The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is the third largest department in the City and is organized by program area, with each program administered by a supervisor, coordinator, or specialist. The Parks and Recreation Department is composed of a Director and 22 full-time management positions. The department is comprised of the Recreation, Community Services, Parks, Facilities and Common Greens divisions.

The Parks Division is in charge of planning and maintaining the City’s parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and other landscaping and performs a wide range of tasks in order to care for City parks and open spaces. Staff work throughout the year to refresh the appearance of parks repairing or replacing items as needed to keep public spaces clean and safe. There are approximately 25 parks and play lots, including Sign Hill Park, which has 60 acres of open space, and Centennial Way Linear Park, a 3-mile pedestrian and bicycle trail. Amenities include Centennial Dog Park, bocce ball courts, an above-ground skate park, a variety of ball fields, tennis and basketball courts, picnic shelters and group picnic areas.

The City of Millbrae is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Management Assistant to join the Administration Department, which includes the City Manager’s Office, City Clerk, and Human Resources functions.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of complex administrative duties in support of assigned department; assists with special projects; provides assistance to the public, including about department policies and procedures; and performs related duties as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Management Assistant performs a variety of more complex administrative support functions, which may include fiscal responsibilities, support for department-specific commissions/committees, and/or providing lead direction for lower-level clerical staff.

JOB-RELATED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND TRAINING GUIDELINES

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: High School Diploma or GED; post high school or specialized administrative support training desirable. Associate' degree in Business Administration is highly desirable.

Experience:  Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience providing project management support; at least two (2) years of administrative support to a manager at an executive, division, or department head level. One (1) year of supervisory experience is desirable.

Licenses: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license. Specific positions may require the possession of or the ability to become a Notary Public.  A Notary Public certification is required within 3 months of appointment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Speak clearly and understandably; ability to work in a standard office environment and use computer software applicable to the job; physical stamina and mental alertness to work additional hours to meet deadlines; hear and speak well enough to converse by telephone and in person and be clearly understood.

Citrus Heights Water District is seeking a Construction Inspector / Senior Construction Inspector to join our team. The selected candidate will be placed in either classification, depending upon the applicant’s qualifications.

• The Construction Inspector is an entry-level class in the Construction Inspector series. THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City is looking for a dynamic, energetic, team oriented full-time (40-hours per week) Library Services Supervisor to manage, direct and coordinate a work area of the Youth Services and Community Engagement Division.  This individual will also work closely with the Library Division Manager to plan and deliver library programs for youth, coordinate the activities of the Library Makerspace, create the weekly customer service schedule, supervise staff, assist with marketing projects and other duties as assigned. • Develop goals, policies, and priorities for the program; analyze library systems; recommend and implement changes in systems.

POSITION DESCRIPTION 
 

The City of San Bruno Community Services Departments is hiring for a Library Page position at the San Bruno Public Library. The Library Page position is an entry-level, part-time role with limited benefits. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in playing a key role in the library's daily operations. Candidates must have a flexible schedule and be available to work 14-19 hours per week, including weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays, to meet the library's scheduling needs.

Under the general supervision of library staff, Library Pages perform routine tasks to maintain the organization of the library collections, including the shelving, sorting, and filing of books, magazines, audiovisual materials, and other library materials. Pages also clean and mend library materials, help set-up for various Library programs, assist in the opening and closing of the Library building for public access, and perform other clerical tasks as needed.

This role is physically active and requires regular movement and exertion. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing physical tasks for extended periods and working in a fast-paced environment. The Community Services Manager for Human Services is responsible for managing the Fair Oaks Community Center (FOCC) and administering a number of financial assistance programs for local residents, as well as basic emergency and safety net services such as food, transportation, shelter referrals, housing assistance, and client advocacy. FOCC serves as one of eight core agencies in San Mateo County who work in close collaboration with the County Human Services Agency to provide vulnerable individuals and families in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks with much needed support to stabilize their living situations through a robust Information and Referral program. FOCC also serves as a designated entry point for the Coordinated Entry System for people experiencing homelessness in San Mateo County to access shelter and other resources.

The Community Services Manager for Human Services also oversees more traditional community center functions, providing room rentals for private events as well as free meeting space for nonprofits and community-based organizations. The Community Services Manager supports and interacts with a significant number of partner agencies who deliver services through FOCC. The facility includes both an Older Adult Activity Center run independently by Peninsula Family Services and a Child Care and Early Development Program. Other services delivered on site by partners include immigration and citizenship services, ESL classes, tenants’ rights clinics, mobile shower and laundry services, a mobile health van, and more. The Community Services Manager negotiates, prepares, manages, and monitors contracts and agreements with service providers and community agencies, ensuring effective program delivery and inter-agency coordination.

Position Summary

The Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer plays a key role in providing essential fitness instruction and personalized training programs to help individuals achieve their health and fitness goals. The responsibilities include instructing group fitness classes, offering personal training sessions, designing customized fitness programs for clients, ensuring safe and effective exercises, motivating and encouraging participants, providing feedback and adjustments to exercises, and monitoring clients' progress for continuous improvement. This role will also be providing excellent customer service, addressing fitness-related inquiries, maintaining a positive and motivating environment for everyone, and ensuring the fitness facility is clean, safe, and fully operational. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.  

• Certification in personal training or group fitness instruction required (e.g., ACE, NASM, or other recognized certification).  

• At least one year of experience in fitness instruction, personal training, or a related field preferred.  

• Experience in group instruction and one-on-one training is highly desirable. 

Knowledge and Skills

This position requires a knowledge of general fitness principles, exercise techniques, and wellness practices, instructing and motivating individuals or groups in a fitness setting, excellent communication to provide clear instruction and positive feedback and assessing client needs and creating individualized fitness programs. The position also requires ability to operate and maintain fitness equipment safely. 

Special Requirements: 

• Current certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). 

• Fitness certifications (e.g., Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor) from a nationally recognized organization.
