The Position: Under general supervision, this position involves organizing, leading, and coordinating a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities for an Afterschool Program. This role is classified as Temporary Part-Time to support both seasonal and year-round recreational programs.

On April 29, 2025, Suisun City Council approved a new contract between the Suisun City RPM Department and the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD). This agreement expands after school programming to include to grades TK-5 at Dan O. Root Elementary and Crescent Elementary Schools, making the Suisun City RPM Department the sole provider of after school services at both locations. The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Department

The Position

The ideal candidate would know and be responsible for performance of the full scope of assigned fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical care responsibilities, and for the protection of life and property. New incumbents may have limited related experience but are expected to learn the full range of duties and responsibilities, perform duties with minimal direct supervision, and exercise sound judgment and discretion in making decisions. Firefighters work a 48/96 work schedule, comprised of two 24-hour shifts followed by four 24-hour days off, averaging 56 hours per week.

SPECIAL PAY INCENTIVES:

• POST CERTIFICATE PAY – Additional 2% pay for Basic POST, 5% for Intermediate POST, and 5% for Advanced POST certificates

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The Department

The City’s Volunteer Fire Department is older than the City itself, founded as a volunteer corps in 1861 to replace a U.S. Army fire brigade. The largest volunteer urban Fire Department in California has undergone change to become a combination department, composed of both paid and volunteer staff. In addition, the department provides Advance Life Support (ALS) services and responds to over 3,000 calls for service annually. Staffing includes a Fire Chief, one Deputy Chief, one Fire Marshal, six Fire Captains, six Fire Engineers, an Administrative Assistant and 10 Reserve Volunteer Firefighters. Dispatch is staffed through the Public Safety Dispatch Center housed at the Police Department. Ambulance services are handled through a countywide contract. The Suisun City Department responds to fire, emergency and medical calls, as well as attaching units to wildland strike teams, when possible.

The Position

The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented problem-solver with a focus on public service. Recruits enter a training program to develop skills necessary to demonstrate abilities to respond to emergency fire and medical alarms, to protect life and property, to participate in fire suppression training and emergency medical training, to assist with station, apparatus and equipment maintenance, and to do related work as required. Volunteers are required to participate in a minimum of two 24 hour shifts or four 12 hour day shifts each month and complete assigned training.

POSITION

To respond to fire alarms, medical emergency, and other emergency activities in the protection of life and property; and to participate in fire prevention, training and station and equipment maintenance activities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Woodland Fire Department (WFD), as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Respond to fire alarms with assigned company; lay and connect hose lines; hold nozzles and direct water streams; raise and climb ladders.

• Respond to hazardous materials incidents and participate as member of the County Hazardous Materials Team. Shut down natural gas and electrical services to structure.
• Participate in fire inspection activities and other fire prevention, community risk reduction, and public education activities as assigned.
• Ensure that businesses are operating in compliance with the fire code.
• Participate in the programs providing various public relations services, including facility tours, public education seminars and other public events.
• Respond to inquiries from the public.
• Assist in investigating fire origin and cause.
• May be requested to respond to emergencies during non-duty hours. 
• Control traffic.
• Inventory supplies; maintain records.
• Can serve as “acting positions” when certified.
• Clean station quarters and equipment and maintain a clean and orderly condition in and about the fire station; perform minor building maintenance.
• Operate radio and communications equipment.
• Assist in overhaul and salvage operations.
• Learn a wide variety of firefighting duties, methods, and procedures including the operation of firefighting apparatus, equipment, and tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.  College-level coursework in fire science, general management, or related field is desirable.
• Proof of completion of accredited Firefighter Academy

Experience:

• Possession of at least three (3) years of full-time work experience with a municipal fire agency, including current employment in good standing.  Exceptions may be considered for those in lay-off status if deemed not for cause.

License or Certificate:

• Proof of valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (valid for one year from issuance date).

Position Duties

• Lead the design and construction of major public works projects, in partnership with the Library Department.  

• Lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, architects, technicians, and inspectors to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and consistent services. 

• Oversee engineering/architectural or other technical research; review, analyze, and prepare recommendations to Senior and Executive staff regarding project and/or program scope or objectives. 

• Direct and coordinate the preparation of cost estimates and project and/or program budgets; monitor budgets and schedules for performance. 

• Consult with Senior and Executive staff, contractors, other departments, and consultants to plan, design, and construct major engineering/architectural and/or other technical projects. 

• Direct and coordinate the creation, planning, and management of capital budgets and staffing plans to successfully deliver capital projects.

The San Rafael Sanitation District is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Construction Inspector to help ensure the quality and safety of our vital sewer infrastructure.  As a Construction Inspector, you'll perform field inspections on sewer system projects including pipelines, pump stations, and other capital improvements to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and District regulations.

The City of Dixon is recruiting for one (1) full-time position of Utilities Maintenance Worker I/II for the Collections division. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of utilities, including the sanitary sewer system and the storm water system; to operate light and moderately heavy power-driven equipment; to perform related duties assigned. 

Utilities Maintenance Worker I: This is the entry level class in the Utilites Maintenance Worker series.

Utilites Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level class in the Utilities Worker series.

The most qualified candidates whose applications indicate that they, among those competing, are better qualified in terms of related training and experience will be considered to participate in an interview process.

EXAM PROCESS: A limited number of candidates whose applications indicate that they, among those competing, are better qualified in terms of related education, training and experience will be invited to participate in a written exam (pass/fail) and candidates who pass the written exam will be invited for an interview. Note: The examination process may be change as deemed necessary.

EMPLOYMENT PROCESSING: Candidates selected for hire are subject to pre-employment drug testing, fingerprinting, and must successfully complete and pass a pre-employment medical examination, and in accordance with Federal law, are to provide proof of identity and proof that they may legally work in the United States.  A 12-month probation period will be served.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS will be applied. A copy of the DD214 form must be filed at the time of application.
