How You Will Make an Impact:

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking a Project Coordinator to support the agency's affordable housing initiatives and asset management goals. The Coordinator handles a mix of technical and administrative tasks, including responding to inquiries, researching and compiling information, and managing specialized reporting projects. Additionally, the role involves tracking and reconciling financial, operational, and statistical records. The Coordinator also provides confidential support to management, staff, and various boards. The City of San Jose Department of Transportation (DOT) is recruiting for highly motivated, technically skilled, public/community service-minded individuals to serve as an  Assistant Arborist. This position performs work of routine difficulty in assisting with the coordination and implementation of the City's Street Tree, Maintenance Assessment Districts, and Median Landscape Programs. The Assistant Arborist is responsible for the daily supervision of technicians, developing and implementing policies and practices that advance the goals of the City's Community Forest Strategic Framework and ensuring compliance with the sections of the City's Municipal Code as it relates to street trees and hardscapes in the public right-of-way. The Assistant Arborist works closely with internal management, administrative, inspection, engineering, and maintenance staff, and has extensive engagement with the public and many other stakeholders.  

Key tasks and responsibilities include:  

• Assists in the planning, developing and coordinating of the City's Trees Park strip Programs for median landscaping, and insect and disease control, including landscape assessment district programs.  

• Coordinates landscape and tree trimming activities with appropriate City Departments and other public agencies (i.e. PG&E and CALTRANS).  

• Consults with public and private contractors on landscape tree and median island maintenance projects.  

• Handles citizen service requests regarding tree and landscape problems.  

• Responds to inquiries regarding tree and landscape problems from citizens and from other City departments.  

• Administers routine contractual work on trimming and removing trees.  

• Prepares contracts for subdivision tree planting, trimming of young and mature trees, replacement tree planting and tree and stump removal.  

• Develops and manages budgets for various sections within DOT.

Position Duties

The salary range for the Senior Power Resources Specialist Classification is:
$147,005.04 - $180,070.80 Annually
This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

The Energy Department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager (Senior Power Resources Specialist) position for the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division. This position reports directly to the Deputy Director of the Regulatory Compliance & Policy Division and will provide technical analysis, assess the potential business impacts to SJCE from proposed regulatory changes, and provide expert public representation.

Under general direction of the Deputy Director, the Senior Regulatory Compliance & Policy Manager will be responsible for engaging in the increasing number of complex electric regulatory proceedings and effectively advocating for the business interests of SJCE at the  California Public Utilities Commission (“CPUC”), the California Energy Commission (CEC), and California Independent System Operator (“CAISO”) to protect and advance San José business and community interests. Typical duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:

• Monitoring and advising internal staff about the progress of regulatory policy and rate-related proceedings
• Performing independent analysis of the possible operational impacts of rate cases and regulatory proceedings
• Representing SJCE before regulatory bodies and on external working groups
• Keeping abreast of key regulatory issues affecting CCAs, and assisting in prioritizing proceedings
• Developing formal written comments to regulatory agencies and advising on advocacy strategy
• Working with other internal teams to share and learn relevant information
• Other duties as assigned     

Minimum Qualifications

Education 
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Law, Natural Resources, Statistics, or related field to utility business.

Experience

Three (3) years of experience in energy resources operations, planning, purchasing, scheduling, or contract negotiations.

Possession of a valid State of California driver’s license is required.

Silicon Valley Power (SVP) is seeking dynamic, engaging and qualified engineers for several vacant Electric Utility Engineer positions in various divisions. 

For SVP Operations Division, this position will be assigned engineering work associated with communication and electrical power engineering. This individual will assist with the programming of industrial multiplexer networks. The individual should have a strong interest in industrial high-speed data networking.

For SVP Engineering and CIP projects Division, this position will be assigned engineering work associated with electrical power engineering, substation design and Transmission and distribution systems. The individual may manage or will assist in managing Capital improvement Projects (CIP) to support growth of the electric utility. The candidates should have strong background and interest in electric systems. 

For System Planning and Asset Management Division, this position will be assigned to perform and maintain distribution system model, participate in integrated SVP system planning and other SVP groups to deliver distribution system results and reports, identify and implement projects that are necessary to support load growth and improve reliability of the distribution system. b) Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and three (3) years experience doing electric utility engineering work and experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft office (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Mathlab)
 

Acceptable Substitution: 

• A Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of experience

• An Engineer-in-Training Certification with ten (10) years of experience in electric utility engineering work can be substituted for the degree in engineering and the required experience indicated above

License/Certifications: 

Possession of an appropriate, valid Class C California driver's license is required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

Desirable Qualifications: 

• Registration as an Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineer in the State of California

Quality Assurance Group: 
The QA Group supports all capital improvement programs for the Division during planning, design, procurement, construction and closeout phases of highway, rail, transit and facilities projects.  As a Senior Transportation Engineer, you will play an important role in ensuring delivery of quality products and services for the Division. It is the responsibility of the QA Group to ensure the development of each project’s Contract-specific Quality Management Plan (CQMP) and to conduct audits and surveillances, based on the approved CQMPs, to monitor and assure effective implementation. The Engineering & Program Delivery Division:

This division is responsible for the design and construction of all capital projects and infrastructure required to provide a safe, reliable and efficient transportation system for Santa Clara County. These responsibilities include program and project management, design development, engineering management, project controls, construction management and turnover of various projects that are part of VTA's rail, facilities and highway transportation improvement programs.

