration, California Public Utilities Commission, and other government regulatory agencies, as well as the public and transit/funding agencies.

• Plan and develop the implementation of operating rules and policies for the Traction Power and OCS System.  

• Lead and assess all reports related to Traction Power equipment failures, underperformance, and safety violations.  

• Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.  

• Lead the audit process, certification inspections, and regulatory requirements following alterations or improvements to the Traction Power and OCS system.  

• Establish predictive Traction Power and OCS maintenance programs for critical infrastructure assets to increase availability, resiliency, reduce repairs and service interruptions, and improve maintenance efficiency.  

• Identify Traction Power infrastructure quality concerns and propose solutions.  

• Develop cost estimates for Traction Power and OCS projects. 

• Responsible for training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and communicating policy changes and updates.

• Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect one’s self, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possess a valid California drivers’ license with a safe driving record.

• Possess effective written and oral communication skills.

• Strong prior experience with Microsoft Office suite, scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera)

This position provides non-engineering review of construction and alteration plans for residential, commercial and industrial structures; critically evaluates technical data to detect deviations from legal requirements; supports building permit applicants and design professionals either in person at the counter or via phone or email by answering building code related questions; works with building technicians by answering building code questions and helps move applicants through the permit process; investigates complaints of Building Code or Municipal Code violations and can guide applicants through the permit process and requirements; performs related duties and special assignments that may include sensitive site investigations and report generation related to accessibility compliance or code enforcement, preparation of requested compliance forms, handouts and procedural manuals.

Hybrid schedule: 
The Community Development Agency has embraced a hybrid work schedule that considers that some duties of this position may be performed remotely. However, the successful candidate must be able to report to County facilities for meetings, work assignments, and/or disaster service work upon short notice, as needed and deemed appropriate. During the initial probationary period, the successful candidate may be required to work primarily onsite before establishing a hybrid work schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:
Equivalent to completion of two years of college or technical school training with major course work related to the plan checking, the construction trades or a field related to the work and two years of experience in either reviewing plans for compliance with codes and ordinances or in inspecting a variety of structures for such compliance and conformance to plans and specifications. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Certificates and Licenses:
Consistent with California State law, certification by the International Code Council (ICC) or equivalent in plans examination, accessibility, or green building must be obtained within two years. Failure to obtain certification within two years may result in release from employment. Certification must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
 
Additional Requirements: Must complete a minimum of 45 hours of qualified continuing education in every three-year period with at least 8 hours regarding disability access requirements.

Currently we have one Full-time Regular vacancy for a Spanish Speaking Psychiatric Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist in Daly City. Experienced clinicians and those looking to gain experience are encouraged to apply.

The outpatient clinician will provide specialty outpatient mental health services to adults living in the Northern regions of San Mateo County. The target population are adults 18 years of age and older presenting with a serious mental illness and severe functional impairments. Principal duties will include assessment and diagnosis, care coordination, case management, group and individual psychotherapy, crisis intervention and rehabilitation services. The Clinician will provide treatment in an outpatient clinic setting.

The ideal candidates will possess: 

• A current license as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist;
• Solid clinical treatment, assessment, diagnostic and evaluation skills;
• Knowledge of principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, crisis management and various treatment modalities;
• Experience/interest in providing treatment for adults with serious mental illness;

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department is looking for enthusiastic people to work within our After School Sports and Mobile Recreation programs operated out of Red Morton Community Center. The hours of this position could be Monday through Friday, from 3:30pm-8:30pm during the school year, but nighttime and weekend hours will be mandatory depending on special events and program needs. The Town of Los Gatos is recruiting for an IT Technician to work in a dynamic, customer service-oriented and fast-paced environment where problem solving, attention to detail, multi-tasking, and strong communication skills are a must. The IT Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and upgrades computer hardware, software, personal computer networks, peripheral equipment, and Town-wide electronic mail systems; assesses user training needs and trains users in effective use of applications; makes recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions; prepares documentation and provides user assistance to Town staff; and performs related work as required. This position will report to the IT Director. Substitution: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in information systems and support may substitute the required education and completion of high school or equivalent.  Experience substitutions are determined at the discretion of the Town of Los Gatos.
