POLICE OFFICER

The City of Hayward is accepting application for Police Officer--Academy Graduates and Academy Participants. Police Officers at the City of Hayward perform a wide variety of law enforcement assignments including but not limited to: patrol, traffic control, criminal and juvenile investigation, and radio communication. These require operating a patrol car or motorcycle, arresting and citing violators of laws, writing reports, serving warrants, testifying in court and providing information to the public.

Those candidates who are currently participating in the Police Academy would be hired as a Police Officer Trainee ($5,837-$6,125). The Police Officer Trainee is hired into a civilian position for the period of time they are assigned to the police academy. Upon successful completion of training at the academy, Trainees will then be sworn in and appointed to the classification of Police Officer. Police Officer Trainee benefits are limited to those of a civilian employee.

DEFINITION 

Under general supervision, the Police Officer patrols the City's commercial, industrial, and residential districts; enforces laws and ordinances of the state of California and the city of Hayward, works closely with the community to preserve the peace and promote public safety; carefully documents own activities in written reports and statements; performs a wide variety of law enforcement assignments such as patrol, traffic control, criminal and juvenile investigation, radio communications, and administrative services; provides court testimony; investigates crimes such as burglary, robbery, assault, and disturbing the peace; assists firefighters and emergency medical technicians; and performs related duties as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS 

Work normally consists of routine police tasks performed according to Department rules and regulations. Incumbents receive general and special instructions and must be able to act without direct supervision. The absence of ongoing supervisory responsibilities distinguishes this class from the class of Police Sergeant.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:  One (1) year in a law enforcement agency within the last thirty-six (36) months and possession of a current Basic California P.O.S.T Certificate.       

OR 
Currently employed by a law enforcement agency and have successfully passed a field training officer (FTO) program, but have yet to complete probation.

OR
Successful completion of a California Basic P.O.S.T approved academy certificate. Obtained within the past eighteen (18) months from date of application is desirable.
 
Education:  High school diploma or equivalent. Possession of an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is desirable.
 
Necessary Special Qualifications: 

- Free of any felony convictions.

- A citizen of the United States or a permanent resident alien who is eligible for and has applied for citizenship (Government Code Para. 1031).

- Age, not less than 21 years at time of appointment.

- Vision in each eye, correctable to at least 20/30.

- Must pass a background investigation.

- Must meet all Department medical, physical and psychological standards.

THE POSITION:  This is a trainee level classification which provides transition into the position of Police Officer.  A Police Officer Trainee is hired into this civilian position for the period prior to and during the time they are assigned to a Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified police academy.  The police academy has an expected duration of approximately 6 months.  Upon successful completion of training at an academy and upon the availability of a Police Officer position, Police Officer Trainees are sworn in and appointed to the classification of Police Officer.  The Police Officer Trainee is represented by SEIU Local 1021 and benefits are limited to those of a civilian employee.

AC Transit is seeking a Market Research Project Manager II. Under general direction serves as the project manager leading a variety of complex market research projects, functions, and activities. Incumbents in this position provide actionable data-driven insight informing and aligning strategic business decisions with customer sentiment.

This classification is distinguished from other marketing and communications classifications by the assigned project management responsibilities leading District-wide, market research projects and studies of considerable size and complexity. Incumbents at this level are expected to operate with a high degree of professional judgment and independence, providing technical and functional direction to vendors, professional, technical, and contract staff.

REPRESENTATIVE FUNCTIONS:

Evaluates and recommends professional consulting services for assigned projects; develops and disseminates Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Qualifications (RFQs), and Invitation For Bids (IFBs) and develops proposal evaluation criteria; assists in the negotiation, preparation, and administration of professional services and contracts; recommends and prepares amendments to professional services contracts.

Prepares, reviews, and maintains a variety of project-related information and documentation, including project schedules, Statements of Work (SOWs), status reports, detailing issues, risks, and deliverables; monitors agreements and projects for compliance with relevant codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
Attends and participates in professional group meetings and committees; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of project management and market research. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a field directly related to the area to which assigned. For the Market Research Project Manager position the following are applicable fields of study: business administration, sociology, statistics, market research, communications, public administration, marketing, or a related field. Additional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: Six (6) years of experience in the professional field required by the assigned special projects. The Market Research Project Manager position requires experience in developing and implementing market research, marketing, public information, or communications programs with an emphasis on data collection, market analysis, and detailing the customer journey or two (2) years that involved responsibilities at a level equivalent to the District's classification of Project Manager I. Experience: Equivalent to at least four (4) years of increasingly responsible Analyst level experience in a Human Resources Department. Experience in a supervisory or lead capacity is desired. Additional education, such as a graduate degree in one of the above disciplines from an accredited college or university may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Desirable Experience: Experience in high level complex, high volume recruitments, and compensation analysis. Excellent communication skills and presentation skills, ability to develop strong rapport with hiring managers and provide outstanding customer service to internal and external clients. AC Transit is seeking a Project Manager I (Utility Location and Marking) in the Capital Projects department. Under general direction, serves as project manager for routine to moderately complex projects and assists higher-level project managers on more complex projects as needed. BUILDING ATTENDANT

Salary:  $17.37 to $28.95/hour, non-benefitted position, DOE

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Facility duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Unlock and lock buildings for renters and programs.
• Be present and assist renters during events.
• Set up and breakdown tables and chairs for rentals and program classes.
• Maintain and keep facilities clean during and after events.
• Move furniture/equipment and return to appropriate storage areas after events.
• Assist renters with facility equipment usage.
• Clean sinks, counters, mirrors, stalls, floors, restrooms, and garbage disposal before and after rentals and program classes to ensure facilities are clean inside and outside.
• Performs duties within OSHA standards.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Works under general supervision of the Facilities Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to relate well to the public.
• Be reliable and responsible.
• Inform renters of current facility policies and procedures.

PROGRAM LEADER (SPORTS AND FITNESS)

Salary Range: $17.37 to $23.15/hour, DOE

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefitted position; 15-20 hours per week (not to exceed 950 hours per calendar year); predominantly afternoon/evening schedule, some weekends.

DEFINITION

The Town seeks gym monitors, scorekeepers, and leaders for a variety of youth and adult sports. Sports may include, but are not limited to basketball, softball, and bocce ball. Sports knowledge is preferred. All staff will be cross-trained for multiple sports. CPR/FA certification is recommended but not required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Program Leader receives supervision from the Program Coordinator and/or Program

Assistant.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Scorekeeping and gym monitoring.
• Completing program score sheets, reports, and timesheets according to deadlines.
• Attending monthly staff meetings.
• Various tasks related to the implementation of sports programs.
