The Traffic Signal Technician performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks involving maintenance, repair, modification, inspection, and testing of traffic signals, controllers, and street lighting systems.

Examples of duties include:

• Electrical maintenance and repairs on traffic signal, street lighting, and battery back-up systems and equipment
• Troubleshoots, repairs, and installs traffic signal network communication devices, video detection systems, and closed circuit television cameras
• Performs electrical system wiring and installations
• Services generating units, switches, circuit breakers and other electrical fixtures
• Modifies detector loops and changes and repairs traffic signal heads
• Locates underground utilities
• Responds to emergencies or reported malfunctions
• Consults with factory representatives and traffic engineering staff to identify and resolve technical problems

The City of Berkeley invites applications for the position of Housing Inspector II (Certified)! In this role, you will perform skilled inspection work with City residential housing inspection programs. You will independently perform the full scope of work in the investigation, reporting and follow-up of housing deficiencies to gain compliance with housing, building, zoning, fire, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and related codes and regulations.

Assignments are varied and generally require close interaction with the public, providing information and interpretation of applicable ordinances, codes and regulations. We'll expect you to exercise considerable independence and discretion in conducting inspections, resolving complaints and enforcing inspection results.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from high school and at least two years of full-time experience equivalent to Housing Inspector or Building Inspector or Code Enforcement Inspector for a public agency. 

Must possess:

• An International Code Council (ICC) OR California (CA) certification in Residential Building or Housing Inspection or in Code Enforcement; and
• ICC or CA Residential or Commercial Electrical Inspector certification and ICC or CA Residential or Commercial Plumbing Inspector certification, or equivalent ICC or CA Legacy Certification for either Combination Inspector or Combination Dwelling Inspector.

Other requirements: Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record.

In addition to the qualifications above, the ideal candidate will have effective and courteous communication skills in order to discuss housing violations, violation remedy and necessary inspections and fees and participate in depositions and court hearings as requested. This is the journey level classification in the Mechanic series. The Mechanic performs a range of skilled tasks requiring journey level mechanical ability and aptitude. AHA is seeking a Facilities and Maintenance Technician I to perform a range maintenance and alterations on Housing Authority buildings and facilities, HVAC, and other electrical and mechanical systems; identifying and evaluating construction-related problems; performing installation and repairs on plumbing systems; conducting property inspections, and coordinating with vendors on maintenance replacement and repair projects. What you will do:

• Plan, direct, review and participate in professional and technical work of a functional group of  the Engineering & Transportation Division with principal assignments involving traffic  circulation design, traffic safety studies, geometric design of streets and interchanges, and  traffic operation studies.
• Direct, assist, and participate in traffic analysis, circulation design, and design transportation engineering projects, such as traffic signals, signs, and markings, channelizations, street lighting and parking facilities.
• Provide consulting services and advice to City departments, divisions, and other groups on matters related to transportation engineering.
• Answer inquiries, investigate complaints, and provide information to the general public.
• Meet with individuals and groups as necessary.
• Investigate, analyze, and prepare reports including those for the City Engineer on claims against the City related to transportation matters.
• Testify in court on claims against the City related to transportation issues.
• Act as Project Manager on both City and consultant-designed transportation related projects.
• Prepare applications for State and Federal grant funding.
• Select consultants for consideration for City projects; write and process requests for proposals and consultant agreements and contracts.
• Make recommendations on street lighting design and wattage.
• Manage City traffic calming (speed hump) program.
• Make recommendations on Engineering and Transportation responses to requests from Neighborhood Focus Process.

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in transportation engineering or closely related field. 

License: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's license at time of appointment. Possession of a certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or Traffic Engineer in the State of California.  

OTHER REQUIREMENTS 
Essential duties require the following physical abilities and work environment: ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, climb and lift up to 30 pounds and to work outdoors or in a confined workspace.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Civil Engineer in the Public Works Division of the Community Development and Services Agency. Under limited supervision, the Senior Civil Engineer will perform the more difficult professional engineering work including the preparation of civil design plans for various Public Works projects, conducting research studies, performing field inspections and testing, analyzing reports, maps, drawings, or geological data, and procuring permits; act as a resource to staff, contracts, consultants, other agencies and the public regarding areas of assignment; provide lead direction and technical assistance to assigned staff and/or project management; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents are fully qualified to perform all duties specified as a Professional Engineer by the State of California. • Review plans and inspect projects; provide engineering design and code information and ensure that designs meet accepted industry and legal standards, and projects are biddable and buildable.

About CDSA:

The Community Development and Services Agency (CDSA) strives to improve the overall quality of life for our residents and fiscal health of our businesses by coordinating the orderly growth and development of the County. We accomplish this by providing proper implementation of related regulations, providing community services, and by providing operation, maintenance, and expansion of Public Works infrastructure.

This is a NEW program within the Marysville Fire Department.  The Marysville Fire Department is hiring continuously for twelve (12) Firefighter Reserves.  These positions will be funded for four (4) years through the SAFER Grant.  

For each 24 hour shift worked, you will receive $60 for food and mileage, that will be paid monthly in accordance with the City of Marysville's established pay schedule.
