THE POSITION:

To be responsible for the care, maintenance, and cleaning of assigned buildings and related facilities; and to do related work as required. Closing and cleaning restrooms in the evenings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would likely provide the required

knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities

would be:

• Six months of experience in janitorial work is desired.
• Equivalent to completion of the eighth grade.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Service Office Assistants will have a minimum of one year of general clerical, office assistant, phone services, or computer experience. At least one election cycles worth of experience in Candidate Filing is preferred as well.
 
Critical Skills include the ability to prioritize work, coordinate several activities organize, and maintain accurate files and records, and understand and carry out oral and written directions. As an Office Assistant it is also integral to have a positive attitude and demonstrate good leadership to assist other members of the team and help ensure day to day operations run smoothly.
 
Office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. These positions may require weekend and evening work assignments. The selected individuals must be available for the entire employment period until the completion of their assignment.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is a 15.7 MDG sub-regional facility that serves an estimated 164,545 customers  administering the annual operation and maintenance budget over $12.8 million with a staff of 34 professional and technical personnel.  The City of San Mateo is building a team tasked with the safe and continuous operation of the current expansion of this conventional activated sludge plant by introducing new facilities including; preliminary treatment, primary treatment, enhanced biological nutrient removal/membrane bioreactors (BNR/MBR), biological and chemically enhanced treatment (BioACTIFLO), and additional upgrades to existing process equipment. A vital and instrumental member of this team is the WWTP Operator III.

The Position

This position will receive general direction from the Chief Plant Operator and instruction from their Shift Supervisor to provide daily guidance to lower level operators and trainees. The WWTP Operator III will be responsible for supporting these efforts to guide, develop and mentor staff on their assigned shift, act in a supervisory capacity in the absence of the Shift Supervisor, and is the assigned lead in getting both scheduled and unscheduled work completed. Those who have prepared themselves and are ready for the challenge to use their skills as a journey-level wastewater professional should seriously consider this opportunity.

This position is assigned rotating shifts working nights, weekends, and holidays with on-call emergency response 24 hours per day.  However, along with this challenge is the benefit of working  a 12-hour shift that results in a very favorable work/life balance and requires the minimum commuting days as compared to other standard 8-hour shifts.

The Duties

Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to the following.

Operate wastewater treatment facilities to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge and effluent; monitor gauges, meters and control panels; observe variation in operating conditions, interpreting meter and gauge readings and test results to determine process requirements.

• Operate valves and gates; start and stop pumps, engines and electric motors to control and adjust flow and treatment processes; operate and maintain boilers; perform routine maintenance work on valves, tanks, related equipment and facilities to optimize performance.
• Maintain appropriate plant records to support water quality goals.
• Perform the duties of the Designated Operator-in-Charge when required in accordance with State regulations.
• Operate rolling vehicles and stationary machinery as required to perform essential job functions.
• Foster and maintain good working relationships and provide excellent customer service in the course of their work.
• Assist in the inventory, requisition, and purchase of supplies and materials.
• Supervise and train less experienced operators on assigned shift.

San Mateo County Health - San Mateo Medical Center and its outpatient clinics are seeking experienced Certified Medical Assistants - Spanish Speaking Preferred to join our care teams. Extra Help - Extra-help positions are short-term employment for up to 1040 hours which is equivalent to about six months; however, employment might end sooner depending on the needs of the hiring departments. Term - Term positions are designated for a specific and limited period of time, anywhere from 6 months to a maximum of 3 years depending on the assignment. Term employees receive a 401A retirement package and are not eligible for retiree health benefits or a defined benefit pension.

Unclassified - Unclassified positions are at-will for a limited duration, typically associated with grant or other special funding. These positions are not covered by San Mateo County Civil Service Rules; and there is no formal probation period. The following are the same for classified and unclassified positions: salary, increases and other forms of compensation; accrual of sick leave, vacation, overtime, holiday and leaves of absence; health, dental, vision, long & short term disability, and retirement.

Medical Services Assistants II who are assigned to the clinics and perform advanced patient care duties as defined in the classification specification shall receive a differential of 6.2% in addition to all other compensation.
 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Accurately take and record the condition, respiration, pulse, temperature and blood pressure of patients; record other pertinent information as observed or measured.
• Apply non-sterile dressings and administer non-medicated treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, surgeon, podiatrist, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
• Carry out rehabilitation procedures as directed by therapists; perform a range of motion body movement with/for patients; position and exercise patients.
• Assist in therapeutic milieu programs.

Qualifications

Certification Requirement:
Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate or a certificate of completion or degree from an accredited medical assisting program is required. A certificate of completion of an approved medical assisting program must be submitted at the time of application.

Bilingual Fluency:
Some positions may require bilingual skills. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to be considered for a bilingual position.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:

One year of experience in an outpatient clinic or doctor's office as a nurse's assistant or medical assistant.

The Position:

This is a non-sworn classification structured for incumbents hired for the purpose of becoming a sworn police officer.  Police Officer Trainees are hired into this civilian position for the period prior and during the time they are assigned to a POST-certified Basic Law Enforcement Academy.  Upon successful completion of training at the academy and upon the availability of a Police Officer position, Police Officer Trainees are sworn in and appointed to the classification of Police Officer.  Police Officer Trainee benefits are limited to those of a civilian employee.

The County of San Mateo's Information Services Department seeks an IS Systems Specialist III to serve in the Security Division. Under general supervision, the individual in this position performs the most complex and varied technical tasks related to the configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring of the County's security infrastructure. This position serves as a technical leader and technical subject matter expert in specific security area(s) and is called upon to analyze existing and future computing environments and ensure that all solutions comply with County policy, frameworks and industry accepted best practices.

As an integral part of the Security team, the IS System Specialist III will be responsible for system administration across a variety of platforms and services such as: Firewalls (Palo Alto); Intrusion Detection and Prevention (Palo Alto Threat Prevention and Wildfire); Endpoint Protection Suite/XDR; Security Orchestration Platform (XSOAR); Cloud Security services; XDR SIEM monitoring and management; Vulnerability identification and mitigation/remediation.

The position also requires support in ancillary systems that support IAM/ARM platforms such as SolarWinds, Active Directory, OKTA. Additionally, this position will perform intrusion event investigative and reporting activities as required. Similarly, incumbents in this class must regularly analyze requests for new system implementations and ensure that strategies are applied that support best practice security design and integration with existing security infrastructure. Furthermore, this position will be tasked with performing analysis and data production and reporting in support of any identified indicators of compromise, audit and policy compliance across the enterprise.

Gym Attendants will be responsible for class registrations and refunds, cash handling procedures, maintaining the office area and supplies, safety issues regarding the facility and program participants, any set up or breakdown needed for activities scheduled and other duties as assigned. This is a part time, non-benefited position, up to 30 hours per week and limited to 960 hours in a fiscal year (July-June).  You must be available to work Monday-Friday during the hours of 5:30pm-10:15pm and one Saturday or Sunday between the hours of 9am-9pm, year-round.

The Air District is currently accepting applications for the position of Air Quality Specialist I/II in the Rules and Strategic Policy Division. This is an open recruitment for two (2) full-time, limited-term contract positions. Both positions are for a 3-year term.

This is a Limited Term Contract Employee (LTCE) Position.  LTCE positions are funded by grants or other designated funds which are not part of the Air District’s ongoing general fund budget.  LTCE positions are subject to individual employment contracts and are limited to the duration of their funding source.  Regular employees have the right to apply for an LTCE position.   However, LTCE positions are not subject to the terms of the Employee Association MOU, and LTCE employees serve on an at-will basis.
