The City of Brisbane is currently recruiting for non-sworn Police Officer Trainee candidates. This is for individuals that have no prior law enforcement experience and have not received POST certified police academy training. Trainees are paid while attending a POST-certified Police Academy. Upon successful completion of the police academy and upon availability of a Police Officer position, trainees are eligible to be sworn in as a Police Officer and become eligible for salary and benefits as outlined in the Brisbane Police Officers Association Memorandum of Understanding.

Police Officers are responsible for performing a wide variety of law enforcement duties involving the prevention of crime, protection of life and property, and the enforcement of laws and ordinances; control traffic flow and enforce state and local regulations; perform investigative work and other related police work assignments.  Duties and hours will vary with assignments.  A full job description is available online at www.brisbaneca.org. 

The City of Newark is seeking dedicated professionals to be Public Safety Dispatchers and be members of a team providing excellent service to our community. The idea of contributing to the outcomes of emergency situations should be a challenge that applicants are willing to embrace.  Newark Police Department patrol shifts are based upon a team policing model.  Dispatchers are an integral piece of that team and work the same schedule as officers with three 12.5 hour shifts per week, with one extra 10 hour shift each month working in either the communications center or attending training.  If you are interested in future development and growth opportunities within the Newark Police Department, we encourage you to participate in the Public Safety Dispatcher recruitment process.  

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Education:

• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

• Two (2) years of clerical, administrative, or dispatching experience.
• Experience in emergency dispatching, law enforcement or emergency-related services is desirable.

License and Certificate:

• Possession of California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Public Safety Dispatching Certificate is required within the probationary period and throughout employment.
• This classification requires the ability to travel independently within and outside of City limits.

The Dixon Police Department is opening positions for a Police Recruit to attend the Police Academy. The “Police Recruit” classification at the City of Dixon Police Department provides a unique opportunity for candidates to be sponsored through a P.O.S.T. certified basic academy during regular academy hours and any other scheduled departmental and academy exercise and activities.  Upon successfully completing the academy, Police Recruits shall be advanced to Police Officers and immediately begin the field training program to prepare them to function as solo officers. 

EMPLOYMENT PROCESSING:  Upon successful completion of academy, Police Officer appointees are required to complete a field training program and successfully complete an 18-month probationary period, and in accordance with Federal law, are to provide proof of identity and proof that they may legally work in the United States.

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. ABOUT THE POSITION

At a 24 hour a day police dispatch center, you will be using a sophisticated Computer Aided Dispatch terminal. A Communications Dispatcher receives emergency calls from the public requesting police, fire, medical, or other emergency service; determine priority, and dispatch police, or other emergency units as necessary and in accordance with established procedures. 

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Maintaining contact with all units on assignment and maintaining status and location of police field units.
• Coordinating emergency calls (911) and relaying information and assistance requests involving other agencies.
• Entering, updating, and retrieving information from networks relating to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles and other information.
