The Department

The Position

The Multipurpose Senior Service Program (MSSP) Case Manager will perform professional and clinical social work tasks and duties for older adults living with complex medical conditions to assist them to obtain optimum health, financial, and/or social services. As a member of the Human Services Department, this position reports to a Clinical Supervisor in the Aging and Family Services Division.

This is a regular, part-time position (32 hours/week) and will receive pro-rated benefits.

• Manage a caseload of 28-32 clients comprised of older individuals with complex medical conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive client assessments and develop and monitor service plan.

• Manages and participates in the development, design, implementation, and modification of Valley Water-wide and division/unit-specific business applications and platforms, including applications development and support, database administration, systems administration, and internal and external websites; directs the review, analysis, and modification of existing systems and applications; coordinates the design, development, upgrading, implementation, and testing of new systems and applications.
• Prepares and develops project specifications; evaluates third-party software applications; ensures new and revised software applications adapt with existing computer systems. Coordinates with the Technology Innovation, Program Management, and Infrastructure unit to execute Valley Water technology goals.
• Leads and guides project teams in selecting and executing applications support projects, including developing strategies to complete work and ensuring compliance with acceptable information services standards and Valley Water procedures. Responsible for governance and prioritization of the software services application portfolio with a drive to reduce costs and to provide Valley Water employees with the best applications available on the market.

The Land Stewardship & Trails Department is Midpen’s largest, with over 70 employees during construction season. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members who may be geographically dispersed. The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of their assigned field office and has supervisory responsibility over one administrative assistant and supervisory level staff.  Each geographical area consists of up to 18 full-time staff members as well as seasonal staff. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished professional with a highly collaborative management style, strong emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills. Key responsibilities include:

• Assumes management responsibility for all maintenance and operations functions and activities of the field office, including maintenance of preserves, public access, facilities, vehicles, and resource management.

The Department of Planning and Development is currently recruiting for one Senior Planner vacancy:

This Senior Planner will play a crucial role in reviewing complex professional-level tasks related to land use and planning laws, zoning, housing, discretionary entitlements with associated report writing for consideration by the County Zoning Administrator and/or Planning Commission, and the review of building permits and environmental analysis under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The Senior Planner will also serve as the lead on assigned projects, which may include overseeing a number of programs (examples include: County General Plan & Housing Element, Surface Mining and Reclamation Act, Santa Clara Valley Ag Plan, and Habitat Plan) and works independently, assuming responsibility for more complex projects (such as Stanford master planning), and must be resourceful and responsive to specialized assignments from Executive Management or the Board of Supervisors. The Senior Planner may also be responsible for reviewing development and parcel maps/subdivision proposals, as well as building plans, and permits. The County will be embarking upon a comprehensive General Plan Update, and other various vision plans and may be expected to oversee and manage these efforts. The County also processes large and complex private development applications for large private institutional uses, new quarries, places of worship and agricultural processing campuses. A Senior Planner with areas of expertise related to long-range/comprehensive planning and/or major project development processing experience, coupled with strong CEQA experience is desired. 

In addition to meeting the employment standards for a Senior Planner, candidates must possess in-depth knowledge and working experience in two (2) or more of the following areas:

• Preparing advanced California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) documents (e.g., Initial Studies, Mitigated Negative Declarations, Environmental Impact Reports).
• Experience in complex medium- to large-scale development entitlement projects such as campus planning, industrial, commercial, housing, agricultural housing or processing developments, or similar projects requiring advanced CEQA processing, staff report writing, data management and analysis, public outreach and public hearings.
• Experience in the management of CEQA and technical consultants, including meeting coordination, reviewing work products, and contracting/billing. Experience in managing consultants to ensure the project is completed within the approved timeline and budget with the proper deliverable is required.
• General requirements of the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act (SMARA), preparation of annual surface mining inspection reports, and review and approval of Financial Assurance Cost Estimate (FACE), Reclamation Plans, and Mining Plans (desired, not required).
• Analytical understanding of State laws and regulations impacting land use and local government, with directly related work products that include major ordinance revisions and creation and processing of new programs. This would include preparation of professional staff reports of summarized data, conclusions and recommendations.
• Have conducted as a lead project manager or co-project manager long-range, comprehensive planning projects; e.g., general plan updates, major zoning ordinance amendments, specific plans, vision plans, etc., with working knowledge of the principals and practices of such working documents.

