The Pacifica Police Department is responsible for all functions related to law enforcement and crime prevention and is made up of several divisions that carry out specialized duties to help the department perform as a cohesive whole. Those divisions are Field Services, Investigations, Communications and Records. Receive general supervision from the Police Sergeant, Police Corporal, Police Captain and/or the Chief of Police.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES

Training: High school graduate or equivalent qualification, and 30 semester units from an accredited college or university desired (not required)
 

Certification: Must pass a comprehensive physical examination, meeting the standards established by the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards & Training (POST)
 

License: Possession and maintenance of a California Class C driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
 

Minimum requirements for lateral entry officers:

• Must meet all minimum requirements for entry level officer with the exception of written and agility examination requirements.
• Must possess a POST Basic Certificate.
• A minimum of one-year satisfactory past police patrol experience within the past three years.
• Must have no record of felony criminal convictions or misdemeanor convictions that could affect credibility as a witness in a court of law.
• Vision and hearing capabilities consistent with guidelines by POST and/or the City.
• Must be of good moral character to be determined by a thorough background investigation, which will be conducted under POST guidelines.

The Air District is currently accepting applications for the position of Principal Air Quality Engineer. This is an open recruitment for three (3) full-time, represented positions: one (1) vacancy in the Regulatory Development Division and two (2) vacancy in the Engineering Division. 

Regulatory Development Division
The Regulatory Development Division works with all levels of the Air District, including staff, management, executives, and Board members in developing and modifying Air District rules to provide emissions reductions to improve air quality both regionally and at the neighborhood level and to protect the climate. The Principal Air Quality Engineer for the Regulatory Development Division will:

• work closely with professional and technical staff to perform and lead complex program assignments for developing regulations to control air pollutants (including those contributing to climate change and contributing to localized air quality impacts in overburdened communities);  
• work closely with the California Air Resources Board, other local air districts, community groups, community members, environmental organizations, regulated industries, and other key stakeholders to reduce harmful air pollutants, especially in communities overburdened by air pollution. 
• lead, conduct, and coordinate scientific, economic, and technical research work;  
• review and draft regulatory language, develop and implement cost effectiveness and incremental cost effectiveness calculations for a wide variety of sources in an industry with a variety of control options;  
• analyze emissions inventories to determine baseline emissions and reduction estimates for rules under development;  
• brief Air District executives and present at workshops and board meetings;  
• work closely with the Community Engagement Division staff and other Air District divisions to strengthen partnerships with key community stakeholders;  
• perform related work as assigned

Engineering Division
The Engineering Division evaluates permit applications and reviews permit renewals for equipment and operations that emit air pollutants in the Air District’s jurisdiction. The division provides technical support to other agency programs and assists businesses, trade associations, agencies, environmental groups, and community members with issues related to permitting and compliance. The division is responsible for implementing the Air District’s Facility Risk Reduction Program that focuses on reducing health risks to the community from existing facilities or sources.

The position will be working on the Air District’s Toxic Air Contaminant Control (TAC) Programs. These programs are designed to identify, assess, and reduce public exposure to toxic air contaminants—pollutants known to cause or contribute to adverse health effects, including cancer and other serious illnesses. The programs integrate federal, state, and local regulations to:

• Monitor and evaluate TAC emissions from permitted facilities through annual emissions inventories and health risk assessments
• Implement the Air Toxics New Source Review (NSR) program, requiring preconstruction review and risk assessment for new or modified sources of TACs.
• Operate Facility Risk Reduction Programs, targeting existing facilities to identify, assess, and reduce health risks, especially in communities with disproportionate air quality impacts.
• Engage with community stakeholders and provide transparent access to emissions data and health risk information through annual reports and online tools.

These efforts have led to significant reductions in health risks from toxic air contaminants across the Bay Area.

Beyond specific permitting work, some of the important programs and projects in which the Engineering Division are actively engaged include but are not limited to:

• Dispersion modeling and health risk assessments for toxic emissions
• Verification of emissions inventories
• Database development and data management 
• Development of new regulations or amendments of existing regulations
• Strategic planning of division programs

The Principal Air Quality Engineer for the Engineering Division may perform other complex and highly specialized air quality engineering work such as, but not limited to:

• Processing permit applications for complex facilities
• Analyzing air emissions and other metadata
• Evaluating program effectiveness
• Providing project leadership

This role also involves peer review, staff mentoring, and training. The incumbent may lead or contribute to sensitive, high-profile projects and deliver technical presentations to the Board of Directors, public, industry, and partner agencies. The Principal Air Quality Engineer also represents the Air District in multi-agency working groups.