This division is also responsible for the implementation of the projects identified in the 2000 Measure A Program, which includes the planning, design, and construction of the Eastridge to BART Regional Connector, that connects light rail system to  regional transit systems.

Under general direction, the Transportation Engineering Manager manages staff engaged in a variety of activities, such as the planning and design of transportation systems and facilities, administering large capital budgets, including supervising consultant services; and performs managerial and administrative duties.
 

Distinguishing Characteristics

A position in this classification has direct responsibility for project management and development of VTA projects. This position supervises VTA and consultant staff including mentoring and advising staff, administers large project budgets, and is responsible for projects that range widely in level of complexity, involving management of VTA staff and multiple professional planning, engineering and/or architectural agreements.

• Plans, organizes, and directs the work of professional and technical employees involved with the planning, design, construction, and support of activation of transportation systems including guideways, roadways, systems elements, and other transit facilities;

• Supervises the preparation of resolutions, agreements, and other legal documents and the coordination of legal assistance;

• Coordinates technical information exchanges with officials of other governmental jurisdictions, other transportation facility specialists, and the public;
• Represents VTA in planning, design, construction, and operations related legal and financial issues, contractual matters, and related issues;
• Manages and/or coordinates with various committees and working groups;
• Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Employment Standards

Development of the required skills, knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in engineering and six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in engineering with experience with transportation systems or projects, including at least one year of experience at the Senior Transportation Engineer or comparable level for a transportation agency, public works department, public agency or similar organization.
 

Registration as a professional engineer or professional architect in the State of California is required at the time of appointment.

Under direct supervision, the Assistant Electric Utility Engineer performs a variety of entry-level professional electric utility engineering field and office work in Electric system planning, electric system design, construction and/or maintenance programs.  SVP invites applications from dynamic and innovative qualified candidates for an entry level engineering position. Assistant Electric utility engineer will be part engineering team to conduct design, establish standards and implement construction projects. Position Duties

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Transportation, the Information Technology (IT) Manager will plan, lead, manage, and execute the technology and innovation efforts of DOT.

The DOT Information Technology (IT) Manager will refine and manage the DOT information technology roadmap, which fuses departmental priorities and opportunities with technology and resource needs. The business plan includes coordination with the IT Department to assess centralized capabilities and opportunities for partnership and advancement of key strategies and systems. Some of the top priorities include:

Implementing innovative field technology improvements and integrated data systems – With the transportation and utility infrastructure spread across 178 square miles of the City, most of the Department’s work, particularly maintenance of the infrastructure, occurs in the field. With
the growth of advanced technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) the City has an opportunity to strategically deploy innovations that could save time and resources, as well as improve response times. The IT Manager will work with the IT Department, the City Manager’s Office, and other City Departments to lead the assessment of existing processes and systems to identify, develop, and implement automated workflows to improve efficiency and productivity.

Automating, updating, and supporting multiple IT Systems – DOT has a number of important IT needs and coordination efforts that are identified and prioritized in the DOT IT Business Plan. These projects include the maintenance and development of feature request applications in our Salesforce Work Order platform, updates to the Geographic Information System (GIS), and upgrades of various administrative and engineering databases.

Coordinating Civic Innovation – The DOT IT Manager will also play a lead role in planning and implementing DOT’s Civic Innovation Projects. The transportation industry is dramatically changing around us with the emergence of Automated Vehicles, highly advanced traffic signal management systems, and complex data reporting and analytics capabilities. In alignment with the San Jose’s technology vision and in coordination with the Mayor’s and City Manager’s Office, the DOT IT Manager will build upon current momentum to make San Jose one of the most innovative cities. Minimum Qualifications

Education
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in computer science, information systems, business administration, or closely related field

Experience
Five (5) years of experience managing, maintaining, and implementing technology programs, computer system infrastructure and design, network operations, security design, application development and configurations, and system/server administration, including three (3) years of supervisory experience over a technical team.

Certifications/Licenses
One or more credentials in Salesforce is desired, preferably certification as a Salesforce Administrator and/or Developer.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The approved salary range for this position goes up to $183,248. Employees in the Department Information Technology (IT) Manager classification will also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay.

The actual salary will depend on the qualifications and experience of the individual selected. The City provides an array of benefits.

• Retirement – Competitive retirement system with full reciprocity with CalPERS.

• Health Insurance – The City contributes 100% towards the premium for the lowest cost plan. There are several plan options.

• Dental Insurance – The City contributes 100% of the premium of the
  lowest priced plan for dental coverage.

• Personal Time – Vacation is accrued initially at the rate of three weeks per year with amounts increasing up to five weeks after 15 years of service. Executive Leave of 48 hours is granted annually with the ability to earn up to 40 extra hours annually based on performance. Sick Leave is accrued at the rate of 8 hours per month.

• Holidays – The City observes 15 paid holidays annually.