TEEN CENTER/ KIDS NIGHT OUT PROGRAM STAFF

Salary Range: $17.37 to $28.95/hour depending on experience.

 

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefitted position; 15-20 hours per week (not to exceed 950 hours per fiscal year); predominantly afternoon/early evening schedule with some weekends and concurrent with the school year.

 

SUPERVISION

General supervision received from the Program Coordinator. May exercise supervision of other staff depending on position.

 

GENERAL DUTIES

Responsible for general oversight of and ensuring the safety of the after-school youth programming. Specific responsibilities to include:

 

• Organize and execute a variety of daily and weekly activities for participants ranging in ages 5 –14   including art, crafts, and games
• Mentor and role model, strive to inspire and guide participants towards their full potential
• Maintain accurate attendance records on a daily and weekly basis
• Effectively facilitate and/or lead small and large groups of youth.
• Communicate effectively with participants, co-workers, parents, and supervisors
• Willing and available to work flexible hours as needed.
• Plan and execute duties related to special interest classes, school-year and seasonal programs, and special events.
• Serve as a role model and advocate for youth.
• Communicate effectively with youth and their parents.

• Attend monthly on-site staff meeting

 

Middle School (Teen Centers) 
Our Teen Centers provide a secure and entertaining atmosphere for middle school students to spend their after-school hours. The centers are furnished with game consoles, sports equipment, board games, and other amusing activities. We operate on early release days and select non-school days, but we are closed during holidays.

Diablo Vista Middle School:
Mon–Fri, 2:30–5:45pm

Los Cerros Middle School:

Kids’ Night Out and Kids’ Day Out Programs
Under the general supervision of the Youth Program Coordinator and direct supervision of the Youth Program Assistant, Youth Services staff is responsible for supervision and safety within the Kids’ Night Out and Kids’ Day Out programs, including implementing a variety of crafts, games and activities for youth ages 5 to 11. Kids’ Night Out takes place every other Friday from 6:00pm to 10:00pm and Kids’ Day Out takes place during the week there is no school in session excluding holidays.

The Agency has an opening for an intermittent Schools Outreach Educator. The City of Orinda is looking for responsible, courteous individuals who enjoy working in a hands-on environment, can work independently of supervision and have experience dealing tactfully and effectively with members of the public.  The successful applicant will work on a part time basis with a schedule which will include evening and weekend hours, depending upon programs, rentals and events.   

The Facility Attendant performs custodial duties related to the care and cleaning of assigned facilities, performs a wide variety of duties for events, classes and programs, including setting up and tearing down of tables, chairs, equipment and supplies and will perform minor maintenance and repairs as needed.

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Provide friendly and professional customer service by greeting Community Center visitors, serving as a main point of contact during activities and events primarily in evenings, weekends and special events.

Performs custodial duties at assigned facilities which include, but are not limited to cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing, stripping and polishing floors; cleaning furniture, woodwork, fixtures, equipment, supplies, doors, windows, walls, walkways, driveways, and facility grounds; disposing of trash.

Set up all necessary equipment and furniture such as tables, chairs, podiums, and A/V equipment for indoor and/or outdoor events.

Inspects facilities and equipment, reports issues in a timely manner to appropriate higher-level staff; performs minor facility maintenance.

Explain and follow City and department policies and procedures.

Provide information and feedback to Facility and Parks Supervisor.

Opens, closes, secures and alarms facilities in compliance with standard procedures.

Supervise and interact with rental guests, responding by assisting with any facility needs.

Assists in monitoring and maintaining equipment and supplies.

May perform clean up duties as needed, including but not limited to:  move and arrange furniture and equipment, restroom cleaning, sweeping and mopping, and garbage pick-up and removal.

Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Equivalent to a High School Diploma.

Experience:  Experience in custodial and facility operations is desirable.

License or Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License with a demonstrated history of safe driving.

Special Requirements:

Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:

Must be willing to work a scheduled variety of hours, which may include evenings, and/or weekends, as needed.

Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to enable the employee to safely lift, move, climb, walk safely on even or uneven grounds, or maneuver in whatever way may be necessary to successfully perform the duties of their position; ability to travel to different sites and locations.

Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment medical exam.  Additionally, individuals working in Parks & Recreation are required to be tested for TB.