Testifies as expert witness before the Hearing Board.

Conduct technical seminars for industry and other agencies.

Develop, participate and review field engineering compliance audits, source testing and sampling, analysis of the results and preparation of reports; observes and audits private contractor tests.

Provide lead direction, review and participate in the study of accidental releases as complex facilities, rule effectiveness and hazardous material storage, transportation and handling.

Provide lead direction, review and participate in community assistance program, hazardous incident investigations, and Technical Review Group.

THE POSITION

Under general supervision of a Police Sergeant, the Reserve Police Officer is a sworn position assigned to field operations to patrol for the prevention and detection of crime and enforcement of laws and regulations within the philosophy of community oriented policing.  Incumbents are normally expected to solve most work problems independently and to refer to supervisory personnel only those matters which involve policy decisions, technical questions and unusual problems at the entry level and make recommendations at the advanced level.

THE POSITION: This limited term position supports the Youth and Family Services Bureau (YFSB) in the Police Department to strengthen and enhance services provided to Hayward families to keep youth positively engaged in the community and out of the juvenile justice system. The Lead Program Assistant works with YSFB mental health counselors to provide case management, life skills training, diversion, restorative justice, and other services.
The limited term position is dependent on ongoing funding for the program. Funding has already been secured through FY2026 (June 30, 2026) with the possibility of an extension or permanent funding in FY 2027.

The Lead Program Assistant is a Citywide classification; current vacancies exist in the Police Department however future citywide vacancies may be filled from this recruitment. You are:

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department invites you to apply for the casual position of Building Attendant. Minimum Qualifications

 

Employment Standards

Sufficient training, education and experience to demonstrate possession of the required technical and project management knowledge, skills and abilities.

Development of the required knowledge, skills and abilities is typically obtained through a combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a four-year degree in information systems, computer science or related field and four (4) years of responsible experience developing, designing, and/or maintaining major components of a comprehensive information system including evaluation, analysis and input to the software modules of an Enterprise Resource Planning System or other application system. (Additional applicable experience with applications and systems support, design, and maintenance substitutes for college on a year for year basis.) Incumbents must demonstrate substantial experience in an SAP environment, and/or Electronic Documents Management System, and/or Operations system (such as Trapeze, BDT, ACS) or Construction and CMP solutions.

A VTA employee designated as a "Business Process Owner" and/or "Super User" with four (4) years of experience in that capacity, in addition to performing and leading others in system upgrades and demonstrated technical coursework in SAP or systems used at VTA, meets the minimum qualifications for this classification. Experience with transit/transportation-related applications is desirable.

Overview:

Senior Management Analyst (SMA): Core components of the Senior Management Analysts work will include researching grant opportunities and writing grant applications; high levels of collaboration with project teams, grants liaisons in watersheds and water utility divisions, procurement, legal, government relations, capital improvement program, and communications; and tracking/reporting. The position will tie efforts into the two grant roadmaps (i.e. strategic funding plans), assist in preparing updates to the Board and staff via all employee communications, and aid in early compliance reviews (pre-agreement) to ensure Valley Water can meet grant terms and conditions. As a Senior, the position will help implement new grants management software on the pre-award side in coordination with the unit’s compliance and claims staff, assist in updating standard operating procedures, and work with the Unit Manager to clearly define rationale for which grants to pursue.

Management Analyst II: Core components of the Management Analyst II's work will include assisting the SMA in researching grant opportunities and writing grant applications, coordinating with project teams, tracking and reporting grant-related information, assisting with compliance tracking for federal and state grant terms and conditions, and assisting with grant communications such as the bi-monthly Grants One Pager update for the Board of Directors and the Grants Action Team monthly meeting.

The City of San José Information Technology Department seeks an experienced City Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead cybersecurity Citywide initiatives.
 
The CISO will direct the Cybersecurity Office as the City’s principal executive leader for information and systems security. In partnership with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), they will manage risk identification, protection and compliance, threat detection, incident response (IR), and recovery services for all City departments to ensure business resilience.
 
The City’s CISO must be able to apply expertise in security strategy, cybersecurity frameworks, managing staff and vendor services, leading incident management, and optimizing resources to achieve desired security outcomes.
 
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Lead and mentor the Cybersecurity team, offering expertise and support to foster growth and a collaborative environment. 
• Collaborate with business units and solution providers to provide optimal security measures and achieve a balance between sustaining business operations and achieving security compliance.
• Coordinate with stakeholders within the City and partners/vendors outside of the City to ensure information and systems meet the City’s standards for threat identification, protection, and risk detection.

• Lead the annual Cybersecurity Assessment of the City’s technology infrastructure.
